  1. This is a good point. I remember chatting with ATB about a 64 jazz and was offered it at £3k under the asking price, so there is wiggle room there. Same happened when I bought a pre cbs precision from David Pym, he knocked off 20% for a deal. I don’t know about Andy Baxter, but the reputable dealers are all good guys trying to make a living and will do a deal. I can’t explain the price rises, which are astronomical. It’s highly likely that those with vintage collections are buying more rather than new entrants to the market. When that’s the case, prices could fall rapidly… While I struggle to see guitars as investments comparable with other assets, I’ve never lost money with a vintage Fender bass.
  2. This is my last bass for sale, and it’s a great one! Here is a 2019 Vintera Precision in glorious red. There are no noticeable scratches, dents or damage and to me it looks almost new. No fret wear or tarnishing to the chrome and the anodised plate looks awesome. I have the softcase that came with it. And while it’s not very good, it is free! Prefer collection from Bristol but I’m sure I can work something out if you want me to post. Looking for £550 which I think is a great price. I’ll advertise on eBay for more later today.
  3. That’s cool. I used to take my 66 jazz bass in a soft case on my bike, not any more! I once owned an amazing condition 64 jazz bass (you can see it on the old listings here). It’s was so clean I never played it. I owned it for 2 years and reckon it came out of the case maybe 10 times.
  4. I found entirely the opposite. Old pickups are weedy, the basses are fragile and prone to break if you use them frequently (swapping a jack socket can affect value…) and they’re often more hassle than they’re worth to take out. Sure, if I had millions and my own bass tech I’d gig my vintage basses but now I just use some of the modern FSR ones. I used to only play vintage, now I have a few of all types.
  5. Hi, I really don’t know and to be honest I don’t want to go taking it apart. If there’s some way to tell without me having to get screwdrivers out do let me know!
  6. You can keep your Phil Jones headphone amps, and forget about your Boss Waza Air what you need is the original and best Tom Scholz Rockman Bass Ace! this superb slab of plastic will recreate your bass sound with incredible fidelity. OK, it won't, but it is cool. This is an original working first generation version with the original fuzzy ear headphones. Yours for a mouthwatering £18 delivered to your door.
  7. I should add, I bought this as a backup to take to gigs where I didn't want to take my favourite bass, but I'm over that now and this has been left a little unloved for a few years.
  8. This a brand new SX jazz bass made with an American swamp ash body. These are highly regarded, and I can see why. The bass is well made, sounds great and feels solid in the hand. It's still got the plastic on the scratchplate and is just about ready to rock. It needs a dust down, which I'll do before selling and sending. These are often used as a bass for modding, and I can see why. The body itself is a great piece of wood! I'll weigh it when I get the chance. Looking for £180 collected. I can chuck in a Stagg bass softcase as well at the asking price. Postage will be on top, but I'm sure I can arrange something if you'd like it.
  9. I agree. Expecially given how forensically you've listed every component. Far too many guitar shops don't go to those lengths and still try and ask top whack. You can be 100% sure it is what it says it is (and far too many vintage Fenders aren't!)
  10. The grades are a good system that can help you to degree level music where you truly get to explore your instrument and experiment. I’d say if it helps you professionally and it’s fun, then do it!
  11. These are speculative assets. As someone who is currently selling lots of stuff the market is slow, and I’m sure it’ll be the same at the top-end of the market too.
  12. I’ve had a couple of Wals. I just moved them on as they were unwieldy and uncomfortable.
  13. Prices for these are just mad. They're OK, but god knows who's driving this? Did someone famous who uses one die?
  14. I've just visited a train spotters website to tell them how boring I find train spotting.
  15. I recently purchased this, but I won't use it, so I'm selling it on. Squier 2021 Affinity P/J body, aftermarket bridge, standard Fender/Squier neck pocket, the P pickup on this is very hot for some reason. 2.6 kg or 5.7 lbs. £70 delivered to your door.
  16. Its also a very forgiving instrument. Even if you’re not entirely in tune, your band mates will forgive you as it looks so cool and you’ve made such a huge effort to get anywhere with it!
  17. The jack socket on my Warwick broke in front of a packed Royal Albert Hall audience. Swapped to a Geddy Lee jazz in seconds and all was ok. Never played a Warwick (or the Albert hall!) ever again.
  18. That’s just a standard filter, so yes 100% agree.
  19. Looks lovely! I think what you’re doing is ace. Great products, great prices and descriptions. Good luck with the business!!!
  20. . If you enter through the homepage you’re less likely to be searching for an individual product rather than browse through the whole range. If you’re searching for a specific product (a 1973 Precision for example) you’ll most likely have discovered the site through a search engine and enter through the product page.
  21. Try explaining this to some web designers is a nightmare. I’m having this exact issue when building a new e-commerce site… The bass bros site is ok, and they’re banking on the audience being less concerned with instant fulfilment.
  22. Any (reasonable) offers? I really don’t want to have to do eBay, but I will as I need this moved on. Interested in trades too!
