Just bought one of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=200272155425 £40 quid delivered and recommended by a basschatter, no wheels but folds flat!

Also it's a pre-owned bass and he's listing it as new, thought that was against ebay rules? I've sold a mint condition, never gigged bass that didn't have the slightest scratch in the finish as used purely because it was!
If the pickups are too loud, couldn't you just lower them?
There wasn't much scope for lowering them, they just had a stupidly high output anyways so don't think it would have made much of a difference. Played a shine guitar which was the same, nearly impossible to get a clean sound out of it with the volume anyway near full

I used to have one of these, paid £120 for it new and sold it for £90 on ebay Mine was a nicer dark cherry finish and had an extra pot (2xvol, bass, mid and treb) It wasn't pants at all, although it wasn't by any means desirable. The pickups were much too loud and you had to roll them back to get a decent sound. The hardware was surprisingly decent, i remember the bridge in particular looked well made and chunky. It was a double truss rod neck and seemed like a "proper" 6er, tbh i was expecting to find all sorts of shortcomings when i got it home but it was pretty good At this price you can't go wrong really! Sniff out some better pickups and it'd be a winner EDIT: That Squier was a standard too! Someone got a bargain...

Got this from thisnameistaken a while back but have set my sights on an M80 and don't have the pedalboard space for this It has only 1 battery cover and the other is held together by velcro but i just removed the feet and stuck 2 strips of velcro on it as it has lived in a pedalboard. It comes with an 18v power supply and has it's original box. It works a treat and sounds huge, i gigged it for the first time last week and it got a lot of good comments, cuts really well through the mix and has loads of features including 3 band eq, blend, 3 way mid shift and of course the torch on/off switch on the side I'm looking for what i paid for it - £75 posted (i think) so if anyone fancies it give me a shout. Ideally you'll have an M80 to swap though........... Cheers Steve

The Schroeder 1212r/1212l has one speaker angled away from the cab, i stand mine on it's side as in the photo above and it gives an even spread of sound all over the stage and plenty out front. I'm looking into getting a horizontal amp stand to raise it a bit if i need to: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GIRAFFE-CLICK-SYSTEM...%3A1|240%3A1318

Notice he tells you what he paid for his ray but not what he paid for this...........
Skint at the moment but think I might be tempted as it would complete my "home practice pa" that at the moment stands me at nothing ( mixer and amp ) Travel is ok as well
A home practice PA? Good work son! I'm moving in with Mrs. Lemmywinks next year, she won't know what hit her................ -

My mate paid nearly £900 for his 1x15 evo when they first came out years ago, right after he bought it they upped it to 500w (his is 300w) and lowered the price! Sounds bloody awful too, i gigged with it a few times and wished i could take off all the buttons and sliders and add a "better and louder" switch. Oh and it's too heavy too!

+1 Our guitarist has a tilted one and it works a treat. I have a head and cab though so would need a horizontal one. Any recommendations?
hey! yeah ive got a mesa but it only pushes out the 750w when running a 2ohm cab, 500w when running a 4ohm cab and around 300w when running an 8 ohm cab! the hartke is 8 ohms and it seemed plenty loud enough! if im honest we're not a really loud band, i dont seem to need to have the amp master volume much past 10 oclock! and yeah its just for rehearsals at the moment as i have my aguilar DB410 for gigs! that looks like a cracking deal on ebay by the way!!
Sounds like your sorted then! I agree with steve in that you might get one cheaper if you look around, however this one is mint, it's already in your rehearsal room and you can pay in interest free instalments so that sweetens the deal! I used a VX215 as my rehearsal cab for ages out of pure laziness as i could leave it at the practice room and wish i could still do that, miss just taking a bass and head to practice
-
I tried it before buying the XL cabs, think it handles 100w less IIRC and flakes out earlier, i used a 500w head so needed more power handling. Think they're good for the money though. There's this on ebay at the mo too : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hartke-HA2500-Transp...%3A1|240%3A1318 Get the lot!!! EDIT: Just seen you have a mesa head so you'll prob be looking for something with a higher rating. I think the TP is only 300w. Is it just for rehearsals?

The most awful bass video I think I have ever seen
lemmywinks replied to NJE's topic in General Discussion
The best bit is that god-awful string bend that's way out of tune! I think this guy probably died a dishonourable death after this performance when he met his local Fodera dealer! -
Agree with the Squeir love! I tried a few MIM jazzes before i bought mine and the Squier felt and sounded better. The second hand MIA Jazz i tried was more than 3 times the price and definitely did not sound 3 times as good. Stuck Barts in my Squier and it kicked the MIA into touch If you really want an F on the headstock buy a decal for under a tenner!

The neck on my jazz is wider and chunkier in the hand than a typical jazz, just something to be aware of. I'm not unhappy with it, it's still a great neck, just not what i was expecting! Don't know if they still make em like that
-
Sorry if i'm pointing out the obvious, but are you using it with a universal ac adapter? If so the polarity might be the wrong way round. I think it should be tip negative (my syb3 is) Otherwise probably best to contact the seller before having it looked at elsewhere, might be a problem if you have to return it

I have found that my Russian Big Muff does suck the tone slightly so would appreciate a link to a true bypass mod. Also they can be very noisy when switched on but out of all the distortions i've tried it's the rudest and my personal favourite! I'm sending mine to the shop to be looked at so the noise problem may be a fault with mine Bear in mind you'll have to mod it to accept mains power as they are battery only when new and they eat batteries for fun They are miles better for bass then the USA version, i bought the USA one in error before i got mine and there was no real low end to it. The Russian Muff has loads of bass clout and sounds incredibly rich and thick
