It's the standard Mad Beans Slow Lorris, so it's essentially a Rat (LM308) with the Ruetz mod (a frequency clipping sweep) and diode selection (diodes/none/leds). Should be cool, looking forward to the Egghead (Clark Gainster) and the Green Russian Muff kit to Si
The RAT with no clipping diodes is a beast, especially coupled with a few other mods
  2.
Likewise, mine broke about a month ago after 2 years of almost daily use but I read a lot about other peoples lasting a very short space of time. I've replaced them with a pair of Soundmagic e10's which are a step up in terms of sound quality and come with (I think) 7 different rubber earpieces. Too early to say how reliable they are though.
My brother is actually on his 4th pair - the first lasted a few years, the second a year and the third a few months. Maybe they're getting worse

You can't. You can however do what Johnston did and delete all your posts one by one to prove a point
  5. I have had a pair of CX300's for about 6 years, used daily. My brother has gone through 3 sets in the same amount of time.
  6.
Just re read the thread to try to see the knife. There's been some grumps, but come on compared to what you might see elsewhere on the interweb it has all been pretty civilised just trying to get updates, even so far as keeping it off the forums & in private discussions. I have tried to keep any comment low key throughout in any post be it in open forum or privately, and am not about to nor ever have hurled any sort of abuse - same really for pretty much everyone involved I think. I have Howard number (from the private discussions), have texted and may follow up at the w/e with a call - though this month is hell for me at work - but as my query is no longer with regard to the plate that arrived (broken by Royal Mail) but the follow on I have left that hanging rather than disturb him re that.
+1 a bit of frustration showing, nothing nasty. I received Howard's number from the private thread too, which is simply a running commentary of updates between a few members - no abuse what so ever. Compare this to another thread on here where members are screaming for a retailer (incidentally also in the NE) to be "named and shamed"
  7. Got a reply last night to say the plate is ready to be sent but the address got mixed up, hopefully there are no more obstacles in sending it now
  8.
is this why in 412's (bass cabs anyway) the speakers are staggered? andy
That's to reduce the floor footprint mainly
  9. Sell to second highest bidder, take the bass round so they can inspect and be happy with the sale, everyone's a winner
  10. That green relic'd one Warwick were advertising a month or so ago. Hideous.
  11.
You don't think that knowing lots of music theory would allow you to play more extreme-sounding music when you want to?
Knowing lots of theory doesn't necessarily make you a good musician
  12. I know no theory, I might as well sell all my gear now
  13.
Offended clowns: Feel free to start your own thread about how fun it is to be mediocre. Please feel welcome if your intention is to discuss the topic. Thanks.
What are your thoughts on metronomes? Do you own a pair of Hi Tec trainers?
  14.
The 3012LF is 12" driver. No 12" driver is the best thing for the job over about 2k because they become directional above there. Thus to do the best job, you use the 12s up to the point they are the best and use something else higher.
The usable frequency range of the Super Twelve is up to 4kHz. The rated spec of the driver (Kappalite 3012LF as mentioned earlier) is usable to 2kHz, where does the extra 2kHz come from? Same with the Midget. Discrepancies in the power handling too, each cone is rated to 450W yet recommended amp power is 1200W.
  15.
Is anybody else reading this and thinking that if you have to turn off features that are commonly agreed to be a waste of time, be careful how you connect the cabs for fear of idiosyncratic 'features' and then if all else fails declare it faulty, an ABM head might be a bad idea?
Not really, the majority of people don't run an octave pedal all the time so why use it on an amp?
  16. The earlier mentioned 'cheapo' 12" is in my Schroeder 1210L alongside an equally 'cheapo' 10". Using my ABM head the Schroeder walked all over a Compact when I A/B'd them in a band scenario.
  17. My 1210 originally had a Speakon and a jack so I just replaced the jack with a second Speakon
