4. go to your local maplins store ,ask for a NYS2203 which is a neutrik jack socket somewhere between £2- £3 from memory, 5- 10 minutes work should see it fitted, best of luck, mike b.
5. Oh dear , perhaps it's too cheap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
6. Here's something to consider- first look at the position of the top strap button, on mine it is over the 11/12 fret, when the bass is hung on a strap this brings the nut end closer to you, hang a small body bass ie hohner b2a on a strap & the strapbutton position pushes the nut end away from you. secondly I'm no scientist but the greater neck contact/body mass against the neck must contribute to the tone, look at the basses I currently own & I have to say the karuna with it's cheap as chips "belcat" pickups & the most basic control layout produces a sound equal to them all. thirdly, check out the weight, the Karuna single cut is the lightest bass I curently own
7. [attachment=101000:egg1.jpg Eggle is a '93 Berlin pro in excellent cond with oe case & paperwork, some wear to gold plate, trem set up & fully working, having owned les p's & a prs aniv custom, this was the guitar I kept until the end easly worth £700 as some will know I only do cash on collection ( no couriers ) within reason I will drive for a meet if the value of the deal warrants, may consider fretted or fretless 5 or small lightweight amp head in a trade see last post for free amp offer [

13. Get hold of a copy of the hal leonard "Blues Bass" book by ed friedland, that will give you everything you need to survive a jam night, most important thing tho' is to say thank you to the house bass player if he lets you use his gear, jam nights are mean't to be fun & remember we were all beginers once so don't be afraid to have a go, best of luck, mike b.
14. is it nearly ready yet, is it,,, is it stuart, is it nearly ready yet,, is it ?????????????????????????????????????????/
15. What is it - built as a lightweight travel bass that could be dismantled & reassembled with the minimum amount of fuss & setup adjustments, the neck is not attached by screws but is bolted to the body with threaded inserts set into the neck.To the credit of it's builder the bass has recently been flown to Europe & back with the neck unbolted, carried as hand luggage by another basschatter. spec- Spanish cedar body with maple/rosewood neck Weight 7.5lbs (approx on kitchen scales) Scale length 34" Nut width 40mm Neck @ 12 fret 54.5mm String width @ bridge 17.5mm Hardware- ABM headless nut (with string clamps to allow either d'ball or std strings to be used) Brass adjustanut ABM individual bridge tuner units Electrics- 2 x Bellcat humbuckers with single vol control (push/pull for coiltap) for each pickup to save website space full details of the build can be found thro the link below http://uk.wrs.yahoo.com/_ylt=A7x9QXx5ofNNG....prosebass.com/ www.prosebass.com Why did I buy it- simply because my holygrail of basses would have narrow string spacing/neck width, with a compact lightweight body & a sound to die for. How close is it - well not far off, having done two rehearsals & one gig, the neck is not as comfy as my favorite Overwater but nicer than my MM Sterling, single cut design puts the strap button over the 11th fret which makes it feel very compact compared to all of my other basses when hung on a strap. Soundwise ,ignore the price tag on Bellcat pickups, this thing sounds massive, more grand piano than honky tonk is probably the best description, I had forgotten how good simple could be with lots of tonal interaction just by blending the two passive vol controls. Tried it strung with cut to length rotosounds ,picatto doubleball flatwounds & just restrung it with some status r'wound hotwires, it will probably be the first choice for gigging (especialy as it fits into a guitar gigbag) but ultimately the quest for the perfect neck continues.
16. Have a bump on me for the best looking plank of wood I've seen in years, drooled over it the last time it came up for sale but looking at the neck width/string spacing I think it might be just too much of a handful for the wrinkley fingers, shame you're not closer to devon as I would love to give it a try, somebody buy it soon or I will have to put gaffa tape over my glasses, mike b.
17. Top man to deal with, just bought his prose bass, trouble free & painless ( until the wife finds out ) transaction, can't fault him, mike b.
18. Well ????????????????????????????????????????????
19. Hello,I have flats on everything now, started with Ti's on the fretless but found them a bit slack & moved on to d'addario chromes, and as I had a spare set I tried them on Rita (45-100's) , for me they sound ace, great range of tones available, never gets muddy or lost in the mix, that's all I have tried on the sterling & they certainly work for me, good tension plus I can get a low action without rattles (I'm a soft plucker as well). Just as an aside I put a set of chromes on the old thumb & it didn't work for me at all, put the old Ti's on & I'm back in love with the wick again, all the best, mike .
20. Best barrel sockets can be found in Maplins, I think current price is £2.15, their part no N39GB, they are made by Neutrik, my advice is to use a rubber "O" ring behind the head of the socket, tighten nut with a 15mm spanner but don't go mad or you may crack the wood around the socket, works for me, mike b.
