That is a lovely looking MIM jazz. But I've got an Aerodyne Jazz and that does me.....
-
Latest iteration I had to switch things around to fit on the wireless receiver. I'm thinking of replacing the Bass Compactor with something smaller and I could lose the tuner as the DP-3x has a tuner built in.

I finally got hold of an Aerodyne off a fellow Basschatter. Played a couple off gigs with it and I quite like it but it won't replace my Overwater.

Bit late to the party but I own a Sire D5 which i would say has probably the best neck on a sub-£1000 bass I've ever owned. Quality of finish is very good and it sounds great. Only downside is quality of tuners but I'd say it is easily better than any Squier or Mex Fender I've had. Another good value candidate is the Vintage brand. Again I have one and it is better than the Squier or Mex Fenders I've had.

Here's mine. Not sure about the bass compactor and I need to make room for an octaver. Power is from a cioks DC5.

Sorry but I've already got one courtesy of Overwater.

PJ is my favourite pickup configuration. Mainly because I rest my thumb on the bridge pickup. I feel lost without it (even though I generally use only the P pickup)

I've used it at a couple of rehearsals but haven't gigged it. It plays great and has a nice punchy mid-range clarity. The neck is truly lovely, so smooth and I was amazed at how much comfort the rounded fret ends give. The only real downside for me is I need to drill holes to fit a Hipshot (don't really want to do that). It gets picked up off the rack regularly for practice in the house but it won't be a gigging bass for me. Great value for money though.

HX Stomp for sale in good condition. A few scratches on the bottom but otherwise clean. On Firmware 2.91.0 Original power supply included I have the box somewhere but cannot find it at the moment so please assume it is not included. Open to trades including: EBS Billy Sheehan, TC Corona Chorus, TC Sub n Up.

Sniffed yes. Licked no. 🤣

It's growing on me. To be fair it's going to struggle to get pulled off the rack against my Overwater or Spector but I could see me trying it out at rehearsal. I can't really gig it without a working Hipshot though.

Just compared the new v2 tuners with the original Sire tuners off my old V7 Jazz bass. They are definitely more robust than the originals but nowhere near the quality of say Wilkinson tuners on my cheap Vintage brand bass. Also tried fitting a spare Hipshot extender I had lying around. It won't directly fit - I'll need to fill and drill screw holes to do that. That won't happen until I've had the bass a while.

Sounds pretty good. Punchy low mids and quite bright. A wee bit of noise evident and the tone control is pretty much on/off but volume is quite progressive. Gigs coming up in February. Will I use it? Maybe.....

I went for this because it is the classic colour and also because I felt the roasted maple looked a bit odd on my favourite colour - the vintage white. It is a mild disappointment - one of the risks of buying blind off the internet I guess. Having said that, it does match the roasted maple quite nicely. I would say this is better finished than a Mexican Fender but I'm not sure about those tuners......

Here it is. Good things - was nearly in tune and setup well straight out the box. It is very well finished - the neck in particular is lovely. Not so good things - It is a wee bit heavy, tuners don't look best quality, colour is slightly more orange than I expected (butterscotch blonde). Haven't plugged it in yet so don't know what it sounds like.

Just had the notification that my Sire D5 will be delivered tomorrow. 🤞
-
Well, I should know how it is soon enough.
-
Had a Sire V7 first gen. around 5 years ago. It was great until the tuners literally fell apart but to be fair, Thomann replaced them. I've kinda gone off active eq since then but noticed that Sire are now doing passive basses.......

That's interesting. I never think of resale when I buy. It's always a purely emotional decision. I have never got on with the Fenders I have owned but they are still strangely desirable. Having said that, my latest purchase (to be revealed soon) is not a Fender...

Did I just get fake Elixir nanowebs? Please help check

Great thread this. Check your Elixir strings with a macro photo at the tuning peg. Here's mine on my Overwater. Coating clearly visible. -
