1. Isn't exactly this issue being covered in another current thread? BB
  2.
Both of my 5-string Overwaters are the same 36" scale as the C bass. TBH I never noticed the extra length until the first time I changed the strings and wondered why standard long scale ones didn't fit!
My OS is def 34" so would I be right in thinking the further two inches is due to the bridge position on your pair and the C bass? I am tempted by that C bass but considered the reach to the headstock might be too uncomfortable. But if the extra long scale is due to the bridge position that would be ok. BB
  3.
yeah me too but it was a special order that only come later in the run. I heard there is only one brand new one left now.
Leave it to Beaver! Bass Central have it, I think, at a conker boiling $11,000 !!!!!!! (+ local sales tax no doubt) BB
  4. I'd have someone's eyes out with that headstock! Probably my own! Prefer the cone headstock like i had on my epic. BB
  5. http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/warwick-streamer-std-bass/104138398 From what I can figure a pre Rockbass bass and therefore German built? Seems a fair price. BB

  8.
Don't worry about the e-Bay thing. There's no hurry. If you want one of these, just give Chris a shout at Overwater and he'll make one for you - you can even choose the exact woods you would like. Snorkie
True, but at £2k plus which was what Chris quoted me for one and that was a couple of years ago. BB
  9. Would love this to go with my blue OS but the 36in scale might be beyond me. Oddly enough I tuned my OS to the C bass tuning out of curiosity and it still sounded ok and my dead spot disappeared! BB
  10. As a man who prides himself in knowing the price of everything but the value of nothing am loving these old ads. Ibby Blazer £112 in 78/79 from macormacks Glasgow rings a bell. BB
  11.
XTC = punk? I'm off to the pub
With Nigel?
  12.
And to cap it all...... Wobble on Ampeg
iplayer has a vid of him talking about him getting his tone - pic shows him with a Yamaha BB - but stoopid iPad won't play it BB
  13.
Undertones, another Ric? I must have been dreaming my association between Precisions and punk?
No I would have agreed with that but I think it may be more due to the 'iconic' images of Sid and his white precision. BB
  14.
It seems I have just given birth to a litter of kittens...
Japanese, Taiwanese or Siamese? BB
  15.
.........Not a Jazz to be seen either
And there you go. 2 in a row. Steve Severin now there was a bass player I liked and I was never big on punk BB

  21. Nice!!! A lot of dosh but still £500 less than the UB40 one on eBay! Determined to find a nice XL2a one day. Stacker FYI, an Italian store - Hendrixguitars.com has a 5 string lined fretless XL ( and 2 XP2s!!) dont know if anyone here has had dealings with them. BB (green with envy )
  22. My two Wals which I no longer have the pro 1 needed the electronics looking at but was offered over twice what i paid for it and like the shallow idiot i am fell for it. The custom was defretted badly then refretted with the wrong fret gauge and just wasn't the same. Still going to have another one at some point. BB

It's a bass........................ A Jonas Hellborg signature i think from the 80's or at least he sponsored them or something. I don't know, i need more salt! BB
  24. Historical note here of interest to no-one but meself and my missus but my father-in-law managed Fifth Column during their brief existence and Mrs Bob remembers Gerry Rafferty singing lullabys to her and her sister when she was wee! They parted company cos the band fought all the time My father-in-law is now gone but my mother-in-law remembers all the gory details! My wife swears she drew a poster for their first gig at The Firemans Association Club at Glasgow Airport. The Memorial concert was awful IMO - great tunes done not very well. BB
