Country music is, on the whole, very fine, IMO. Like the old stuff, like the new stuff, like country-rock, like alt-country. 15 years ago, I'd have killed myself for thinking that; but you grow up, and your tastes get broader rather than narrower. Same as I find something to enjoy in blues, metal, reggae, dance, classical ad inf. Now, when it comes to hardcore British country music 'buffs', as they like to call themselves, that's a different story. Detest anything after Slim Whitman, build shrines to Boxcar Willie and drive around in rusty old Yank Barges with Confederate flag stickers. Weasel-featured, long greasy hair, tattoos, scars, ratty little moustaches, prosthetic limbs. And you should see their husbands.

Always used to use bass boomers, then shifted to elixirs. Boomers always sounded great for a couple of sessions, then dead real fast. But YMMV.

Good news - the BRMC song is a piece of cake.

Get yer ass on the free transport , shoot over here and spend your lovely Euros with someone off this site, or at the bass thingy place in Camden or, worst case scenario, up Denmark St. With that sort of budget, you can get two (non-custom) basses and a nice rig. Take in a show while you're at it - we need the money.

Looks pretty, but the 'profesionally refinished' (nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) top and binding thing is going to knock some quids off.

FWIW, any time I see the word 'best' (not just here - anywhere), I take it as read that someone's expressing an opinion. Even if they don't know they are. Saves a whole world of pain, IMO.
