Well, I won an auction to buy a Warwick bass on ebay and arranged to go and collect it from the seller next weekend. I then got a payment reminder, so I messaged the seller saying I assumed that was an automated reminder and were we still on for next weekend? I got a reply: Well, that hacked me off a bit. I didn't like the premise that I should pay upfront because I might be a timewaster. I've replied to say so, and that I'm bailing from the sale. Grrr. Still, I did go and collect an Epi LP neck and body today (white), so I'll console myself with putting that together into a guitar (I have a set of pickups & hardware for it).

I was looking at that one - it's the Strat knobs and presumably MIM, but I can't remember which model had them - Squier Series?

My preferred strap is a non-adjustable one I had made, with Schaller straplocks; I find I'm happy with most guitars & basses with it. I take your point about the back-fitting strap button, but I think in my case, my only instrument with one of those was an Epi EB0 which went to a new home last week.

They were never the finest quality, I have to say. Mind you, I've just bought an Audition (yep - a Woolies spesh) guitar on ebay, so who am I to talk about quality!

I knew I'd get the "go Dunlop!" reply 🙂 Unfortunately that's not an option and some of my basses have Schallers fitted from the factory.

I recently acquired a Warwick Corvette Pro Series bass which I quite like, but it's got a recessed straplock mechanism and I'd like to put Schallers on it like I have on my other bass. I'm guessing I could remove the current locking's fittings (a recessed ferrule with a screw through it), fill the holes with a dowel, and then drill a screw hole to fit. Has anybody done that?

I'm not sure either, but the bass isn't as old as that SAS luggage tag.

I expect he's played lots of instruments. He doesn't seem very materialistic though, sticking with his Hofner and the Ric he got for nothing in the 60s.

I nearly bought a Stick a year or two ago, but the planets didn't quite align, so it didn't happen. The first player I heard with one was Alphonso Johnson, I saw King Crimson when they did some warm-up gigs as Discipline, and I've also got a Jim Lampi album.
