  1. Took a while but haven’t bought anything new in well over a year and even that was replacement when my practice amp died.
  2. Saw Bad Manners earlier this year. Buster Bloodvessel has lost a lot of his energy and his voice isn’t as powerful but they still put on a hell of a show and had everyone bouncing around despite the average age of punters being 50-70.
  3. Do you feel it (physically not emotionally) as much as hear it? That’s dark. Bright is the opposite….. At least that’s what it means to me.
  4. If multiple people do it you have a chance, they seem a bit useless overall though sadly.
  5. I have a behringer and we did loads of back to back tests against an SM58 when I first got it, no one could pic any difference between the two. We took it to our local nerd at the recording studio and he claimed the behringer was slightly more ‘warm’ but I’m not convinced. I didn’t see much point in forking out more for something used for very occasional backing vocals. Perhaps your mate has a dodgy one but I was amazed by how good this one is for less than £20 with a hard case. Not suggesting this in your case, but there is so much snobbery against cheaper kit where in reality the differences can be much smaller than most would care to admit.
  6. I think it depends on expectations. I never expected to be. Professional or make living out of it. I just wanted to be able to play in a band, so I guess I ‘made it’ at our first gig. As of last year my present bands’ lead guitarist has now gone pro and the band is somewhat in stagnation I guess I have now ‘unmade it’.
  7. Played one in a shop once, took about a nanosecond to realise it was bloody awful.
  8. If you look at a lot of the longest lived bands there is often one genius and a few easy going people who realise they are on to a good thing. Most of those bands where you get multiple talents seem to self destruct sooner or later.
  9. COVID did me a massive favour with a band I was in, three of us mates and a mate of a mate. Well the mate of a mate turned out to be a complete control freak and a bloody nightmare. My two other mates are so easy going they didn’t want to be the ones to say anything so it was down to me. Then COVID happened and we accidentally forgot to mention the band to her after and she never got back in touch so result!
  10. I have one gathering dust (not that model but similar) that I would happily trade for beer and a bottle of something nice. I used it loads at first but it’s lived in a bag under the bed for the last couple of years. I just noodle on my Jazz now.
  11. A lot of people knock them down but they get up again………..
  12. None that I saw did for certain. I think the highest was about £2400 iirc. That doesn’t mean they can’t make that money, but I didn’t see any that did.
  13. I was looking at these last year and they mostly seemed around the £1.5-2k mark. Some were asking £4K+ but couldn’t see any selling at that money. There aren’t many RD’s around so I think the prices are a lot more variable than more common stuff.
  14. 100% this ^^^^ Instant turn off if it comes on the radio or walk out if a band plays it. I genuinely hate it.
  15. It means a gorilla scratching its ar5e then sniffing it’s finger
  16. A bit like Ferris Bueller - never had a lesson
  17. Same here, I have them in my 1000w Terror amp and they are spot on.
  18. Just bought a TC head from David, fantastic comms throughout, well packed and sent quickly as promised. Perfect seller.
  19. Played a club we didn’t realise was a front for the local Tories. Full on entitled tossers who were well pi55ed. Two threatened our lead singer at the break. Our encore that night was Billy Bragg’s which side are you on? We haven’t been back………..
  20. So many to choose from but this stands out for me: It just fits the song perfectly. Just three different notes and five notes in each phrase.
  21. Hydro dipping may be an option worth looking at.
  22. I do my own set ups. It has never needed more than a tweak of the truss rod in ten years but I am careful how they are stored.
