I managed to skive off work a bit this afternoon so I made a start on the head casing I was going to do it rounded on the top edges but after looking at it I’ve decided not to and I’m going to mitre the corners instead I think I’m going to do the face in Beige speaker cloth and Black carpet on the outside to match the cab............😀

Because that’s far too easy!!............😜 My plan is to buy an Amp head at some point so if I build the 2 x 10 cab now I’ll have it ready.............

This going to be running along side a 2 x 10 bass cab build aswell so unfortunately till the cab is done I can’t test it? But if it works I might do it with a more powerful combo............🤔

I’ve seen on YouTube a few videos saying you can make a nice sounding head out of a crappy 10w practice amp so I thought I’d give it a go So far I’ve dismantled my bb blaster 10w practice amp and will start making the new case for it................🤞

I got my kids to watch ‘The Never-ending Story’ the other week they didn’t appreciate that it was a classic!! Kids of today!!.............🙄

Bit of an update on this project the body is too heavy and a bit uncomfortable for me to play so I’ve decided to refinish the original body in satin black and add a pickguard to make a look a bit different i still need to strip off the veneer and either colour match the headstock or leave it Maple I’ll decided once the veneer is off.........😀

The speakers are nothing special they are Pyle 10” subwoofer the 8ohm SVC version is £25 and the 4ohm DVC is £29..........😀

One question I forgot to ask is does it make a difference if the new speakers are single or dual voice coil? is one better than the other?.........😀

I’ve been offered a 30w practice amp for next to nothing because the speaker is farting a bit the rest of the amp works fine My plan is to build a sealed 2 x 10 cab with a removable back and use the amp to power them I know that the amp isn’t really powerful enough to run them at volume but it’s only going to be home use and my plan is to re-use the cab with a separate amp head when I can afford one So my question is if the amp is rated at 4ohms then would the 2 new speakers need to be 8ohms to run them in parallel so they would end up being 4ohm or would that not work?? I haven’t got a clue when it comes to this kinda stuff so any advice would be greatly appreciated.........😀

Now that I’ve just got the electrics to do on my ‘51 and ‘72 P bass builds it’s time for a new build............ My plan is to build a 5 String P bass The body is going to be Paulownia I’m probably going to buy the body this time as they are on EBay for £23 and it’s going to painted it Gloss Black The neck is going to be Maple/Maple which I’m going to colour match the headstock and add Black block inlays The pickguard is going to be black and all the hardware is going to be Gold/Brass as all my basses have either Black or Chrome hardware so I fancied something a bit different.................😀

I thought they were bronze/brass and I really liked how looked that it made up mind to use Brass on my next build..........😀

I honestly didn’t look look at it like that!! That makes perfect sense!! I’ll think I’ll change them tomorrow..........😀

I did think the same but the control plate is Chrome so I thought Chrome screws would look ok but I might change them both to black I haven’t quite decided yet............😀

The body has been sanded and Danish oiled, I’ve reshaped the headstock to a more traditional shape Now I’ve just got to source and fit the electrics I’m going to string it with some black tapewounds I'm really happy with the way it looks.............😀

Managed to get time to do a bit on this build cavities are all routed out Just need to re-shape the head stock then give the body a bit of a sand over then a few coats of danish oil Here’s a mock up so far........... I'm hoping that when I danish oil the body it will go almost the same colour as the neck............😀

I had kinda the same thing as you I had to move out of my house otherwise I would have lost my sale and had to move in with my parents who haven’t exactly got a big house so me, the missus and my two kids had to move into their spare room for about a month till the purchase of the new house was completed what made it worse was I was moving 300miles away and we finally got the keys 2 days before Christmas!!

My list is really long Ian Wadkins, Pete Doherty, Kanye West just to name a few and to make it perfectly clear “I AM BAD MOUTHING THEM!!” And I challenge anyone to come up with anything POSITIVE about them!!..........🤬
