Compact, light DI box that's great but not too expensive?
crez5150 replied to gafbass02's topic in Accessories and Misc
These are great..... and inexpensive LD systems DI box -
Hmmm we have similar situations with weddings. The key is to have the PA Just cover the Dance area. No real need to blast the whole room. THe K-Array is a fantastic system... we have three of them now and they really are very versatile. We also use an LD Premium Line array for larger events which is really portable and excellent projection for larger rooms.

I absolutely agree with what Bill is saying but in most cases this solution is unsuitable for small to mid size bands. Most bands would have a sub/sat arrangement as this is the easiest and most sensible solution for this type of set up. I guess Jesse it depends on what you call a big room.....

Indeed it is [url="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www14.ocn.ne.jp/~mybass/_src/sc466/AtelierZMZCTM4LPB.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www14.ocn.ne.jp/~mybass/basses.html&usg=__U46agiE8y6aJnNSwjAvynUpGKLA=&h=450&w=800&sz=161&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=n4Tng8M0SqzwnM:&tbnh=130&tbnw=191&prev=/images%3Fq%3DAtelier%2BZ%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Den%26biw%3D1416%26bih%3D846%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=423&ei=CXtzTLuQDMuNjAfCyMjmDw&oei=8XpzTKeHOYXNswbO-KXRDQ&esq=8&page=1&ndsp=30&ved=1t:429,r:15,s:0&tx=137&ty=49"]here you go

Speakon Cables - what are the advantages?
crez5150 replied to Grand Wazoo's topic in Accessories and Misc
Main features are that they lock in place and you can plug and unplug speakers while connected to an amp without any short outs -
TBH I doubt the earlier poster has polled other Deep Impact users as to the strength of their input signal. It might've solved the issue adequately for him given a particular bass and signal path, but for others who knows what their problems might be (assuming they have problems at all). In short though: No. Generally the single best thing you can do to improve tracking into a synth pedal is string your bass with flatwounds. That's a bit too extreme for some, so pick nearer the neck, solo the neck pickup, roll the treble off, etc. - simplify your signal, mute open strings well, pick accurately, try to leave the pedal with as much pure fundamental note as possible to listen to without harmonics confusing the issue.
Actually most people I've spoken to about the SB-1 have had this problem..... and the issue is not driving hard enough.... found a lot of other synth pedals have the same problem. There have been threads on this site where players using the the SB-1 have found they get a certain note playing all the time regardless of where they are pitching on the fretboard. Most of the time the issue is down to not enough input signal. Have found the same issue with other synth effect units... and believe me I've tried most of them
I'm after a bass synth effect, but haven't got a clue where to start having never used one before. Sound-wise I'm after an 80s type of sound, like on: * crush on you by the jets * Let The Music Play by Shannon etc.. I'm not going to be covering those songs, but they're the kind of sounds I'm after. My band is on about covering GaGa's bad romance, which I'm sure would benefit from a bit of synth bass action. So, any suggestions or recommendations?
I get this exact synth sound with my Akai Deep Impact (play this song in my Disco/Funk band). The tracking issue is normally down to people not driving the input stage enough on these units and getting the dreaded monotone note. Just give it a good hot signal and it works flawlessly.
