1. John Scofield Trio with Steve Swallow - Beautiful.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPhJn6pz6Fg
  2. A little Xmas share for some recording freebies. Ho, Ho, Ho... http://bedroomproducersblog.com/free-vst-plugins/
  3.
Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington's version of Mack The Knife. Can't do a link but it is on Youtube.
It don't get any better than that for (the obvious) key changes - Although I do love both Sinatra's and Darren's versions.
  4.
Does cubasis have all the virtual instruments, drums etc?
Yep, and they are excellent. Learning curve is more in Cubasis, unless you are a Cubase user. GarageBand is certainly easier to get up and running.
  5. I use ipad when on the go (mainly Midi work) and GarageBand is fine but in my Studio I use Cubase, so I started using Cubasis on the ipad because I could Import Cubasis files straight into Cubase. I found that Cubasis has a lot more going for it than GarageBand, And has a lot more sounds that sound better for my use. Midi editing is much more in depth as well. Down side...It cost 35 notes. Check out the tutorial Videos on the right hand side. http://www.steinberg.net/en/products/ios_apps/cubasis.html
  6. John Robinson, Ricky Lawson (who is sadly very unwell) Carlos Vega (who is sadly very dead) I might have to update 'Drummers' soon in my contact book. To be honest three is not enough for me, so many great Drummers out there.
  7.
I wonder who played bass on it?
Paul Westwood (he was a UK session player at the time) was on the album, so most likely him, But.......Kuma Harada also did a track or two, so possibly him - so to answer your question...I don't really know. And as you probably already know, it was Louis Johnson on the Quincy Jones version. A great well written tune, and both versions excellent in their own way.
  8. You could start here http://basschat.co.uk/forum/84-bassists-available/
  9. I also remember Donald Fagen's 'The Nightfly' being used as a demo-disc in hi-fi shops, and it was also good for using as reference for studio monitoring systems.
  10.
Here's a bass hook that's been sampled http://m.youtube.com...v%3DivIYVIS415o
And here it is, in all it's glory. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHLewcdIWlw
  11.
to be fair its a dog, BHS
Sorry..... A dog dressed as a bear, that's got to be an Off Topic meltdown. As I said above, lovely looking room, very nice indeed.
  12.
I forgot he was there , because he always is
The spider is not a worry, But that bear is - It looks tanked up and shagged out. Have you ever seen the film Ted ? Nice looking room.
  13.
Here's an example of a Film Soundtrack that Carol Kaye played on....
The level of playing standard on all this stuff from that period of gems never stops amazing me. And not to mention the top, top arranging and writing is criminal. It was great how most of the players and writing/arranging teams on those sessions drew from all their Jazz background experience. Thanks for the video post, not stumbled on that one before.
  14.
Diesel Doug and the Long Haul Truckers, If I'd Shot Her When I Met Her (I'd Be Out Of Jail By Now).

  15. Well played Bill. No matter what you transcribe (any Instrument), the end result will always be good for your (anyone's) ears, and a better understanding of harmony/theory etc. Others may think it a waste of time of course, otherwise it would not be Basschat. Garry
  16.
Here we go, folks, the ball is now rolling (and in your court..!). Here's my offering for this months Challenge... Dreams of a patchy dormeur... Let me know if there's any problems with the link, or whatever... Enjoy...
Ha Ha...This is really good (I have left some comments on Soundcloud) Sounds like a Chicken got under the duvet at 02:04 Very, very well composed. Garry
  17. Well done Spoombung, great bit of writing. Garry
  18. Sorry to hear about your Father and the bad news. Gear is all replaceable (sell it all). Best wishes with all this. Garry

Full version £41.50 until 3rd December, there is a cut down version as well for £20.99 https://store.notionmusic.com/index.php?content=software Forum, http://forum.notionmusic.com/viewforum.php?f=2&sid=04fa12a15a550be6b93ec795409fd938 Tutorial videos, http://www.notionmusic.com/support/tutorials.html Garry
  20.
Paul Jackson Jnr
Along with John Robinson, they kinda made things work.
  21.
sounds like she's being constructive and polite so I'm not sure if the negativity from some posters is justified.
Might well be the case, a phone call or face to face usually gets to the bottom of things better than emails or texts, or even better, they spend the night together in a hotel.
  22.
Tell her to stop talking sh*t and concentrate on her bit.
Top advice, but without my glasses I thought you said concentrate on her tit...
  23. A hard choice, but in the end one really hit the picture vibe for me, with thoughtful arranging, a good strong theme and avoided a lot of repetition. Good stuff all round, top marks to everyone.
Spoombung

  24. Not mad at all, nice trio of excellent players having a good time, and of course played well. Love the arrangement and really nice to hear something different up on Basschat. Garry
