  1. Flippin' well phenomenal! The understated logo on the truss nut cover, the side dots without front facing dots, the demarcation veneer behind the spalted headstock face and back. It's wonderful. Why are you not world famous for this? Your consistency and output is remarkable.
  2. @Andyjr1515 has just been writing about that somewhere. He approaches from either side of the workpiece to get the through holes right for alignment of the ferrules.
  3. Welcome to the forum Neal. This is turning out to be an interesting tale. Are you also a bassist?
  4. Welcome Stubs. I hope your garage is damp proofed.
  5. Good work. It illustrates how individual bridges need careful laying out. In particular, the taper from the nut to the bridge must be quite difficult to measure and cater for. I'm bearing that in mind for when I use those myself.
  6. Welcome Andy.
  7. It's not every bass builder that would show you close ups of one of his nuts. Much appreciated mister.
  8. Retrospectively speaking: I've still got my three links but one of my images has gone missing to be replaced by an unsightly text placeholder. I want to keep the three links but if I edit, the site will not allow me to keep all three of my (tiny) links. It might be because, on reading this site issue, I tried to remove one image out of the two I had but wasn't allowed to save the file. The reason seems to be because I haven't deleted a link as well. I left the file unsaved and assumed it would remain unchanged. Not so. I now have one image, three links and a text placeholder for an image that is no longer required. Am I now stuck with the text placeholder because I won't voluntarily remove any of my links?
  9. Good question...
  10. Yes. It's here. I've also just built a Frankenstein bass I call a YamaCore.
  11. Welcome Alan.
  12. No. That's haemorrhoids.
  13. We owned a Vauxhall Chevette in the eighties (I know). It was Arctic White. It was a readily available colour at the motor factors then too.
  14. Another Pitbull IB5 builder. Nice.
  15. Ahhh. Back to bassics.
  16. Good luck. I'm interested to see how durable this jig will be. Then you said: Why didn't I think of that before? I'll just go and find mine. Heeheehee More seriously, is there a reason you can't use the cutter engraver directly on a fretboard? Is it just going to cut right the way through or what?
  17. Welcome back Steve.
  18. Striking combination of grain and ash detail. Very nice.
  19. I'm scared of mandolin(e)
  20. I threatened you with this warned you politely about this above. I've kept it short for mercy's sake: ExtractAnotherBrickInTheWall.mp4 Played with Vol and Tone open through my Laney RB3. Tone is flat on the combo and the gain set to trigger the compressor (such as it is) most of the time. Recording is via an LG 'phone camera. 30mb for a few seconds of video is a bit more storage than I wanted to use so make the most of it.
  21. I missed the fact that the floor was concrete. I assumed timber. Forget tiles though. Now that you've sealed it makes an excellent foundation for some nice parquetry. Nah. I'm impressed with what you've done. Anyone would be proud to have a shed like that.
  22. Jazz is seen as being a Marmite thing too you know. You have illustrated my point for me. I have nothing more to say about it. I have tried to unfollow this thread three times now. Please don't quote me again.
  23. Although a simple Yes/No option without the hyperbole would have been more representative of my feelings I have voted Yes (ignoring the "can't live without it" part). I don't use mine often but when I do, it's a powerful ally. Like real-life allies, you must treat them right. I consider them specialist tools that require as much respect as lathes or milling machines. There are other ways of doing a job such as rounding over or cutting relief patterns or cut-outs with templates. They take longer and they still involve sharp tools. You takes your choice... It's probably a good thing that it scares some folk otherwise we'd see more maimings.
