1. I'll make it if i can. I might even check the intonation before coming this time!
2. Game here! What's to organise really? A date and booking a room. Fiveways was OK (i've been in worse pubs, but not many). I'd be ok there again unless anyone has a bright idea?
3.
Don't fancy adding a nice Fretless 6 to partner with your lovely Ritter?
Whilst we seem to share much in taste with gear, my wallet seems a little tougher to prise open! Doesn't mean i haven't got serious GAS for the your old Roscoe, and it's well priced, but other things demand my hard earned i'm afraid. I hope this one plays as well though! It looks dreamy!
4. That's some burr maple! Very nice. A bit flasher than the old Roscoe! I like the diamondwood fretboard option too. What colour are you lining the frets?
5. Basswood is an American term for lime. Lime is often the carvers choice as it's light and cuts easily, so hand carving should be a doddle.
6. Oi don't sell it until i've had a play!
7. Got a nicely packaged bridge the day after payment. Spot on!
8.
1) Ibanez original Bass Guitar bridge for 4-string bass £12 (incl.) 2) Bass Guitar bridge (black) for 6-string bass. Quality [part (removed from a high end instrument when replaced with another unit). I'll add details (size/specs. asap) £38 (incl.) 3) Fender style trad. Bridge (4) - works fine; one grub-screw changed (black). £10 (incl.)
pm sent
9. Bump for a great model of compressor, if you know how to use one! Doesn't have a compressor button!
10. voxpop - Thanks for the offer, but not really what i'm after ta. Good luck with the sale though! MOSCOWBASS - Thanks that's an interesting comparison. I've heard a Midget and liked it a lot, but not used it with my gear. I should be trying a Wizzy soon though, so i'll see how it sounds.....
11. Thanks for the help folks! I may end up buying yet, as i know it'll be tough as a first build, but i'd like to look into it further. The Orange cab i think may be a bit coloured for me, but the specs are good. Eminence Kappalite sounds worth investigating, as i think i'll have a tweeter too. And thanks for the tip on ply, but i'm going to investigate a couple of creative alternative for weight i think.....
12. I'm looking for a cab with a 10 or 12", with good clarity, capable of around 400w, weighing 10kg or under, and the size of a handbag! It'd be a lone cab with my AI Clarus, so would need some decent bass response too, but not much on the way of colour. I'm checking out the Barefaced Midget, EA Wizzy 10, Epifani UL110, and Schroeder mini 10+ at the moment. Any thoughts or other suggestions please? A big downside is each of these are fairly pricey. It struck me that one way round this would be to self build and have a play around. This also appeals as i could make something unique. I'm having trouble sourcing drivers however. Which drivers do the above use, or are they all 'in-house' custom jobs? Any suggestions for drivers or suppliers please? I only seem to able to find Celestion BN10 NEO and Eminence Basslites, both of which seem a bit underpowered and advertise colouration of sound as a 'feature'. Thanks in advance for any ideas....
13. Always interested as to what he's doing, but as mentioned not all to my taste! I like his new 'band' though. Hoping they'll tour this year....
14. Thanks for the input guys! I've always wondered how and why people did this! I like the idea of a semi fixed bridge, maybe string pressure and some coating on the underside to stop it slipping, but moveable if needs be for tweaking or string changes etc. Off to the lab to experiment now i think!
15. Sorry if this is a dozy newb question, but i'm considering a fixed bridge for my first full build, largely for aesthetics and cost. But how you you get the intonation right? Is there room for adjustment, or extra precise measuring or what?
16. Very nice geezer! Gold's not normally my bag, but that combo actually looks ace. And very interested about the neck finish....
17. It's been daylight for a good couple of hours! A trip to Robbie sounds like it may be fun. I'll have to check and i'll pm when i know if that's cool... So how does it play?!
18. About the tenth time i've checked this thread today! I didn't realise you were doing the trip on the train! That must be a grueler! If in future you have to cross half the length of the country to collect a beautiful custom 6 string drop me a line for a lift!
