  1. While that's true, he needs to get his gear on stage and place it in the right place. Maybe there's an argument about whether that requirement should be borne in mind when the lights are being set up. In terms of lighting itself, I have two of those 4 lamp led bars and two single led lamps. They are all controlled by a foot controller and simple dmx. The bars are set to solid colours and the single lamps are always white (so I can see the side markers). All the lighting is on two stands either side of the stage. I have always looked at how lighting is used at concerts. You never see the random colour changes of auto sequences or sound to light. That's why I thought I should learn basic dmx and create some simple settings for a handful of changes.
  2. I have an Alto TS312 which works very well with the Alto T312 tops. It has impressed the whole band with the depth and clarity.
  3. Strike that. Missed the Geddy.
  4. Got to be a Jazz. 🙂
  5. The Stinger pre-amp is just what you need, as @Hellzero states.
  6. In my case, because I want to. I don't like the sound of the B string. They never sound 'right' to me. An entirely personal view, but I will never own a 5 string.
  7. Midge Ure at Portsmouth Guildhall. Voice seemed to take a couple of songs to warm up, but a cracking gig. Great band of youngsters with him, but he is uber talented. Surprisingly, the tune that he played (and which he said had influenced him most) was The Supernatural. Played a good few of the hits and had the audience up and singing along.
  8. Not to mention the Limelight slab Precision at Classic and Cool at the moment.
  9. Bet the nut width isn't 45mm as they claim.
  10. Have you ever taken the bridge off? Does the body have the usual 5 screw holes for a direct Fender replacement? I'd be likely to take this off your hands if I can fit a different bridge (without having to rely on my non-existent diy skills).
  11. If you can check behind the sofa for 3 quid, I'd go for the Kent Armstrong PBV in the classifieds.
  12. Highly recommended pre-amp. I have transformed both a Sterling SUB and OLP with one of these. Easy to install and a revelation. GLWTS.
  13. Always sad to read of the passing of a BC'er. Condolences to family and friends.
  14. ... and a review from one of own, I suspect.
  15. Yes. My 65 Jazz and 72 Precision.
  16. Interesting that BD seem to have fallen into the same trap that I did. They state the neck is dated the 5th of the month, where we now know the 5 denotes a Precision neck. I understand my ignorance but would have thought a specialist would be better informed.
  17. Thes really are excellent vintage sounding pickups. I used to put these in all my Fender Japan basses (even the US ones). GLWTS.
  18. I've always left my basses in the room when staying in a hotel. I would always imagine them to be safer there. That said, that would tend to be overnight rather than an extended stay, but I would still work on the same principle.
  19. Thanks for the update. Hope it does the job ok, as I'm sure it will.
  20. Wonderful stuff. Would have given earlier, but had to wait for an injection of funds. Man, this place is awesome.
  21. Great amps. I really enjoyed mine. Not sure of a source for the part, but maybe 3D printing might come to your rescue.
  22. I would add that chords include other notes you can use as a bass player. I learned the piano before I discovered bass, and that grounding has helped over the years.
  23. I guess we have no obligation to sell to anyone. I might consider what sort of activity I see, on the for sale forums, before selling to certain BC'ers. Undoubtedly rose tinted glasses but I always think of this as a 'mates rates' community.
  24. I do hope the bass that is bought is revealed here. I always wonder what the outcome of these threads is.
  25. The Fernandes is only 400 quid now.
