2. Ahh,now we have somewhere to start. I would still say No3. 1/sounds cheap,if you know what i mean.Hofner ? 2/sounds the most "vintage".Starfire ? 3/Sounds the best.Overwater ?
3. It looks very similar to an Avon SG bass i had, complete cr*p.
4. Clip 3 has the fuller, rounder tone,to me.My favourite of the 3 clips, maybe thats the bass you like the most ? You would really ned to elaborate on "vintage"
5.
Very, very nice indeed, and don't take this the wrong way - but I reckon one of them twins is adopted.
Ahh,but they are both built by the same person.
6. Found it, http://www.jenolite.com/index.htm
7. I've had a quick search, but ca'nt find anything yet, because i ca'nt remember the manufacturers name. There is another product called Tekaloid that is also excellent, and should'nt be hard to find.
8. There was an excellent product that i used a few years ago called Re-paint,i painted this bike with it.3 coats then wet and dry paper, finish off with rubbing paste or solvol autosol for a high gloss finish.
9.
well its 20 fret as many of the 'original' fenders were, as its a 'replica' fender, so in some ways yes, but i prefer slightly shorter scale...can move quicker around the fretboard
20 frets does not make it a short scale bass.
10. Thats the 3/4 size one ?
11. My twins, both built by Howard (Bass doc)

13. Not within my budget they do'nt.
14. I just need an EB3 to complete the package now.Hmmmm, who makes the best short scale EB3 type ?
15. Ground up builds, and parts bass builds. The sunburst is nowhere near as bright as in most of the pics,it's more like in the full length shot.
16. About 12 or so years ago i had a very nice '68 Precision, but,i wanted a Jazz Pickup at the bridge and just could'nt take the plunge and get one fitted. So,it got traded for something else.I missed that bass almost from day 1. Howard (Bass Doc ) has made me a few basses in the past, but since i moved to Glasgow 8 years ago,we lost contact untill i started visiting this site, and low and behold there was a guy who's avatar was a picture of a nun holding a P type bass,it had to be Howard.I got in touch with him just before X-mass looking to re-create my old P bass, sent a deposit, and work started. The bass was collected on Saturday, and used on that nights gig.To say im pleased with the result is a Massive understatement. The PIs a perfect stablemate to my Jazz 5 that i had Howard build for me about 9 years ago. My spec included the body to have the correct contours,as i just ca'nt live with the freshly routed then painted look where you can see a line around the edges where the flat of the top is'nt sanded into the curvature of the sides.Jazz width neck, correct pattern tort scratch plate, nickel hardware, threaded rod type saddles, chrome covers, reverse tuners, and my usual EMG select pickups. Heres the result. In some of the pics the red/yellow looks bright, but that's due to my camera/skills. It may not be period correct in some ways, but it's the way my old '68 was, with the exception of the Jazz width neck. Thanks Howard.
17. I've just been searching for the exact same thing, chord charts. While you could possibly spend the rest of your life looking at guitar chord charts, there is very little for bass.
18. It took me a long time to "get it" with Jazz basses too,the shape just was'nt comfortable after Precisions and an EB3,but i persevered and have been playing Jazzes for about 10 years now.Funnily enough i just got myself a new Precision.
19.
It looks like it spent a week on the wall in your shop, Uncle H.
20. It looks like a Kipper.er i mean keeper,no definately a Kipper.
21. Not all active's are louder than passive.
22.
. Schallers are dodgy, I don't want to be making sure the screws are tight before a gig...
I have used them for years, they never come loose for me.Granted, the screws supplied are a touch smaller than the ones fitted as standard on a lot of guitars, but it is nothing that a cocktail stick and wood glue ca'nt fix.
