  1. I was going to suggest Jethro Tull but unsure if he plays recorder?
  2. Ride the Lighting- Metallica
  3. So what's the bass line in ...and Justice for All album? Did Lars have it muted to an inaudible level because Jason would have dominated the low end with his incredible bass playing or was Lars still mourning Cliff.
  4. I think my lawn mower has a sticker on it it's 95 dB, I better check. On the serious note, whenever I go to a gig I take earplugs especially arena or stadium gigs. Surely it's easy to trip the meter if a playing band has punters in the background then add all other sounds such as general talking, serving drink, door slamming and walking etc. That dB meter will not give accurate reading unless you play in a totally sound proved chamber. The venue probably doesn't care and they don't even have a clue how dB works and sound waves travel etc. Have you considered showing them some scientific research on dB to prove your point?
  5. I have previously struggled to choose a picture so a quick Lego build shoved between house plants and a snap will do I thought. There is a panda, monkey and a turtle with a parrot in the background. So the choice is yours. Many, many interpretations. Happy composing.
  6. Thanks chums, I'll get a pic over sometime today.
  7. 1990 playing a Jolana Bass at age 16. I sold it a year later to buy a Rick copy which I mutated. I'd like to get this one back
  8. Is this still available?
  9. In this month challenge I decided to experiment with Ableton live. I tried to produce some electronic song for change, so enjoy All instruments played on Novation Launchkey VST used- Syntronik, SampleTank 4, Mod Bass, TyrellN6 Voice recorded via SM58 then processed via Ableton effects. Plenty of automation Mixed and mastered with Ableton and TR5 through speakers and headphones Lyrics: Black dot.....white stripes Black hole...white stars Last hope...bright light at the end of the tunnel it`s so bright.....
  10. Any good for metal? Seriously , just wipe a slice of dry toast through them.
  11. I always found listening to this album that guitars tortured the speakers. Although I'd listen to in on tapes back in days, I own the CD version and it's no different. After Reload I didn't bother listening to any new Metallica release. For me it's the first 3 albums then black album. And for the sake of the discussion, Jason was the best bass player in Metallica followed by Cliff.
  12. I worked hard all my life and I reached the stage in my life when I can afford and buy things I need, not things I want. Regardles, I'm being reasonable. Although I'd like or want a particular bass, but don't need it as other basses can do the same thing.
  13. I thought Dave Murray grew up in Clapton, but looking up in Google he was born in Edmonton and his family moved around London.
  14. Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath Or You Suffer by Napalm Death, the song is only 3 seconds long
  15. I've build two more bass traps today and mounted them to the walls. Roast dinner, rubbish TV, copious amount of Ale and some Jura whiskey. now watching Jools Holland not a big deal..
  16. Is that you Jason?
  17. Been watching Chic on BBC Four ( yeah I know it's not metal), closing down with Good Times.
  18. Suggestion- it is likely that we have a winner and there are unlikely to be enough voters to beat 9. Can this month challenge be finalised early, so we can get on with next month challenge before we return to busy lives in New Year. Only a suggestion...
  19. I voted after a couple of goes. My decision was based on the following. Song one - how I currently feel Song two- hilarious Song three- genuinity
  20. Yeah agree with Mustaines vocal and face pulling, but David deserves a top ten metal bass players. I forgot to mention Frank Bello, so understated. Was a big fan in late 80s, early 90s. Can't wait to see Anthrax in October. I can't believe I never saw the original line up with Dan. I remember the Mettalica gig in 91, Jason was just full in 110% performance.
  21. For metal fans I'd recommend Dave Ellefson Also Jason Newsted bass playing, shame some Richard interfered in mixing in Justice for all album
  22. Didn't someone on BC suggested nose grease on strings?
  23. My favourite is to just blow the dust off. And if it gets really bad , switch cleaner to make switches working. When push comes to shove Microcloth and lemon tree oil for rosewood fret board.
