  1. They have become really expensive. I have a 2017 Stingray which was around £1700 which was comparable to an American Fender at the time. Now at around £2k, it seems expensive.
  2. Give it 6 months before really deciding. I was like you at first too. Don’t get me wrong, they are really good value but mine at least didn’t stand the rigours of regular use. Hopefully they have improved things and if they have I would certainly consider one as an alternative to a Mexican Fender.
  3. I had a lefty Sire V7 4-string for a while. For the money it was good but I only paid about £300 because I had some euros on a pre paid card that I’d loaded years ago! The tuners were frankly rubbish - two were chewed up within 3 months. Thomann sent replacements that were exactly the same so I put Hipshots on it. Sound was proper jazz in the passive mode and the active pre-amp is very powerful. Neck felt ok but I didn’t get on with the lacquered finish. So, upgrade the tuners and it’ll be a good giggable bass.
  4. I understand some of the comments about Scott’s YouTube stuff and social media clickbait - it has become a bit tedious. However, the SBL Academy contains a massive amount of really useful material and information for all levels of bass players and crucially, its not just delivered by Scott. It’s definitely worth investing some time in the 14 day free trial. Then you can decide for yourself whether to spend money on it.

    Reverend basses

I like them but I can’t help thinking they will look dated in a few years time. I look at my Washburn Status now and think it looks so 1980s. I can’t imagine playing it in front of people. :-0
  6. Yes - it looks lighter in the photos I’ve seen. I think I’ll get a black one first and then maybe down the line I’ll get a white one. 😉
  7. I could've done with reading this before my gig tonight! I got bad cramp in my fretting hand and it locked up completely in the middle of a song near the end of our 3 hour gig. I had to resort to fretting with my thumb for half the song. It freed up after some stretching but I need to warm up and possibly alter my posture to avoid this. It's never happened before - I'm starting to feel my age now!
  8. Anyone played one of the Reverend basses - now available in lefty. I like the colour and many of the features but I wish it was a more traditional shape. There’s one in a shop not far from me. I might go and have a look sometime.
  9. I’m kinda set on a maple neck and they don’t do the lefty P bass in white with maple sadly. How does the Pau Fero board look in real life?
  10. Popped over to my local shop recently and tried out three new lefty Fenders they had in: Player series Precision Player series Jazz Custom Shop Pino Palladio Precision They were all really well put together and sounded like they should do. With the exception of the Palladio which is ridiculously expensive, I’d happily buy any of them but the player series Precision was my personal favourite overall. The maple necks are lovely. Hardware seemed much better than the Sire V7 I used to own. Sadly they didn’t have the colour I want so I have to order and wait......
  11. dUg is my bass hero. Has been since I first saw King’s X in 1990 and saw a guy who played bass slung low and left handed just like me. I don’t have it slung low nowadays but I’m still a lefty 😉
  12. I also have to drop D (C#) for several songs (although I have a Hipshot for that) and I have to drop it down to B for 1 song so I need a quick accurate tuner. No plans to lose the Zoom yet - it’s a great pedal - I love the SVT sim and the Tubescreamer sim.
  13. No excuse not to get one now since I’ve been seeking the dUg tone since 1989!
  14. Quick question re: the tuner - is the reference pitch adjustable or is the tuner fully chromatic? My band tunes down half a step so the tuner on my TC amps are useless. I’m looking at the dUg as a replacement for my Zoom B3n which has a great chromatic tuner.
  15. Any idea on timescale and prices?
  16. Any idea what this cab weighs? Is it the 8ohm version? I does look like a great one cab solution. I’m pretty close (Livingston) but like Dave, I’d need to sell some other gear.....
  17. Awesome looking bass and I bet it sounds and plays beautifully. I played a fretless Wal in Sound Control in Glasgow in about 1989. It was lovely and less than a grand. I kinda regret not buying it but I was rubbish with fretless so probably for the best. Sadly out of my price range now. :-(
  18. That’s nice. Unusual colour too. Shame you’re at the other end of the country.
  19. You can never have too many Barefaced cabs CJ but sadly the logistics would not be practical with me being so far away now. Good luck with the sale anyway.
  20. Hey CJ. Fancy seeing you here. ;-)
  21. I saw this one. Looks like a decent fixer upper. If only I hadn’t just bought a brand new Stingray......
