  1. Oooh Oooh ..another vintage bass ! They just keep on coming. Is the £30 start price how much the seller will pay for someone to take it away and BBQ the demon ?
  2. And we're off again .. Ports sealed and baffle Tuff Cabbed. Box now part Tuff Cabbed
  3. Some basses listed under the vintage umbrella defy logic. He must be looking for a seller suffering from hard of thinking
  4. Ta EBSF. More pics soon, but my Nikon just run out of battery - on charge now, back later
  5. I def. prefer the smoother finish after i had the chance to check both.
  6. It goes on lovely. I changed the type of roller i used after one panel. Richard reckoned the micro fibre / polyester rollers ( mini 4" ) gave a better finish, and he was right. First panel was done with a sponge roller, and it leaves the finish a bit like sandpaper
  7. Oh .. Well, as a member of The Plod, i cannot be seen to be flouting IP laws, so i'll take another name I'm thinking Colon Leakage. That should be available
  8. Word of advice for anyone buying Tuff Cab.. I bought a 5kg tin ( although to be fair, it was the smallest size in the colour i wanted ) and i have rollered about 3 coats on 4 sides of the cab right now and this barely made an impact on the amount of Tuff Cab left in the tin. It looks like i havent used any 2.5kg would easily have been more than enough. In fact, i could do 4 cabs the size of the one i'm building with a 2.5kg tin
  9. Condom for a bass neck - this years fashion faux pas
  10. I wouldn't broach that subject , if i were you
  11. Walk upto him and say " you are Dave Smart of Twin Jet Superstar fame and i claim my £5 "
  12. I have no idea Freak. I have a photo of Dave in my Whatsapp contacts, and if i could somehow show it you in a PM, i would , but i have no idea how to grab a copy
  13. I possibly will see Dave sometime as i need some work doing. I'll mention the T Bird !
  14. Bit late to the Dave Smart party, Dave
  15. Dave Smart is quite a small bloke, and lean, like a whippet His web is actually https://www.smartguitars.co.uk/#about Not Dave Smart Guitars as i incorrectly stated
  16. @EBS_freak There used to be a couple of guys working in PMT in Oxford in a band called Twin Jet Superstar - I remember loving the guitarist's playing. Just been googling and it seems that the fella is called Dave Smart. Seems like he's moved on to pastures new and now has a repair business and got something to do with Oxford Guitar Gallery. There you go. The thread has rekindled some blast from past memories for me! Dave Smart is my amp tech. His web is Dave Smart Guitars. He's a lovely chap, so helpful. He's done much work for me in the past. He also builds guitars ( not sure about basses ) and they're stunningly made When my TE Mark V GP11 combo had a graphic and eq switch failure, he fitted the new switches ok, ( although a bit of a bar steward , apparently ) but i also wanted to keep the green TE outer covers so it still looked original, which according to Dave was a right pain, but he did it. He did a service too, and then a PAT test, which he sends to Gardener Electronics, an official PAT tester. Dave also serviced my Kustom Groovebass 1200 head, and did some remedial work to the circuit board, that some earhole had managed to murder
  17. Friend of mine who was in the Oxford band The Candyskins, used to work part time in PMT ( now owns and runs Shonk Studios in Oxford ) The Oxford branch of PMT are a helpful bunch
  18. Indeed Richard ! Being steered in the right direction with assembly order and which materials / tools would help, has been a mighty help
  19. I had some knobs made in the shape of a head.
  20. I'd never attempt a bass. See that router for sale in my sig ?
