1. I can recommend the Chevins. I regret selling mine to John . The A500 will bridge 700w into 8ohms. It is lush beyond.
2. It is indeed on of the early batch of Korean MTD. The early ones had better tone But to be serious, I have been through squillions of basses costing an awful lot more and I keep coming back to this. The neck is the comfiest (YMMV) I have played and it is very light indeed. That ticks a lot of boxes for me. I have a permanent search on Ebay for another. They are not "the bass of the moment" and can be picked up very cheaply indeed. I love it.
3.
I'd be interested if it was a Deep 5!
If it was a deep 5 I would already have contacted the owner and he would have cancelled the auction because I would have bought it.
4. Tragically, I knew what the bass was before I even opened the thread.
5. I bought this here recently http://basschat.co.u...-for-sale-sold/ I then had my (!) luthier change it from a 34" scale to a 38" scale by re-fitting the bridge and adjusting the soundpost. It is a startlingly beautiful piece of lutherie work and I could look at it hanging on my wall happily for a long time. The reason I am selling is that I cannot get with a slightly shorter scale than I am used to 41"/42". It sounds petty but that is how it is. I know lots of EUBs are 38" but it threw me off balance so it is being offered up here. It has a set of Spiros on it a Fishman full cirlce. The red cable ties are there to hold the jack plug safely. I have not got around to trimming them yet. See the original thread for more pics, bearing in mind that the bridge has moved south since they were taken and the tailpiece set up is different as well. If you wanted to convert it back to 34" scale length I still have all the bits to do so and I would be happy to put it back to as it was. I will try and get some sound clips up at some stage, but it really does sound like a DB with a pick up on it. It is pretty lush, want it you know you do. £1200
6. Here is a pic of the Bart in it's present home. (Yes, it is the best strap in the world.)
7. I have a Bart after market wide MM5 pick up. They are replacements for Korean MTD basses which are 19mm. Let me know if you fancy it
8.
Sime17. I can hardly believe what I'm reading. I wont use this medium to discuss the ups and downs of being Welsh. However, I think its important that other forum members are fully aware that not all us Welsh people have such an inferiority complex and negative view of our wonderful country and language. Mwlsyn yffarn(spit) Col
This. <sigh>
9.
Had a week off work so started on a 5 string thinline P bass this week
I wish I could say that kind of stuff!
10. Chevins are the bomb The A500 will bridge 700w into 8 ohms all day. The A1000 will bridge 1200W into 8ohms happily. They really are all that!
Chevin research A series, hands down the best lightweight amp iv ever used for bass, so loud i was banned from using it at several venues! A1000 is 2 x 600w @4ohms A500 is 2 x 350w @4ohms (only 1u rack space) you should be able to get one for that money or less used easily ....... if you can find one just seen this http://www.ebay.co.u...=item53e96f4383
11. Keys, guit, kit and The Great Man (which I thinks is how we should refer to him from now on). 3 piece horns came on for a couple, harmonica on a couple. It is just mates jamming. The vibe is that good.
12. Fiesta Red P. Epifani 2xsomething, 10" I'm guessing but it is dark and without geeking it to the max and walking to the front I cannot tell. Obv at the end I will. He has sunburst P as well. Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, Tony Williams covers and other stuff. Hamish Stewart on vocals for "Who's that girl". This has been Owen at Ronnie Scott's for Basschat.co.uk
13. It would be better still if I was not sitting behind a pillar which is obscuring my view of the great man.
14. Interpreting a Pino solo gig for a forum full of bass geeks. No pressure there! I will report back
Damn and blast you lucky git. Please let us know how it is, what he plays etc
15. I am killing time in the vicinity before going in at 6.30. I am tragically excited I have also managed to get to the Gallery, cross Dingwall off my GAS list (a fine instrument, just not for me) but unexpectedly add Alleva to it. It has been, and is going to be, a good day. If anyone else is going to be there pm me your mob and we can......... um ........ say "hi".
16. My DB needs are met by that thing in my avatar, and I have an NS5 and and Arco EUB so I am fully covered for the DB esque tone. I like the way my hands sit playing vertically and I also like the curvature of the fingeboard for my right hand. I like the idea of a 41/42" scale length for the fat strings. I'm sure a bottom F# would work quite happily on an EUB but the thought of a fretted one is intriguing. It would be a different flavour.
17.
I would.

I hate her recorded music, always over produced and noisy but live she is something else. I love her when she is singing with a live band, wow just wow. And yes I totally would!!
Oh, please, do we have to?
18. Thanks Clarky. I could big it up till the cows come home, and what you said would have been my guess, but I do not actually KNOW.
19. I have not had any experience with the Aguilar/BF combination so cannot make a meaningful comment - however IIRC Clarky runs just that so I will ask him to chip in.
20.
do you do the inovation super silvers
'Fraid not.
