1.
Yeah but I went with a higher quality OBBM version so I have no bleed, cheaper cables might be wired less carefully.
Cool cheers Ste
2. After reading pt6 would something like this be the ticket when using the sonic port to record the two channel set up into a PC? http://www.gak.co.uk/en/hosa-quarter-inch-trs-to-dual-quarter-inch-stp-201-1m/17043?gclid=CLKpwpKMq74CFZShtAodeGMA_g
3.
Really enjoying the iPad/Jamup setup for playing live, the only big issue I have is a really niggling simple one, which is - has anyone found a convenient and reliable way of securing the Sonic Port if, like me, you have your iPad on a mic stand mount? The lead isn't long enough to reach the floor, and at the moment I'm using the amp & cab as an ad hoc Sonic Port stand, but that's hardly efficient... 4. Pity I wasn't closer or I'd definitely have had this one!
5. Awesome read there Ste, been thinking about going down the iOS route for a while for recording at least but I reckon you've given me the push I needed

My 2007 ltd edition epiphone thunderbird IV, modded with a hipshot supertone bridge and a pair of early 2000 gibson thunderbird pickups. The routing for the pups was done by a 'friend' of a friend and he made a mess hence the double pickup surround/scratchplate made by the good Doc.
7. My fave fuzz would have to be my earthbound audio beast followed closely by my old byoc large beaver built to rams head era specs with a few bass friendly mods done by Martin Owen. I'm currently fuzzless though as my mate has a loan of my beast
8. The hipshot is worth it. Far superior to the 3 point bridge in every way.
9. The best upgrade you can get for a tbird is a hipshot supertone bridge. FAR superior in every way over the 3 point bridges
10. These would be my dream basses.... better get saving
11. John's been on the case and I have one of his solderless looms something just isn't playing well with it typical bloody gibson pickups eh! Never had any problems with my pbass
12. Right wee update, I was gonna just bite the bullet and put it in to my local shop to get looked at, but I forgot to lift the bass this morning so I gave the above a go as my mate hasn't had the time to come round with the stuff. So armed with some extra wire and leccy tape I went to work........ Success! we have sound and its not quiet either! Gave both pickups a try individually and together, happy days at least the pickups aren't duff I might just wire the pups straight to the jack after all if I can remember how to solder
13. My mates gonna drop off his multimeter and solder iron tomorrow night so I'll check the coils and try wiring them straight to the output jack to see if that helps any. Failing that if the pups are duff then I can get my cash back from the ebay seller as I've been in contact with him regarding the probs
14. I've had a look online at some photos of gibson tbird control cavities and the pick up wires come in to the cavity from separate holes, on my epi tbird they come through tje one hole to the cavity, so could the sheilded wires touching be causing the low output or am I talking s****?
15. They are about 5mm from the srings when fretted at the 20th fret, I'll need to get longer scews to give that ago though but could be worth a shot I guess
16.
If you skip the wiring and connect one straight to the jack socket, does it sound louder?
Not had a chance as my soldering iron has gone walkabout and I don't have a multi meter sadly
17. Nope pickups from a US gibson thunderbird apparently. The pickups from my Korean tbird have quite a decent output
18. I've just recently won a set of gibson usa thunderbird pickups on ebay and a kiogon wiring loom to replace the old stock one. After sanding down the pickup cavities to allow the gibson pickups to fit and wiring the loom up as per instructed (and double checking with kiogon to make sure) we have sound! But not a lot of it.... the pickups are really quiet. My pitchblack recognises both pickups individually and together so there is definitely output. I'm kinda stumped as you would think that the gibsom pickups would have at least a similar output to the std epiphone ones. Anyone have any ideas as to what could be wrong? Or is it a case of putting the bass into a tech to have a gander at it ?
19.
I'd do a bit of research as to the original pot values for those pickups, you may need to replace the pots to get the best out of the pups. I'd suggest a rewire anyway, if you're putting good pickups in, makes sense to put good wiring and pots. Kigon on here does great wiring kits, he may be able to help.
That was next on the list
20. Hey folks, I've recently picked up a set of Gibson USA pickups for my thunderbird and before i go gung ho and make a mess of the wiring for them I thought I'd ask for some advice here first The stock wiring although like spaghetti junction is pretty clear as to which wires to desolder, however my question is regarding the gibson pups being installed the pup wires look like this I take it I will be good to solder the wire to the lug the old one has been removed from then solder the sheilded part to the ground pot on the bridge vol pot as per the original wiring? and then repeat for the bridge pickup? or am i going to have to strip the shielded part down and do the same as the stock wiring? the stock wiring looks like this cheers in advance
21. very tempted by this but do i really need another red dragon though?...
22.
Great idea to put one of those pick holders on the board!
Yeah it's came in handy on more than one occasion
23. I used to own a 3230 jubilee head along with one of the newer vbc 4x12 cabs, The oenly other rig I played that came close to it was my trace elliot vtype 1x15 combo with 2x10 ext cab. Don't own any of them anymore sadly. Price wise I picked mine up for £150 on ebay back in 2005 so doubt that will be of much help to you.
24. Still got space for a few more, might need to invest in a new board first though as I have to raise the pitchblack if I want to move it closer to the edge of the board. Otherwise I'm pretty happy with my gain pedals
