  1. Sniffed yes. Licked no. 🤣
  2. It's growing on me. To be fair it's going to struggle to get pulled off the rack against my Overwater or Spector but I could see me trying it out at rehearsal. I can't really gig it without a working Hipshot though.
  3. Just compared the new v2 tuners with the original Sire tuners off my old V7 Jazz bass. They are definitely more robust than the originals but nowhere near the quality of say Wilkinson tuners on my cheap Vintage brand bass. Also tried fitting a spare Hipshot extender I had lying around. It won't directly fit - I'll need to fill and drill screw holes to do that. That won't happen until I've had the bass a while.
  4. Sounds pretty good. Punchy low mids and quite bright. A wee bit of noise evident and the tone control is pretty much on/off but volume is quite progressive. Gigs coming up in February. Will I use it? Maybe.....
  5. I went for this because it is the classic colour and also because I felt the roasted maple looked a bit odd on my favourite colour - the vintage white. It is a mild disappointment - one of the risks of buying blind off the internet I guess. Having said that, it does match the roasted maple quite nicely. I would say this is better finished than a Mexican Fender but I'm not sure about those tuners......
  6. Here it is. Good things - was nearly in tune and setup well straight out the box. It is very well finished - the neck in particular is lovely. Not so good things - It is a wee bit heavy, tuners don't look best quality, colour is slightly more orange than I expected (butterscotch blonde). Haven't plugged it in yet so don't know what it sounds like.
  7. Just had the notification that my Sire D5 will be delivered tomorrow. 🤞
  8. Well, I should know how it is soon enough.
  9. Had a Sire V7 first gen. around 5 years ago. It was great until the tuners literally fell apart but to be fair, Thomann replaced them. I've kinda gone off active eq since then but noticed that Sire are now doing passive basses.......
  10. That's interesting. I never think of resale when I buy. It's always a purely emotional decision. I have never got on with the Fenders I have owned but they are still strangely desirable. Having said that, my latest purchase (to be revealed soon) is not a Fender...
  11. Great thread this. Check your Elixir strings with a macro photo at the tuning peg. Here's mine on my Overwater. Coating clearly visible.
  12. Sorry I just read properly now. I see it has a tweeter.
  13. Is this the predecessor of the Super Twin or does it have a tweeter like the big twin?
  14. Beautiful. I have to say I think Overwater quality is superb in every way.
  15. I'll bring mine round one day John, once COVID is past.
  16. 2 band eq? Two bands too many for me! My next custom build will be a P-bass with no tone control. Like my Schecter dUg.

Wow. What an amazing looking bass. Flat fingerboard. Wow. Just wow.👌
  18. Glad you still have the Hohner. I took that bass all round Europe in 2018 as my travel bass. Great fun.
  19. I looked at this one because I've always wanted an aerodyne. I had thought I could get another neck but the price is too high for a bass that is pretty beat up.
  20. Yes. The Spector has a small body and it is very nicely sculpted. It is super comfortable to play although it is not as light as the Overwater.

  22. Come on folks. This is an absolute bargain. Lightweight plek'd gig/studio machine. If this was a four string I'd already have done the deal.
  23. Wow. I paid £450 for mine. Brand new. In 1989 😁
  24. You've sold the Washburn Status? And the Japanese Jazz is gone. My collection is positively stable in comparison!
  25. Ok thanks. I'm not currently in a position to buy but I have a deal on another bass hopefully going through in a couple of weeks so if the Sterling is still there, I'll be in touch.
