  1. The OBP-3 is a preamp made by Aguilar, not a pickup. 😉
  2. There still is the Lightwave optical solution with also close to zero latency, now belonging to Willcox: https://www.willcoxguitars.com/product-category/hexfx-editions/ I owned one of the very first generation (with its lot of luthiery issues) and it was working really well with absolutely no audible latency even down to a low B. The perfect fine-tuning of the system is easy to achieve, but not for everyone...
  3. And, by the way, positions 2 and 4 are not out of phase, but due to the distance between the pickups some mid to high mid frequencies get cancelled (because of phase opposition indeed), hence the scooped tone ... exactly like on a Les Paul. If these positions 2 and 4 were really out of phase, there would be close to no sound at all, you know that very thin sound you sometimes hear when 2 pickups are ... out of phase. 😉
  4. Nope, it's the Jazz Bass. 😉 The Precision Bass is just a Telecaster Guitar, an Esquire Guitar if you want to be precise and picky, with less strings and longer scale...
  5. Lightyears better than the CTS, which are absolutely not good pots: remember that Leo Fender was a genius for sure, but also cheapskate, so everything he used was simply what was the cheapest, including those CTS pots and, just to name one other, Jensen speakers. It's amazing how people can be manipulated to believe false things and refuse real facts.
  6. Why not a complete bass in alabaster? http://www.alabastrosonoro.com/elbass.html I tried one when I was in Volterra many moons ago and apart from the (not so heavy) weight, the sound wasn't bad at all. That said I owned a Nexus sixer fretless @LeftyJ : excellent bass for sure.
  7. There was a cheaper and better alternative... And complete too. https://www.bassparts.de/epages/61038859.mobile/en_GB/?ViewObjectID=132137656
  8. Interesting reading about it here: https://newatlas.com/music/stratocaster-70-fender-factory/ All of this just attests that even if Leo wasn't a musician, he was a true innovator and musician's listener, if not a true genius.
  9. Many bassists of Magma, the French fusion band, have been using the cello tuning. Jannick TOP (from 1973 to 1974 and in 1976) started using this tuning in the 70's, because he was a classical cello player and because of the power it was delivering (through a full tube SVT 300 with the mandatory 8x10 cab...). He is using this gauges: C = 0.135, G = 0.095, D = 0.065 and A = 0.045. Philippe BUSSONNET (from 1996 to 2019) is using some slightly lighter gauges: C = 0.130, G = 0.090, D = 0.060 and A = 0.040. Worth listening to Magma and calling @Dad3353... 😉
  10. This is not a Japanese model, so it's really worth the asking price not much higher...
  11. I always buy before I try.
  12. Like on most of Leduc basses and it's a quite clever place for having the bass in the perfect playing position as you can pass the strap on the front to have it in belly position or on the back to have it in skinny position...
  13. Is 7 times enough to be sure @BassAdder60... ? 🤣
  14. They do. Note for oneself: Too is better. Is it the same kind of difference unplugged as well as plugged?
  15. Then there is the Billy Sheehan way...
  16. And don't forget to remove entirely the bullet/nut/adjuster and put some graphite grease over the thread, this will help a lot. Some flat washers may help recover some screwing manoeuvre: it's a very old and effective trick.
  17. A 10 days old video by Roger Sadowsky to start again the debate as it's been a while... And most of the protagonists are certainly really deaf by now. 🫣🤣🤘
  18. You must be thirsty by now...
  19. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Litorange-Grolsch-Gaskets-Silicone-Seals/dp/B0854BSBSR/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa
  20. But it's not for now...
  21. 🤦🫣🤣🤣🤣🤣 The Heartfield line was made by Fuji Gen Gakki in Japan from 1989 to 1994 to produce the Fender niche models designed in the USA or Japan and some guitars or basses even wear the Heartfield by Fender logo à la Squier. So, true Fender? It's up to you!
