1.
Six months on upright and they all feel small.
It has to be this.
 2.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNj9bXKGOiI
I loved the slap sound from Marcus back in the early days (this track). More throaty, maybe before he had the preamp fitted? Similar sound on the Dave Grusin album 'Mountain Dance', which was recorded about a year earlier. I find that musical ideas just pour out of MM. His Fretless solos are very musical and lyrical.
 3. Most of the people I expected to be there, are. And In the order I expected from 'Rolling Stone'. Considering the amount of top TV/Film/Album sessions and credits (100's) they have, I am surprised that Carlos Vega and Harvey Mason are not mentioned. Hey ho, it's just a Brahms and Liszt, list.
 4.
Truth. Bottom line - this groove is great...but isn't difficult in the grand scheme of things. These guys live on playing that kind of stuff, so it's second nature to them. Anyone who finds what I've just said controversial or offensive - or indeed, has taken offence at anything Blue has said - simply needs to grow the fk up; musically and otherwise.
I have to agree, Jaywalker.
 5. ^^^^^ Yes!, Roscoe Beck is a lovely player.
 6.
I still think Marcus Miller when he plays finger style is just one of the best bass players alive. But he is not Pino Palladino.
Why would he want to be Pino, when he has made a stonking career as Marcus Miller? PP and MM are different players in style. There are far too many players for me to list that I really like, even those players still never cease to amaze me, I am always hearing something new with every listen. Yes, Marcus Millers finger/fretless playing is great. http://youtu.be/CCnQOmzukRs
 7.
Very rare footage though - there's not a lot of this type of stuff. I am a total Jaco nut...it's good to see something new
Jaco fan as well, and yes, good to see new footage.
 8.
Really? I thought that was pretty much standard procedure, start off slow & build up to full speed.
Not on Jaco material. You start of on full speed, and then get faster and faster. Usually on a gig.
 9.
R.I.P. Ronnie c and the funky theme tune to sorry! When is someone going to pay more attention to the genius that was the ronnie hazlehurst band, the theme from are you being served has such cool bass and the sorry theme is just fantastic as was a load of others.Who was Hazlehursts bass beau. Theres not much on the net.
One of his Bass players was 'Dave Richmond'. There is some info on this link regarding Musicians that RH used, and people he was involved with - An interesting read. http://www.verygoodplus.co.uk/showthread.php/5064-Ronnie-Hazlehurst Yes, he wrote some great memorable theme tunes and was a very respected Musical Director. Credit list is very impressive http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0372024/
 10.
Can I assume that there'll be an appropriate hand-over ceremony, with speeches, ribbon cutting and light refreshments, for the Official Prize-Giving..? Not sure I'll be available to attend, though; [s]busy social calendar, doncha know..?[/s] can't get further than a few yards at the moment. On the same subject, has anyone dared to tell Ped yet that there was a tie for silver..? I'm sure he won't want one of those great polos cut in half (yes, they are great; I really am wearing mine right now..!); I hope his pockets are deep enough to cover the extravagance..!
Or, they take turns wearing the one Polo shirt, without ever washing it.
 11.
Just briefly flicked through the thread. It may have been mentioned already : soundcloud is going to be a subscription service I believe . Now my experiences over the last couple of weeks : I found it more clumsy to use. The layout seems to have changed. Keep seeing subscribe message , ahead of my recordings . Sounds messy the way I'm explaining it , but as a person who doesn't use it a great deal , I find it has changed for the worse. I will probably subscribe but don't like the subtle changes .
On windows desktop, nothing has changed for me, apart from one advert that pops up on the top right hand side. Once I close that, everything seems the same and runs pretty smoothly. On the iPad everything seems as normal. I think you might be talking about 'Soundcloud Go', a subscription service, different from the free App/version, Pro App/version. But who knows? They are not really being very clear about it at the moment. https://blog.soundcloud.com/2016/03/29/introducing-soundcloud-go/ "For listeners, there are now two awesome ways to experience SoundCloud. SoundCloud will continue to be the place to listen to, discover and share new tracks from emerging and established artists for free. With SoundCloud Go, the experience has also been expanded to include access to even more tracks, offline and ad-free:"
 12. Isn't this a different service to the free version app? Off line music, no adds, more storage etc...
 13. ^^^ Christ, a key change! Can't remember the last time I heard one A couple more here. http://youtu.be/Yhy2eLp_Ap8 http://youtu.be/cbDm9HCO8P0
 14. Voted. A few interesting takes on the image. Some captured the picture more than others this month for me, but well done all.
 15.
Sorry, just it is a bit of an oddity, something very European about it, and not particularly well known over here. They've always paid big money and got top names to do it - I worked with a couple of acts that did it around the turn of the century and couldn't believe their luck with both the exposure and the fee
Sure is odd, and yes, most definitely very European.
 16. Yep, I realised it wasn't the UK Proms. Just been watching some of the other shows. That Orchestra is great. So organic with the Disco tunes. Donna Summer http://youtu.be/jIMKidYql94
 17. Just come across this. Chic (well Niles) with an Orchestra in 2007 at a Prom. The Orchestra are superb, and the Bassist does are very nice job. http://youtu.be/5eqXetqqvuc
 18. Really good Horn writing, very catchy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yhy2eLp_Ap8
 19.
Thats the fella. Can't remember why i think he is linked to Heatwave too. Bit of googling to do.
Yep, he wrote and played Keys with Heatwave, although I think he stopped touring with them.
 20.
We've only just got started. How about these guys? Didn't he go on and write most of the Michael Jackson stuff with Quincy Jones? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojaFHxonofw
Sounds like you are talking about Rod Temperton. I can't see him on that video, unless he is lurking in the background. He is a white guy from Cleethorpes . He wrote six or seven tunes for QJ and MJ. Although he had a pretty impressive credit list with others as well. Top, top writer. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rod_Temperton
 21.
Dallas was played by Arni Egilsson
I think you might be thinking of the first season theme. Above was season three and a different session. I do believe there were several versions over the complete run.
 22. And more....!! "Cagney & Lacey" (1982). Again, that little busy bee Lee Sklar. http://youtu.be/6GthsX_ps4A Check out the players on "Moonlighting" http://youtu.be/ZXibq3cklbI Well, that YouTube Channel list should keep all you Theme Tune lovers busy for a while. I know it will me.
 23. "LA Law". Lee Sklar on Bass. http://youtu.be/JmFCXFsbydk "Dallas" (Season 3). Some serious players in the Orchestra! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIvJl6208rU
