1. Thanks Lownote, that's great help! I need to include as much research as possible, and the points you have raised seem to back up my survey completely!
2. Thanks very much to everyone for helping me! It is rather difficult with the whole branding myself as a session musician without being part of this industry on a professional level. The idea of the task is to show us all how we can research the current market in order to find where we fit in and how we can succeed in this field. Naturally the majority of people are going down the route of live performers, such as bands, which usually serve in an entity in themselves, whereas I'm looking at more of a portfolio career. It's clear having spoken to my tutors that completing this task with session musicianship in mind is slightly harder, however much of the research is the same process. I have never seen myself or any other aspiring musician in my position to be a brand, however with the assignment and the way it is constructed, I have to take this route. The suggestions above about session players who are brands is useful as I hadn't considered researching those particular players in that way! Once again, thanks very much everyone!
3. Hi, I'm currently studying music at uni and am in the middle of a business module. As part of this module we have to create a musical brand and work out how to market it through market research and other forms of marketing theory. I've chosen to go down the route of a session bassist, as this is what I aspire to do in the future and therefore am collecting market research for this. I know we're all mainly bassists here, but it would be much appreciated if you could fill in the survey, particularly anyone with experience of producing, songwriting or leading a band. The questions are pretty basic and it should only take a few minutes. If you think I have left anything important out, please let me know! 4. That Fender Rumble is mine so thankyou! I'm going to be biased but it's a great amp and I've never needed any more when playing functions, pop punk gigs or big band gigs!
5. Final Price Drop to £200 Really would like to get rid of this quickly now as it's just been sitting for a while!

I'm selling my Fender combo which had a snapped logo so Mark kindly sent a new logo as a replacement completely free of charge! People like this make Basschat such a great place!
7. Fender Rumble 200 V3 Combo - £200 I've recently upgraded my rig so am selling my Fender Combo. I have had the amp nearly 3 years but rarely used it this last year, with the amp just sitting in my uni room the majority of the time. The versatile nature of there amp has made its perfect for both functions gigs and gigs with my pop punk band, and I have never needed to push the amp hard, even without PA support. The amp is in good condition for it's age, with a couple of little dents on one of the back edges, and some scratches and paint smudges on the back. A small part of the F on the Fender logo has also snapped off. This has now been replaced by a new logo (thanks to Discreet). I'd say about 7.5-8/10 however all of the marks are cosmetic and the amp functions perfectly. Collection from Nottingham but I'll be going back to uni in September so collection from Leeds is possible if you're willing to wait. Cheers, Chris
8. Korg PitchBlack Pro Rackmount Tuner I've had this tuner for a couple of years now, but have only used it once , the rest of the time it has just been in it's box, as I don't use a rack system. It's in nearly new condition, the only marks are on the bottom from where I didn't put it away quite right and the rack ears were rubbing - These can be seen in the photos. It comes in the original box and is complete with rack ears, screws, and the original power supply. I'm based in Nottingham but regularly travel to Leeds, but I'm also happy to post within the UK for a few extra pounds! Any questions feel free to ask! Cheers, Chris

13. If you want to try a Two10, it's probably worth heading over to The Gallery. They had one when I visited a week or so back which I'm guessing is still there.
14. Do you mind posting a picture of the acrylic finished 2x10, I don't think I've seen one...

16. Been working with Roman for a couple of weeks and can say that I'd happily recommend his work! We've been working on a solo bass composition which I recorded at home, then sent over to Roman for all the production work. The first file I sent wasn't up to standard, so Roman advised me how to improve, both in terms of my playing, and also in terms of how to setup my equipment - I'm a complete novice with recording and he was very patient with me despite this! Roman worked on the recording and sent it across so we could discuss what to do to improve it. He explained everything that had been done to the piece as well as listen to my opinions to get a f I shed recording that we are both pleased with. I would be very happy to work with Roman again in the future, and can't recommend his work enough!
17. Do you have any photos of the cab?
18. The cab in the picture looks more like a 112MNT to me, as the centre of the driver is smaller than that of the EXT. Either way, good luck with the sale! EDIT: The metal plate on the back should have all the information, and sorry if I'm wrong and have caused confusion!
19. There's a very brief review in Bass guitar magazine from a few months back which said that the sound is great, but the amp is a bit pricey for what you get, but at the end of the day it's all hand built by Mark, so it's not gonna be cheap! I played it briefly at LBGS and the sound is super clear and there's more power than anyone could ever need, and then some! The frequency range for the EQ is the same as the Aurora which people seem to love so that's another positive. There's not a great deal of info on these but this is the stuff I've picked up, hope it's helpful!
20. Just received a Fakey in black myself. Impressed, thanks for the recommendation!
21.
Hi all - thanks for the information - unfortunately Status don't offer left-handed necks (according to their website) so I'm stuck with Moses if I want to go down the graphite route. However, I'm now wary of spending the wrong end of £300 with an outfit in Oregon - bit of a stretch to return it if it's 'duff'!! As Fender UK seem to have stopped doing left handed replacement USA necks (or any left handed necks for that matter) - and no US companies will ship anything, new or used, with a rosewood board, its back to trawling the web/Ebay or getting a maple/maple from dear old Warmoth (and waiting months!) or 'doing a Hendrix' and sticking a righty on it. But thanks again for all the comments - Basschat is a fantastic resource.
If you're happy with a wooden neck contact Jon Shuker. He built me a fretless neck just before Christmas for less than the price of a replacement fender. Plus you can have it spec'd however you want!
22. I had Jon Shuker build me a fretless neck for a Squier. It's just a simple maple neck with rosewood board, but the carbon super rods and custom dimensions make it far better than a Mexican fender neck, for the price. He's also re-radiused basses before, so it might be worth getting a quote for that.
