  2. CALINE SNAKE BITE REVERB PEDAL IN MINTY CONDISH. Tried it , didnt get on with reverb on bass. I'm selling all my pedals anyway, so it's getting the chop with the others. All sacrificed in the name of lighter travel. Original box and blurb. Free post

  4. BOSS LMB-3 in great condition. Giving up my whole pedal board for lighter travel. Other pedals for sale. Original box / blurb Postage included Review from that pedal tester on Talkbass Boss LMB-3: This workhorse classic from Boss gets overlooked far too often. Sometimes because it's a Boss, and sometimes because it says "Limiter" in the name. In reality it is one of the most reliable and versatile compressors in its price range. The first thing to clear up is the "limiter" label. A limiter is just a compressor with a very high ratio, and usually with the threshold set high so only the taller peaks are affected. The LMB-3 can be used that way, but its ratio can be adjusted anywhere from 1:1 (a clean uncompressed boost) through light to medium smoothing and squeezing (e.g. 2:1 to 8:1), all the way up to infinity:1 hard peak limiting. So it actually covers a much wider range of dynamic response than most pedals labeled "compressor". And the threshold knob covers a decent range, allowing it to affect just as much of your signal as you want. The predecessor of this pedal, the LM-2B, was more accurately called a limiter due to having a fixed very high ratio. The tone of this pedal is very clean and dry. It's not a "fattening" effect, aside from the inherent results of compression. Boss sometimes gets a bad rap for its buffered bypass switching, in this case there is no problem--the bypass is transparent, unity gain, with perfectly flat frequency response. The fact is it sounds pretty good and does its job like a champ, and you can find one used for very cheap any day of the week, so it's a great value. It's also hard to find any other pedal in this price range that works so well as a peak limiter, for aggro playing, slapping, or peaks from an envelope filter. I would not hesitate to use one on a pro gig, as long as the inherent EQ shaping is suitable.
  5. Only 6 choices left of the 27 SEI basses on the BG site. Could be someone here .. Good job i didnt see that Flamboyant 4 that has SOLD on it.
  6. SMB were also really good with updates, even though the tracking number was with PF
  7. Just an addendum. I just recently sold a bass that wasnt considered that valuable ( 200 quid ) so decided not to use Lenspeed. I tried Send My Bag, who in my case, sent Parcel Force. I gave info on the SMB booking form that it was a bass, and they accepted this as they have their own insurance. A hard case wasnt needed, just bomb proof packing. Handy since i dont have hard cases. PF turned up on time, and the bass was delivered on time ( 48 hour with tracking ) That cost 28 quid, including 4 quid extra insurance to take cover to 200 quid. I'd certainly use SMB again, for inexpensive music gear. Anything valuable i would use Lenspeed again
  8. That's the one. If you dont mind spending a bit extra ( 55 quid ) for sending a bass, then Lenspeed are brilliant. Used them 3 times now. You get the owner when you phone or message them. They dont require a hard case, and they dont require a cardboard box. Just a gig bag will do, and you're fully insured. You'll get texts from his driver on impending delivery.
  9. No - still around https://www.sims.guitars/pickups Its weird that Enfields are still advertised
  10. Oh, they would love me then. Well maybe not as much as the Enfields, but hey.
  11. I've had stacks of those " is this still ...." blah blah on Facearsebook. I also think its a bot, and ignore any such messages if they dont come with an accompanying message from the interested party
  12. I bought a Dean off Alan, and now he's bought it back Sales dont get any easier ! A faultless deal. Thanks Alan
  13. No delay or reverb, but a smidge of chorus on all songs apart from 4 tracks, which i use a bit of flanger, wah effect and 2 tracks of fretless with chorus 2 tracks where i use fretless has some chorus but only just a bit more than the tracks that only have smidge The smidge of chorus is just to get a slight thickening, rather than to hear the chorus effect itself. You dont know it's on till you turn it off
  14. If it was a narrow string spacing 5 banger, say 16mm, might be ok, but i dont get on with wide fretboards for normal 5 string spacing.
  15. Tricky i'd say, as i dont own a 5 string.
  16. I effortlessy switch between my 4 string fretted and 4 string fretless.
  17. I used to own a C4. What a beautifully made bass. One of those selling regrets
  18. Yes it was agreed. The whole band uses it, and if it goes pop, we will all chip in for any repair.
  19. Gary Thain died in 1975 aged 27, so it was never going to be him on the track. Mind you, that Mark Clarke vid has already been seen in a recent thread here
  20. I dont think i've wung it ( winged it ? ) in any band i've ever been in. Nonetheless, if the songs were going to be simply structured, then its not a problem.
  21. I own the main dual tower PA ( subs n tops ) the rhyth git owns the mixer. We both provide monitors. His desk is old and worth very little compared to my Yam Stagepas pair, but it works just fine. Neither of us ask the other members for any kind of " hire " money. Of course if we had no PA then the whole band would have to split the cost of hiring a PA. If we only put vocals throught the PA, then it's the singers problem to buy or hire a vocal only setup, but in our crew, bass drum, bass git, rhyth git , keys and 4 vocals all go through, so its every bodies PA, except me and the mixer owner ask nothing for providing it. On the other hand, if either his mixer or my tower Yamahas go down and need repair, i would expect them all to help with repair costs. If i left the band, my towers go with me.
