  1. I wish I mever sold mine now 😔 I might get some more and put them in my jazz, then sell on the SDs that are in there at the minute

  3. Sorry if this is the wrong place or if this has already been covered, does amyone know of any West Midlands-based luthiery courses? The kind of thing you turn up for a few hours each week and learn a new thing on how to make, set up, maintain, repair, etc. instruments? It is something I want to get into learning, and while there are a plethora of online guides that covers pretty much everything, I find nothing beats actually seeing someone do it and talk you through it. Cheers, HB
  4. the 60s Jazzmaster is a bit of me, even if I'm hopeless with guitar 😅 Will be interesting to see how they price up to other US made Fenders, especially the non-standard and AVRI stuff.
  5. There's a few articles online on how to do it. I had originally contacted @Chienmortbb about doing the mod, but he hasnt got back to me yet.
  6. Just as an update: Have bought a Marshall ED1 for a very reasonable price with a view to change out the capacitors in it. I have read a few tutorials online and it is as simple as unsolder cap, fit new cap, solder. Only problem is I don't have a soldering iron. Or any experience soldering... Still, these are meant to be great compressors for next to no money, so needless to say I am very happy 😊
  7. why do all the things I've had GAS for over the last 12 months all pop up in the same week when I have no money. Urghhh GLWTS
  8. So, I currently run as my main amp a Fender Rumble 500 head into an Orange OBC410 Cab. It is an amp/cab combination that I spent hours choosing in PMT this time last year, and I have to say I love the sound of it as much now as I did then. What I'm not too keen on is the weight of the Orange Cab. Also, 500w and a 4x10 is huge overkill for my current needs as a non-gigging bassist playing in my bedroom, but I don't want to downsize too much as I am looking at getting back into the gigging scene in the near future. So, does anyone know of a good replacement for the OBC410 that won't break my back or my wallet? I suppose budget will be whatever OBC410s sell for second hand. Or, I suppose the secondary question: Does anyone know of an easier way of transporting a 91lb Cab up and down the stairs from my room into the car when needs be?
  9. Personally I'd wait until the next screaming match happened and then bang on their door and tell them to shut up because it's really off-putting while you're trying to play your bass. Then go back to your amp, put it on as loud as you can stomach and face it to the adjoining wall, and repeatedly play the same note for a solid few minutes. If they complain just say you had to put it loud to hear it over their antics.
  10. Mike bought my bitsa PJ from me last weekend. Top bloke, great comms. Deal with confidence. HB
  11. still at this price on G4M so I've bought one as part of my pedal board overhaul will replace my Tone City Angel Wing (guitar chorus). Hope its as good as the reviews, but at the price it's hardly a big loss 😅
  12. on the topic of the Rumble's Overdrive, does anyone know what footswitch it is that works for it? All the ones I've seen some people say do work and some people say it doesn't.
  13. Gorgeous bit of kit that. I love my Epi T-Bird now I've started using it with a bit of compression and subtle overdrive. Happy NBD!!!
  14. Delighted to hear it Mike. All I can say is welcome to the "Andy built me my favourite bass" club. Take a pew between me and TheGreek, gelfin has that whole side of the table incase he pokes out our eyes with the Mouradian-esque
  15. nobody? Go through your tat drawers, there might be something I want!
  16. Blasphemy!!! I'll get a tesco cake and pass it off as my own work if needs be.
  17. Hi Guys, Just wondering if anyone has seen any good deals on Elixir Nanoweb steels (or similar long-lasting steels) recently? A few of my basses are due new strings and I've took a fondness to steels as of late, but the Rotos I use tend to not last too long. Cheers
  18. I believe that's the case with most Thomann basses - or maybe just Sires and Harley Bentons. Either way, of the 3 basses and 1 guitar I've had from Thomann, they've all had D'adds
  19. So differences I can see to a V7 : - Mahogany body instead of alder/ash - 20 frets instead of 24 - string through bridge instead of through body - different bridge because of this - Marcus standard jazz pickups instead of Marcus super jazz - dotted board instead of block and bound - a fair chunk cheaper
  20. Just when I was looking for a cheap beater to take to Uni with me too.
  21. Loved it last year, will be there again this year. Hopefully will have a few new pieces of gear to bring, and may bring the big amp too as it sat at home last year. Lets be honest though, we're all looking forward to the cake the most. Anyone in/around Castle Bromwich/ North or East Birmingham that needs a lift I am happy to pick up on the way. So long as your gear fits in the Fiesta.
  22. That thought combined with the "ask Andy to do XYZ" thought is a dangerous combination...
  23. yeah I agree to be fair. I think for me either the Psilos or Gelfins Mouradian. Psilos for workmanship (although there is incredible workmanship on the Mouradian) but the finished Mouradian is a bass I could see myself playing. It's a coinflip between them.
  24. Trying to work out which FB profile Bassassin is...
