You've spelled Metal wrong in the drop-down box on the loop search on the front page.
No he has not. But he has left out a space. Me_Tall - is in fact a style/groove adopted by over seven foot tall African tribal Musicians, Good stuff and a great idea for guys all over the globe to hook up. I hope it takes off. Garry

Going straight into another band might be a good idea - then again it might not. The next band you go into, might have you feeling paranoid after what has been said to you. Get a teacher, have a few lessons, let him point you into some kind of direction, and get you enthusiatic again, and dare i say it, structure it all out a bit. This will all help with getting the confidence levels up again, and some discipline into your playing. Some theory under your belt will never go a miss, whatever anyone says. Upward and onward my friend, and good luck with it all. Garry

Thats better - Sounds great. Garry

Got a match for me [Elektric Band].... 23 years of trying and it stills sounds like tom tit. And it still has a habit of rearing its head, and talking of heads, stonking line. Garry -
The tour is the 'COMING HOME' tour
Is this 'The coming Home Tour' for that old Rock & Roll Trio...... 'Broke, Novak 'n' Good...? Garry -
Exactly.....I was referring to the others that said it's normally in E minor
Well its done in either key [Gm or Em] Depends on who' taking the head i suppose. I have played it equally in both keys over the years. I think the Em/G came about from the early Fake book days, when i think it was based around a Bill Evans recording of the time that was floating around. Of course singers/turns tend to do it in just about every key going. Busking changes wise, its an easier tune [or should be] because it goes nicely around the chord cycle and nothing to trip you up. For anyone interested, i picked these Transcriptions up a couple of years ago. One is a Neils Pederson Version, the other Ron Carter. On another note was Ipanema not written in some other key - like Db? Goes to show the importance of playing/practicing in all keys - It toughens up the ears, Garry
It's a rule of thumb that can lead to many a car crash too, sadly. "Autumn Leaves, key of B minor..."
Quite.... Autumn Leaves is usually [Fake Book - and possibly written key].....E minor [G major/ 1#] Garry
Just lately I have been getting a few tunes from sheet music (proper notation!) but rarely have I seen anything with a key signiture....unless I'm looking in the wrong place? example: I worked out that this must be F major...I say must be, it has a Bb and F maj seems to work, the tune isn't important...unless I need to purchase the actual music and then I get the key?
Here you go, i was feeling nice with nothing to do. Verse/Intro in C major - Chorus in D major. You will need to add your own grace/slur notes etc [in the intro G up to A], and do you own ending or whatever Garry
Why is the tune not important? From that short PDF you have attached, it looks like its in the key of 'C' - so no sharps or flats. When you purchase Pop 'Sheet Music' it is usually a Piano sheet, and more than likely just a basic guide with melody, chords and basic other stuff. But will certainly have key signatures. For people having trouble transcribing stuff, these Piano sheets would be a good starting point for working stuff out. For Bass specific lines [if thats what you are after], you would be better of looking for the stuff people post up in the Theory section, [there is also plenty of links to external sites for written Bass lines in the section] Its a shame they can not be all listed into one post for easy finding & reference. By the way - I think the original from your tune posted is in 'D' - 2 sharps. Garry

Been doing this with some guys, and its a great track to play. I use my Fretless Jazz Bass with just the back PUP, and it works [Bass Synth on original] On the track it does not sound Sequenced, so has a loose fill, also its round & round then fade from bar 121-124. We use the option ending at bar 125, but just ignore that. If you wanna play along, its this version.
I don't think any 'musos' can say anything when there are players like Brent Mason and Dan Huff on guitar and great bass players like Glenn Worf,Michael Rhodes,Dave Pomeroy,Mike Brignardello and loads more. Even more 'name' musicians like Brad Paisley have got major chops. Special mention to Jerry Douglas who's the baddest Dobro player around.
+1 The whole Nashville scene is littered with top class/quality players. Garry -
The guy from Imagination (Just An Illusion), Ashley Ingram, played one.
No he didn't - It was Just an Illusion. Fretless one - was it not? My first five string - Yep a Wal, [1988] Garry
There is a Westone Thunder on ebay just now with what the seller describes as issues, one of these is the previous owner drilled a hole in the headstock to hang it on the wall. This has made my day, I'm still laughing as I type this. Regards Jim
I think the previous owner had issues, not the Bass. He should relist on Ebay under 'Weston Blunder'. Garry

Just like to say thanks to everyone one today, and it was great to meet you all. Really good to have a natter about the gear, and what a great selection of gear you all had. [Put my battered up plank to shame ] Got to hear a couple of Basschat stories - One in particular still has me having a giggle now. Oh, Dusty - you need to do away with those large cakes when there are kids around. My lad could not eat his Dinner..... Nice one chaps. Garry
By contrast, the MB double bass player is superb, absolutely "in the pocket", lovely fills and rakes, and the whole feel is great. And of course this arrangement, which I've played many times, is brilliant.
Yep it is great - Swings and is so well arranged with some great playing from the band all round. As for the original - just a pop tune of its time that is used as a token attempt at a 'Jazz/Swing tune' by Function bands, The Moondance Bass line is littered with bad time, no swing and clams all over the place towards the end. VM's money may well be all gone - but we are still left with that Bassline.... Garry
