1.
I have to say that I really agree with this. I've owned a mid '80's Thumb and Streamer and, although I quite liked both, the Thumb really summed up the whole Warwick vibe for me. This may sound somewhat 'blasphemous' but if you like the idea/look/feel of a Streamer then i'd definitely check out the 'original' version - a Spector I've owned a few of these & much preferred them to my old Streamer. However - if you fancy a Thumb, then this '87 is rather nice: Not that I'm showing any bias here of course - but you could PM me if you like the look of it. . .
Damn you! I've been clean and GAS-free for 10 months and you've gone and done this! Molan, are you selling your Thumb? Think i'm with the OP, this bug is catching!
 2. That's the great thing about basses - you don't have to be monogamous; you can indulge in whatever takes your fancy!
 3. Glad you're enjoying it Stag; I got an identical one in July last year and for me it is perfect!
 4.
That Ric is a real looker. Oli did a nice job on that plate. Like the Jazz a lot too, classy colours those.
Thanks mate, the Rick is probably my perfect bass especially after I managed to get a good pup cover to fill the gaping hole (oo-er). I need Oli to start making P plates now so that I can sub in something similar to replace the BIG PIMPIN anodised gold one on the '57.
 5. My camera skills leave a lot to be desired, but here is my little lot: L-R: 2010 Jetglo Rickenbacker 4003, 2009 Blonde Fender American Vintage '57 Precision, 2002 Sunburst Fender MIM Jazz 2010 Jetglo Rickenbacker 4003 with custom brushed stainless steel scrathplate made by our own Mr. Foxen. 2009 Blonde Fender American Vintage '57 Precision - I love the grain beneath the nitro finish. Looks better with the ashtrays fitted, but I can't bring myself to make holes in the body. 2002 Sunburst Fender MIM Jazz - Not all that special to most; other than changing scratchplate and pots it's standard, but this was my only bass between 2004 - 2008.
 6.
I would hazard a guess that the people who play more than just bass are also songwriters?
Yes, but songwriter in the very loosest of terms.

 8. I primarily play bass in a band situation, occasionally playing baritone guitar and synths (sub bass and fuzz); always leaning towards the lower and rhythmic end of the spectrum even if it's not pure bass guitar. Personally, I find using a guitar or keyed instrument better for writing purposes though.
 9. I like the tone of open notes, they seem to have a bit more of a punchy tone than their fretted equivalents.
 10.
I don't like using picks that flex,I find that I lose speed and control.
I'd agree with this statement. I use the exact pick you have mentioned, a 2mm Dunlop (purple one right?); in fact, I think I have used the same individual pick for the last five years. God knows how I haven't lost it yet! Using a nice thick pick combined with playing parallel to the strings and below the bridge pickup on my Rick or Precision gives me my ideal growly tone.

 12.
I need to start asking for commission soon. By the way, have you seen my big PJB rig too?
DON'T DO THAT!!! February has been expensive enough as it is!
 13.
PS Gareth, great review C
+1 it was actually this review that sealed the deal for me (so to speak). I am looking forward to some alone time with it this weekend.
 14. I've just bought one of these and took it to a low-key rehearsal last night. I can't believe that a bass actually sounds like a bass out of speakers that small! ...and it's red too, which was a nice surprise!
 15. First Bass: Yamaha ERB070 Fretless Go to bass: Fender Precision My bass: Rick 4003
 16. I usually play baritone guitar or electric bass. I don't really see the point in using an acoustic bass (unless it's a double bass, which I definitely can't play ).
 17.
A bass playing missus? Respect to that man.
Not anymore unfortunately; she's done putting me to shame for the forseeable future.
 18.
I have one of these, it is indeed the celestion in it (assuming it's stock). Served me well for almost 10 years through heavy gigging.
Thanks Thom, I thought it was but wasn't certain and didn't really fancy taking it apart to find out. It's a quality amp, we just don't need it anymore!
 19.
Where in Bristol are you WFS ??
Sorry for the late reply, I have been MIA for the last four days with flu. Dont't worry i'm over it now! I'm in Whitehall near Easton, but can deliver to pretty much anywhere in Bristol.
 20. The amp is 7-8 years old. I will have to check the speaker when I go to my house in Bristol tomorrow.
