1. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=71101 There's a Crafter one that I have up for sale. Its absoloutly unmarked.
2. Was just about to write that my Peavey 410 cab were M6 bolts... but now I'm wondering if they were M5. Strange size M5 though. You need 8 bolts I guess, so get 8 of each maybe? Theyre disgustingly cheap.
3.
I want an acoustic bass..
I have one for sale, its lovely and its mint... PM me Also, that maddude guy - what a sh!t. Does show you though what a good mod team we have watching over us, and also, in the shape of those who had already donated or were going to do so, what a fantastic and caring bunch of people we have on this site. Nice one mods.
4.
Thanks! though 1200W is just a bit much! As i am doing miked studio work and Smaller Gigs, and since i play a Yamaha Attitude I have two outputs, its 400W in total, i was using a friends GK 2001RB bridged the tone at lower volumes wasn't quite there, and at higher volumes it was a bit too loud for the rest of the band an the venue I've used an SVT pro 4 and SVT PRO pre amp through SVT410HE and an AVT810AV and i loved the tone! I play rock, and with half of my signal distorted and sometimes octave fuzzed (though the Octave fuzz i borrow from a the same mate who owns the Fab rig! haha)
You can never have too much power handling though... What if you get your 200w cab and your needs change and you need more power? You'd have to change your head AND your cab...
5. First rig I played live was Squire MB4 >> Boss ODB3 >> Laney HCM65B + some random 1x12 PA cab I plugged in the extension speaker hole Still have the Squire albeit without frets and the J pup gave up the ghost, and the Laney lives at a mates house, but is still mine. First ever "rig" was same bass through a Ross Fame Model 10 guitar amp (which sits 3 feet from me now as I type this). Current rig as below in Sig.
6.
Thats Gibsons attempt at making a boat anchor out of wood.
Haha!
7. Nick (doctor_of_the_bass) made a very good point to me last year. Now that I've got my dream bass, my '95 Stingray 4 (may not be the thing of deams to most of you, but it means the world to me), I'm going to need to find myself a good P-Bass and a good Jazz... So, this year I would love to get either a USA Fender CAR P-bass with maple board and gold plate (like a Duck Dunn - I'd never be able to find/afford a propper one) like this or a lovely lovely lovely Lakland DJ4, preferably in natural with maple neck, black blocks and plate just like Juan Alderette, like this one one the left (that actually belonged to him apparently. I'd kill for that bass!) Oh, and I've now convinced myself that I need a NS WAV 4 too...
8. Anyone seen this? - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GIBSON-RD-STANDARD-B...=item23054a9668 Its very very very strange...
9. Id say wack some pictures up on here and someone is bound to have a fair idea if the exact date cant be obtained.
10.
The difference being...........?
Ditto. Are musicians playing in covers bands in pubs not alowed big fat juicy amps with nice tone?
11. Worst I've ever been in? One in Lincoln, just over the little foot bridge on the A15. I'm going to say best is my local Live Music, simply because the staff are cool and I've had about 8 guitars from there and 3 amps all at awesome prices. But I do like all them shops near Soho in London. Can't remember the street name. Is it Denmark street? There's an acoustic guitar shop there that I nearly had a pants accident in
12. Bit of a tangent but the bassist in your pic is using a peavey Zeypher 4 isnt he!?!? I'm seriously in love with the zeyphers and hae a 5. Do you know if he would sell?
13.
I still can't get my head around Dusty Springfield - Son of a Preacher Man (well, it diversifies the musical content of the thread if nothing else)!
I'm doing that one at the moment. Its hard to get it to feel right I find.
14. Status do really nice strings in loads of styles and lengths. Maybe have a look there?
15. I've had a number of people e-mail me reguarding this cab and asking if I can put some instructions up. I'm sorry that I havn't e-mailed everyone back, but I WILL put some instructions up. Please bare in mind thought that this is not a carefully designed and calculated cabinate. One day I decided I wanted one, looked at a picture of one on a manufacturers website, read what their overall dimentions where LxWxH and used that as a starting point. I got the port sizes by scaling the image off the screen - so they are only approximate. It is a nice little cab that I play through every week with one of my bands who play acousticly in a semi from 8pm-11pm. So not ever pushed to extreme volumes or whatever, but it does sound half decent. For a low cost build, its good enough for me. So if you are intested, please keep an eye out on this thread and I shall soon post instructions. Out of interest, for a cab of this size/style, but made with calculated volumes etc and a better quality speaker and construction, how much would you be prepared to pay? Karl
16.
Still up for grabs?
PM'd
17.
I'm replying! Not because I want to buy it I'm afraid. Good luck with the sale though!
Haha! Thanks
18. Markbass New York 121 cab with an F1 head or other tiny head would be pretty cool. That little EA one looks SOOOOO small its unreal.
19. As Peteb said, the 3x10 MarkBass combo is pretty sweet. I had one before switching to a LMII and Aguilar GS112 cabs, which I only did to be modular - I really wish I could get a MB 3x10 cab as they are a great trade off between volume and weight. Sonic punch is fantastic from them, and they have a fantastic presence that can be heard really well on a busy stage (I used mine mostly with my 10 piece sould/r&b band). You'd be able to get one of them second hand from your budget, and one would fit in a Corsa. I took mine around in my Mini.
20. What?!?!? How??! That's amazing! I thought it was going to be one of these http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-9wY57AZIs Fretted/Less jobbies...
21.
I couldn't live with those silly colour schemes. I'd take a real stingray instead any day of the week. Sorry, but it' horses for courses, I guess. Good luck and congrats on your new bass
I think you'd struggle to get a "real Stingray" for a smidge over 300 quid though...
22. Did it. Today. Went to play a wedding. Told to turn up at 3pm to set up, everyone else will follow and add PA etc as there were a few bands on. So we got there, set up, and left at about 3.30, to return at 5 ready to play. Got a phonecall at 4, "where are you?". Oh dear. They guy had actually told us the WRONG VENUE! We were luckily only down the road from where we were meant to be - but my god it was the funniest thing ever. I'd even asked they guy at the bar "where are we setting up for the wedding do this afternoon?" and he'd showed us through to the stage area... WHY??!? Wasn't a problem though as it was quite an informal and fun party, so everyone found it quite funny. So who's ever done that?
23.
83 just doesn't seem to be a good year for basses.
Yeah, I have a similar problem... I can't really think of anything from '86 that would be a keeper. Maybe a Status or nice Aria, but its a tricky one. All these lucky chaps born in the '60s get ALL the best basses
