Hi Dazed They are a lot louder and a bit brighter than some Jazz pickups I've used, put possibly also my favourite Jazz pickups. There is a video somewhere on YouTube of someone using them in a sherwood green fender Jazz bass. Give it a watch if you're interested. I last week sold a set of them in the marketplace here, but can definitely see me buying a new set in the not too distant future. Cheers, HB

It certainly looks nice anyway Robin, and I'm sure it can be made to play good too (if it doesn't already) Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and welcome to Basschat!!!

most folk here don't know difference but aye

to be fair he was a big part of the early days of UK hip hop. The likes of Kano, Dizzee Rascal, JME, Sway, Skepta, Tinie Tempah, and more recently Stormzy, have all worked with him

A nice member of the honours list for me is local lad Charlie Fogarty. He was a youth footballer for the Birmingham academy when he was involved in a car crash that left him in a coma and severely brain damaged. A few years on he's done work for disabled football teams all over the midlands and set up Solihull Moors disabled open-age team, and hopes to get into the Paralympic GB team. All aged just 18. To me, these are the sorts of people that deserve all the credit.

"You know how I'm your favourite child?..." Current debate is Renegade vs Rockinbetter. Both are the same price but only one can win...

after a very promising start of the year (new band with very talented musicians), I have ended the year on a grand total of 1.5 gigs - one as a stand in for a friends band and the half a one being from what was a rehearsal being put on the venues stage and about 25 people coming in and watching (although probably because the bar was in the same room as the stage). Still, the bar for improvement in 2018 is currently set quite low.

Or Bruce Foxton fanboys like me dad.

out of my budget unfortunately... I think I'm going to bide my time and save for a bit and hope the right one comes available.

The Hondo has been pulled off ebay this morning anyway
-
I've just read that Peter Hook (Joy Division) used a Hondo II Rick copy ad opposed to an actual Rick. That's done nothing to help my GAS 😅
-
one of the ideas I had a while ago was routing a standard cheapo Harley Benton Jazz or Precision type bass or similar to take the Seymour Duncan RB pickups, but then it's losing that good old rick styling. I'll let you know how my quest goes. I have put in a bid on the Hondo and at current am the highest bidder Am I allowed to do a NBD of a faker?
-
we'll see how it goes with the Hondo anywhow - that is the colour scheme I am after I think.

North Birmingham me.

I currently have a few options anyway. there's the Hondo, which I won't go above £350 for. I have sourced a shop up north with a Rockinbetter in the redburst colour in stock that an old friend will go in and buy for me if I want it. There's the Renegade in red that is in budget. The generic chickenbacker on FB I've been offered for pennies but will need some doing uppering. Theres an Indie IRK for sale on an auction site - comes in at the top of what I have to spend but they get a good write up. And finally, the Career Rik400s are all over the interwebs for just above my budget.
-
It is also missing a string completely 😅 I thought no more than £350 as thats the sort of region Rockinbetters and Retrovibe Renegades go for. I do know that the Hondos do get a good write up though. In other news I've been offered one on Facebook that looks like a generic Chinese faker with a whole rework of the electrics needed.

How did you guess?

There is a certain old Japanese one on a well known auction site. If anyone knows their stuff can they PM me and help recommend me what it's worth?

Hiya guys, Up for sale is my Ashdown Vintage 12 combo. See what Ashdown have to say about it: http://ashdownmusic.com/products/1/B/18/Legacy/114/AAA-Vintage-12-/ I see these are selling on ebay and such for around £150, but due to damage to the strap (rubber lining coming away from metal strap, still works fine), am selling for £75 collected from B36 Birmingham. Hit me up with any trade offers - looking for compressors and any cheapo or project basses you have. Now Withdrawn tah.
