  1. Just a warning. I bought this bass (https://richtonemusic.co.uk/fender-mustang-bass-1975-sunburst-hard-case-2nd-hand/) and had it delivered. When I tried to change to flats the increased tension necessitated a turn on the truss rod. Unfortunately, the rod has seized which either means it needs some pretty major lubrication or it's at the end of its travel. I pointed this out to them and they agreed to a rapid return. It was picked up yesterday and my refund was processed today. (Happy days) Unfortunately, they seem to have just advertised it for sale again without acknowledging the issue. They may have fixed it in the last 3 hours, which is great. But I'd exercise caution. Other than the truss rod it was a lovely bass, so here's hoping they have fixed it!
  2. I had one like this 20 years ago (bought from Bassworld). Looking at pre CBS levels of collectibility here.
  3. Musicians Union worth a look. Home insurance is fine if you’re doing it purely for pleasure. Covers bands where you earn cash can be classed as professional use and you’re not covered.
  4. These are absolutely fantastic basses.
  5. What a shame. I hope you can find something else you enjoy as much.
  6. Sorry to hear you no longer play. Lovely bass and good luck with the sale.
  7. All for sale. I just need them gone. Simandl £15 delivered The rest, £5 each (plus delivery). £50 for the lot (delivery included)?
  8. This is a lovely old Acoustic Image Claris + (2) amp. It’s in great working order. Bought on here recently but I need more power for my band so it’s back up for sale. Hoping to save for an Aguilar rig. Price includes postage in the Uk. Comes with padded case and kettle lead.
  9. I had a horrendous hangover so I politely spoke to the pub owner and went home for a nap.
  10. The Hercules bass stand is my favourite and you can often get them cheaply on eBay. I estimate you’ll be out gigging in a few months when word gets around…
  11. So sorry to hear this.
  12. I had an issue on Fender where I got a rattle from the G string. The reason was that the saddle wasn’t compressing the spring and the spring would make a sound. Easy fix once identified (and not Fenders fault!)
  13. It also doesn’t take into account variations. A custom colour instrument will be worth more than a refin, for example. What’s interesting is that Andy Baxter has the best collection of vintage basses I’ve ever seen, but there’s barely any turnover. That’s more significant than the graph here.
  14. yeah it’s a shame. The 60s one here has some red flags. Refinishes can hide all manner of previous horrors, wrong decal applied, inconsistent dates between parts. (Hung around the shop floor? BS) Theres no guarantee its anything like what somebody says it is unless it’s supported by rock solid provenance. If we start considering guitars as antiques or pieces of art, this will become more important.
  15. Not sure about that one. There are too many inconsistencies, parts look too nice, I recently picked up a vintage bass from a well known retailer. Fitted new strings and tried to adjust the truss rod and it’s seized. Finished with vintage and instead gone for Vintera for something that actually works. (Old one off for a refund)
  16. Looks cool. Never lean it against the wall balanced against the neck though, it’s a receipt for disaster. Find a corner (preferably one away from a radiator!) and place if there.
  17. I hate selling them when you have to send them. That’s one reason for not buying too many.
  18. I have the one I won’t sell, rbe one I gig with and a backup. Any more than that is superfluous. I’ve had rooms full of them before and it was ultimately pointless. So I keep the main 3. I recently bought a vintage Burns bass for £100 (worth about £1500) and the guy told me I had to keep it and play it not sell it on to make money. So I’ve abided by that. I’ve also bought a new vintage bass so currently have 5.
  19. Thanks team. Once again the best bass community in the world.
  20. yeah it’s definitely an Aria but without the name I don’t know what to search for! It’s one to add to the ‘wants’ pile. I’m not going to pay a premium for it, but I’ll file it in the same box as Burns Flyte.
  21. I know its an Aria (But don’t know the model).
  22. 6.2 kg of absolute joy.
  23. Lots of questions… What bass, strings and pedal set up are you using? Its easy to blame the amp but worth considering other variables (including technique).
