We play pretty much no covers, but we do "A day in the Life" (the Beatles, for you youngsters) on acoustic and fretless and it always goes down amazingly well. Shouldn't really work, but it does!

I'd agree, the Shuttle 3.0 isn't really loud with an 8 ohm cab (BF Compact, in my case) which can be good and bad, inasmuch as it doesn't feel like it ia moving a lot of air, BUT, at higher settings you do move the output stage into it's soft clipping/limiting phase which I find articulates rather like a valve amp power stage. It's not an unpleasant "I'm clipping nastily and am going to blow up soon" sound, but a certain amount of grit is added that you might like. With the 6.0 you might find that it's too loud to comfortably get it to that stage. Hope this helps. Cheers Jules

I loved the electroluninescent panels on the old ones too. I dont know why they stopped with them. The power transistors are dead cheap to replace if they blow too - 2n3055 if anyone is remotely interested...

I had US Masters make me a lined fretless with black lines on Pau Ferro and side dot markers ON the fret positions on 3.5.7 etc. From a distance it looks like a plain board, but I find the lines useful when recording for that extra precision on the jumps etc. The first neck they sent had the markers between the frets, useless IMO, and they let me keep it and sent another. The whole process took nearly a year though! Masters have a unique neck fixing/pocket so no off-the-shelf neck would fit, but I'm [u]really[/u] pleased with the result. Jules

My guitarist has a Peavy TKO (I think) he wants rid of. I checked it out for him and was really impressed at the range of sounds it could do. I think it was 80Watts into a 15" , graphic etc. The speaker is ok untill you get near to max, but it sounded sweet through my Barefaced compact. They are fairly heavy though - I think he was after about £100 for it. He also has a Laney 30w bass amp which isn't bad either. The tone is pretty good, 10" speaker, the eq (T, mid bass) wasn't the most effective, but the basic sound was quite acceptable. Again, sounded good through a decent cab, and surprisingly loud for the power. Make an offer on that one! By the way, where are you situated? Jules
