I've had a couple of Encore P basses,and i liked them.........................sorry.

This.Italia Modulus Tipo 3.It plays well enough,but it sounded very weak,then one of the lipstick pickups died (it had 4) My wife bought me it for my first T.V appearance.I tried to get some assistance from Italia/JHS,and Trevor Wilkinson,but they all just passed me arround,so,i whacked in a cheap pickup and it sounds MUCH better.Just need to get a scratch plate made.

Because when they werent "vintage" they were crap,and nobody wanted them ? especially 70's Jazzes.

Crikey..................i bet Jimmy Page wishes he could play like that.

If there are no problems with string balance,leave it as it is.You can still adjust the overall pickup height if you need to.

You can adjust the pole piece screws,but you only need to if one of the strings sounds louder or weaker than the rest.

There are proberbly more "vintage Fenders" than were ever made at the Fender factory.

When i set up the last one that i had,which was one of those cheap £69 ones,i adjusted the truss rod,filed down the saddle and nut,and it played very nicely. Filing the saddle down was by trial and error,it was on and off the bass about a dozen times untill it was right.

It's one of the nicest looking basses Fender made imo,i will get one one day,sunburst & tort.

I have a feeling that the cab was his from his prog rock days.

I do'nt know if it's still there,but there was one in McKays Music in Newcastle about 6 years ago,that had been there since the dawn of time. 1970 (or earlier)- 1974ish,was the coloured cab period.Rare because they are rubbish,most will have ended up being thrown away.

I had one a loooong time ago in purple with 15" speaker,i think that 18" speakers were also an option.It was cheap,horrible and almost impossible to get rid of.I converted mine into a 4 x 12 as it is the same size.

Red,gold hardware,road-worn the proper way.

Something to think about............if you go custom,you may not like the end result,neither may many other people if you decide to sell.

I certainly do'nt have money to burn,never have had.If i really wanted an Alembic ,or whatever,i would get one somehow. Similar thing with my Harley.Now,i've allways wanted one since starting biking in 78 ish,had over 50 bikes,never spent more than £1,500 on one.Im in my late 40's now,3 kids,11,6,and 3,and the £8000 it cost to buy it no doubt could have been more wisely spent you could say. Do i need it ? not really. Do i want it ? Yes. Does it do anything different to any of the far cheaper bikes i've had ? No,it just puts a great big smile on my face every time i ride it,and it's nothing to do with the "Harleys best fcuk the rest" attitude because that's not me at all.

Just buy it.What has usefulness got to do with G.A.S.......discuss......
