  1. The 60's were great for Big Band theme tunes... I don't really need to post The Flintstones (Rhythm Changes) theme. It's probably ear worm to a few of us ...
  2. I know Michael Leeson penned the lyrics, but Bill Conti sure knows how to compose an opening title sequence...
  3. Edit - Double Post. For some reason, I can't seem to find how to delete a post on Basschat. Yet, I can name a couple of Sax players on a Cagney & Lacey session from years ago...
  4. Composer Patrick Williams wrote some stunners as well. "On television, his music accompanied Columbo, Lou Grant, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Bob Newhart Show, The Streets of San Francisco to name a few".
  5. Bill Conti was another terrific TV theme writer (and main film themes for that matter). I loved the 'Cagney & Lacey' tune he composed. Great playing Ray Pizzi on Alto Sax and the amazing Ernie Watts on Tenor Sax. And of course, his 'Dynasty' opening theme:
  6. Yeah, it was. In fact, he played on a lot of Mike Post's TV show themes. IIRC, he met Mike Post on some sessions with the Wrecking Crew. I like Mike Post's writing and over the years have transcribed a few of his tunes. I couldn't believe it when I stumbled on him posting on Facebook a couple of months ago where he is very active talking/posting stuff about his career. (there is a wealth on good info on there). It's amazing that he had just crash landed onto Social Media after all these years!! https://www.facebook.com/mikepostcomposer The is a video interview with him on his website (six short episodes). https://mike-post.com/biography/
  7. I agree and, he has a nice musical feel about him. He certainly knows what he is doing:
  8. The Silent Music video: The official video:
  9. Dancing in the Street - The Jagger & Bowie version. They should be made to eat it, and when nature calls, open up their bowls and deposit it down the nearest available toilet.
  10. I've seen a couple of versions on YouTube. A Pizzicato version and an ambitious combination of Arco & Pizz...
  11. "The English do not really care for music, but they absolutely love the noise and clatter that John makes." **
  12. Yeah, probably. But on the other hand, it might do wonders for his new T-Shirt merchandise sales... " @Charles Berthoud, a self-promoting PITA" .
  13. With 1.78 million YouTube subscribers, he should offer them all a copy at £1 a go.
  14. @CharlesBerthoud‧ 1.78M subscribers‧425 videos https://www.charlesberthoud.com/about.html I think he probably does all right for himself and he strikes me as a very accomplished musician.
  15. A nice freebie Library from 'Audiobro' that works in the free Kontakt player. You have to give your email address etc and they will send you an email with the serial number for Native Access. Silver - Audiobro
  16. A lot of musicians and the general public to this day, have not acknowledged, or are even aware of the achievements of John 'JR' Robinson. He was also responsible for one of the most iconic drum intros in pop history. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Robinson_(drummer)
  17. Because 'Skankdelvar' mentioned Convolution Reverbs, I thought this link might be handy if anyone is looking for a free Convolution Reverb VST along with some (interesting) free IR's. At the top of the list is 'Convology XT' by Impulse Record. Defiantly worth a look, even if you have a CR. FREE Convolution Reverb VST Plugins and IR's
  18. It's always worth having a look at the Native Instruments 'Free' offerings. Some decent Instruments and FX to get you going, plus they always have good upgrade prices and sales going on. Another vote for the Motu M4 here. I've had mine quite a while now, it is very solid and works great at very low latency for recording. https://www.native-instruments.com/en/catalog/free/
  19. Very sad news to read. R.I.P. OHM
  20. I thought 'Yacht Rock' was a term relating to West Coast music between 1974 and 1984? I'm quoting the time frame from Wiki and other sources saying early/mid 70's through to the early 80's - but that seems about right to me considering the songs that are associated with the term. 'The Way It Is' was released in 1986, so if 'some people' want to label that as 'Yacht Rock', I'm happy for them. The other two were released later, 1991 and 2002.
  21. 'Southern Soft Rock Country Blues Piano Hooked Pop Music'...
  22. More free libraries for Kontakt. Unfortunately, these particular libraries are only for the full retail version of Kontakt. Muze Deals for Kontakt
  23. There is a list up on the Native Instruments website with some of the free libraries available from 3rd party developers (for both Kontakt and Kontakt player). Also in the (so far) three pages of comments, some posters have included some more links. Free Kontakt Libraries
