1. Although for W10, there is a thread running for movie editors. If you check the specs on the suggestions, I am sure there will be stuff for W7. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/285632-video-editing-in-windows-10/
  2. More than likely been posted before. I am a Chick Corea fan, so it pains me to post this, but it is funny... Oh man, the Bass... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clF_SNa23lI
  3. I know this thread is a two man show with the odd groupie hanging on, But, another $20.00 gem has landed. Very unique sounds and you can do some very clever tricks with it. A real Diamond. http://impactsoundworks.com/products/electronic/sonic-forest/
  4.
Wow those Solo Strings sound way better than in the demos! Glad you convinced me to buy them
Yep, they are very good. I think the deals are on because of a launch of their new website. Even without the 50% off, still pretty good price.
  5. ^^^^ Come on, spill the beans... Video interview with Will Lee. http://www.ny1.com/nyc/bronx/one-on-1/2015/05/18/one-on-1-profile--will-lee-closing-out-33-years-as-bassist-in-david-letterman-s-band.html
  6.
Another Will Lee/Anton Fig rhythm section. Love this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCkx5O7zUU0
Yes, great. I like the way they mess with the meter (pardon the pun) on the head, and it still sits.
  7.
You are right! I put it down to old farts memory or lack thereof. Although I thought I remembered catching a few shows with Hiram AND Anton playing? Nah probably not.... my fevered imagination again.
You might well have seen Hiram, possibly depping.
  8. Yep, HB was great, but I think Steve Jordan was Drumming back then, not Anton Fig ? The Worlds Most Dangerous Band? Not sure why I am getting all busy and Geeky, they are all great.
  9.
Heh, I ended up going for Storm Choir in the VST Buzz sale instead! http://vstbuzz.com/d...ezov-sampling/.
I was looking at that, sounds lovely, but has no dynamics, it's just full on fff. I ended up with Soundiron Elements, it has various dynamics, key switching and more vowels. The divisi legato sounds very nice. I suppose at the end of the day, they all sound great, it's what is best for your needs. http://soundiron.com...-player-edition Re the Kirk Hunter strings, for around £12.00 for (excellent) solo strings, it is bargain of the year. Plenty of key switches and articulations. Even If you don't use them for small ensemble writing, they sound great as layers on top of other libraries. Another nice freebie here from FluffyAudio. Some very nice sound design sounds. http://fluffyaudio.com/shop/aurorror/ Wavefactory do a nice collection of Instruments that are very cheap. http://www.wavesfactory.com/index.php They also do some freebies, the DrumCircle is very usable. http://www.wavesfactory.com/drumcircle.php
  10. An excellent deal at the moment from Kirk Hunter. 50% off everything. Just use code 50OFF https://www.kirkhunterstudios.com/ Solo Strings work out at $20.00!!, and they sound great. https://www.kirkhunterstudios.com/products/solo-strings-1/
  11.
Fantastic player. Him and Anton Fig together KILLED.
A nice little bunch of grooves from the pair. along with Paul Shaffer and Sid McGinnis. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jerKF5nuqM
  12.
Still, lots of cheesy fun so no harm in sticking it up again
Absolutely, always worth an encore.
  13. Yep great version, I posted this last year. WL does a terrific job along with an outstanding Orchestra. Love the cake at the end... Wasn't Will the voice of Ronald MacDonald many moons ago? I am sure I read that somewhere. I know he did commercial vocal sessions as well as Bass.
  14. This is excellent. Great stuff dude.
  15.
A few noodles using Philharmonik. The first three with the 'normal' mode; one can hear the awful slurring due to lousy fingering on my part. The instrument must be tuned spot on, I find. The last four are using the 'chromatic' mode, where pitch bending doesn't occur (harp, string section...)... I've no idea if this will help anyone, but the gadget does what I want to use it for.I'm keeping it (but keeping my keyboard, too..!). Sonuus 4 ...
Thank's for that. As we were looking for adding CC#'s and taking advantage of expression maps, articulations, etc, we decided to go another route. USB breath controller, along with our trusted old AKAI MidiMix (slider controller). There are plenty of good reviews around, plus it has been tested with Omnisphere, Kontakt, VSL and Spitfrire Audio. http://www.tecontrol.se/products/usb-midi-breath-controller Demo videos. https://www.native-instruments.com/forum/threads/tec-breath-controller-is-cool.233209/
  16.
It's been seven hours and fifteen days.
Now that she has been found.
  17. Wasn't Colin Hodgkinson doing it back then as well ? He was also doing chordal work along with soloing.
  18. He has very dry wit. "There was a theft! But, of course, if it was up to me, every two years I would win an Oscar" The man is a genius. Love him and his music. http://youtu.be/CtQf5zwNBzw
  19.
Reviving this thread because I have only just discovered the joys of Jerry Jemmott. I was listening to a Wilson Pickett greatest hits CD in the car. There's his cover of 'Hey Jude' on it. I was instantly struck by the fact that the bass playing was somewhat tasty No musicians listed on the CD, but after a bit of googling I discovered it was Jerry Jemmott. Wow. Can't believe I'd never heard of him before.
http://youtu.be/0y8Q2PATVyI
  20.
I'll give it my best...
Not good enough.
  21.
Useful..? To me, definitely. Will it do all..? Quite probably not, but I'll find the limitations as I continue the trials. For the moments, I'm having best results using a guitar, rather than a bass (but that's the range I'm wanting, anyway, for now...), and using the 'chromatic' mode, which hones in on exact semitones rather than absolute pitch. I'm finding (but it's early days...) that the pitch sensitivity is too high for my poor playing; one has to have a very 'clean hand' for it not to waver about . Only hundredths, but enough to throw it, so I'm not using the guitar vibrato at all, only that of the Vst. I'd say, then, that half of the expression is 'baked in', as you say; the rest is the lightness of touch and playing style. Certainly, I can do a run through of a few instruments; I've been using Alpine's English Horn (it's like an oboe; also known as a cor anglais...), but will strike up a session with Philharmonik this evening or tomorrow, and run through a few favourites. String ensemble, solo violin, trombone, harp... I'll test out a few, then post the results here in the same fashion. I'll try source vibrato, but no guarantee that I can, as yet, master that. We'll see... Remember, this is purely monophonic, so any chordal work (counter-point, fugues...) will have to be done one instrument at a time. If I get inspired, I'll try a compo of the sort, to see if I can get it to 'gel'. Any other requests, while I'm here..? Vangelis, did I hear, there at the back..? Gerroff..! You're just takin' the Mickey..!
Sorry, I did mean useful for my son, or me, even - And yes, played/triggered on Guitar rather than Bass. It's the vib and possibly volume pedal expression, that I might be interested in.
  22.
Just a noodle; here's a Soundcloud of the interface, received about an hour ago. Straight out of the (tiny...) box, plug'n'play into Reaper, using my guitar (Xaviere XV600...), playing a Vst Alpine English horn; one take... Sonuus 1 Noodle ... Does it work..? Yes, for what I want it to do. I'll do a bass one later, once I've sussed it out a bit more.
Sounds like it could be useful. Could you do me a favour, Douglas, and trigger some Orchestral samples? Strings, Brass and Woodwinds would be good. Just wondering how light vibrato would work. I presume that the expression on The English Horn was baked into the sample? or maybe not?
  23. Going to give it a run out in the morning, not really sure what the sound library is all about.
  24. For a short time, Chroma RMX library free - four gigs. Just a case of giving them your email before checkout. https://insessionaudio.com/products/chroma/
  25. Through my 'phones, I like mix two better... A little more air on the whole mix as well..... But, I have 59 year old ears, so best not to listen to my ramblings. Plus I have been working through the early hours with someone and I am all coffee headed.
