1. Try musicground in Manchester or Leeds... they had some on display the last time I was in there about 3 or 4 weeks ago
  2. ALDI £2.50 a roll at the moment black/silver/white good enough for cables and stuff I got lots while I was there
  3.
>but my stinger's only got one pickup hi .. thx for replying .. actually if you get the time, the distance to the bridge pickup would be cool (leading edge to the nut).. i think i'm only going to put the bridge pickup on anyway.. what with emg's being the best part of ninety quid :-/
752mm from inside edge of nut to closest side of pickup HTH
  4.
Post 145 now updated! Apologies to all....
STICKER Put me on the confirmed list too please Also I would like to donate a Digitech Bass Squeeze to the raffle prizes... Used but boxed and in excellent condition, hell... I'll even stick a new battery in it for the lucky winner lol
  5.
My first ever BC post was a bit of a disaster (see above). Wish my fingers were always that fast... Another Yorks based bass - Selby area, although really a southern softie. Will be prowling the gear for sale threads as I am promised a dream bass for my 50th - I've got a year to choose it!
I work in the shadow of the Drax cooling towers lol
  6.
It's GREAT that so many are crossing the pennines to come to Harrogate on the 15th, but I can't help thinking there's enough of you Manchester folk to warrant organising yourself a Manc Bash!!!!!!
They are only coming because we have a better class of sheep this side of t'hills
  7. I have recently gone from Warwick Corvette 5 to Stingray 5 and to be honest I am amazed how much more tonal variation there is and also how much more playable the instrument is. Add to this that the first gig with it last week the sound man nearly kissed my feet because he says it was so much easier to mix into the band sound. I can say without any reservations that this Ray 5 is a masive step up for me [1] PS Just loaded it with Status hotwires 40's as per OutToPlayJazz's recommendation and the sound is even better [2] Also add.. mine is black single H with rosewood FB [1] I'm a relative noob to bass, so my opinions might stand for jack sh*te lol [2] I think someone better pass me a tissue
  8. He bought my Warwick Corvette... What a sound guy to deal with, knows his stuff and no BS. And a really cool collection of basses

  13.
Is this the passive version? That's an absolute bargain regardless. If i thought I could get the same sound out of this that I could out of my $$ then I'd be having it. I don't really get along with the exposed poles on the pickups. I prefer them either flush or covered.
No it's the active version on a push/pull on the volume. So you can play it active or passive I have priced it to hopefully sell it not to wait for weeks then start dropping the price. Someone take it off my hands before I get all sentimental and decide to keep it
  14. 1997 Warwick Corvette Standard 5 string in fantastic condition, waxed every few weeks and well looked after, plays fantastic but I can't warrant having this and the stingray... I was thinking around 350 for the bass or 400 with the warwick flightcase. Would anyone be interested?
  15.
Another one to try is partysounds.co.uk I know they have listings of bands looking for bass players in that area
I found my band through partysounds... I put a "Bass player available" ad up and got over a dozen replies inside 2 weeks
  16. Welcome mate... Another bass player from God's own county
  17.
It's like asking for people to tell you what their favourite food is. You'll get almost as many answers as there are replies. In these times of financial hardship go for Elixirs, they'll last you till the next recession.
I know I'm bound to get lots of different replies, but it came with elites on and to me it looks like it needs a shorter low B because the full width of the string is on to the post. Do ernie ball strings fit better?
  18. Come on all you Stingray officianados what in your opinion are the best strings? I want to stay fairly light gauge
  19.
Congratulations on the birth of your spanky new forum.
Do we need to wet the baby's ped?

    Mark Bass

I've got the 1x15 Jeff Berlin sig combo purely because it didnt have the tweeter in it. Had it for 2 years now no problems, only this week added a Traveller 151p 15" extension cab because of a large gig we were doing and boy did it hold it's own. Didnt bother going through the PA and ran on half gain and just over half master volume and I'm sure I was holding it back with the gain on the wireless too. Buckets of headroom, uncoloured tone, carry in one hand. Just to add... Most of the bass players (read: more knowledgable than me) that have heard my setup think it has a warm tone - go figure-
  21. Smashing bloke, 100% A proper gent.

  23.
Wasn't it Mark Gooday who used to drive a black Sierra Cosworth with a Trace Elliot badge on it around Chelmsford back in the day ?
I suppose it's one way to promote the V6
  24.
In no way does that rig look 'basic'. Quite the opposite in fact; it looks great...
Why thank you kind sir... but at the side of some I've seen it looks like a bedroom practice setup
  25. I used the AKG bug I got from PMT at the gig last night, flawless performance all night with no drop outs or background noise once I put the receiver on my pedal board instead of sitting it on top of the amp, it's fantastic not having to look down before you move to make sure you aren't going to unplug yourself lol or go barreling arse over tit
