  1. After being on hold for 4 months (longest ever?) this is back up for sale. Still lovely…
  2. Our last keys player was a stoner who told us he didn’t need to know the key signature as he was primarily an ‘improvisationary’ player.
  3. Young lads having fun, it looks great.
  4. Yamaha basses are amazing. I bought an RBX 5 (not sure if the model) on here for peanuts and it plays amazingly and sounds absolutely fantastic. I’m a convert!
  5. You’ve twice tried to push this in an anti-Muslim direction, and it’s worked neither time. It’s a good show about a band who happen to be of a different ethnicity. It looks like a lot of fun. Perhaps watch the show and let us know what you think!
  6. Very true! I gave up my dreams of playing professionally when I realised the reality was less rock and roll and more Summertime and Autumn Leaves. (Plus I probably wasn’t very good!) Guess these YouTube people can make money on their own terms, and just because I don’t understand it doesn’t invalidate it. In fact, I’m proud when the stuff young people do leaves me bemused, it’s the way it should be!
  7. You’re getting it all the wrong way round. The cash is in the YouTube videos and endorsements not playing bass on some pointless jazz funk record nobody ever buys.
  8. Didn’t Ibanez simply rip off this shape? Looks like a lovely bass.
  9. These headless basses are cool and retro and sound great. Like Andy I’ve had a Hohner, recent reissue and a Yamaha 80s headless. All awesome
  10. Short scale basses.
  11. The easiest thing to do here is to video what’s happening and post it here. It’ll save you £600 on a new bass!
  12. I did have a Bravewood Jaco Replica that came as part of a trade. That had no distinguishing marks to suggest it was a replica and that could, potentially have been sold as a genuine article to an unsuspecting punter. It appears that Fender isn't too worried about establishing the rights to its body shapes, but using the logo without permission is a bit dodgy. I run a business and would be annoyed if someone stole my logo, for example (not that they would). I've changed my view on this now, cheers Basschat.
  13. I have contradictory views on this subject. The basses are obviously fakes, however I have enquired at purchasing a copy of a 66 jazz I own that's too valuable for me to gig anymore. I've requested (but not received) prices for a builder to create a carbon copy of an instrument I own. In principle it's still a fake, but I can still justify it to myself.
  14. Wanted one for ages and I have to say it’s even better than I thought.
  15. I just got this from Mark. Great service, fantastic price, amazing bass.
  16. I’d say it was almost impossible as the grooves for the strings at the nut are set. You could attempt to do so, but it’s more hassle than it’s worth I reckon.
  17. Add 25% on top is a good rule of thumb. This looks like an exceptional quality bass!
  18. Focus on enjoying yourself. Once you get through the fear, you’ll have a great time. Adrenaline is your friend (booze isn’t!) Look at the crowd not the floor and make eye contact with your bandmates too. Remember that the music is part of a show, but stage presence, attitude and enjoyment are part of it too! If you’re worried about stage time, then grab your bass and head to a few jam sessions. We’ve all been stuck inside for so long, anyone in the audience wants a great time and you’re the lucky band that will provide it. Should be a brilliant night...
  19. If they’re VAT registered they’re also only receiving around £5850 for each £7000 instrument. These guys do it because they love it, not to get hugely rich.
  20. Still don’t get it.
  21. There were two steel beams! Previous owners hadn’t done it properly and the engineer and builders kept finding more and more problems. Think I slimmed the collection down to a single bass at that point.
  22. I had to sell it in the end to pay for a loft conversion!
  23. I paid £3,750 for a 63’ in 2015 too. All original.
  24. I’ve done exactly the same thing. I’ve even let the buyer choose the case they want, too.
