1. Plenty of great and varied bands on at this free festival in Saltaire, West Yorkshire. There's also plenty of street entertainment and a continental market. For more information see: http://www.saltairefestival.co.uk/
 2. A throb. Edited to add: Or a groove.
 3.
Any way the rest of the band could do it between you?? Have a practise and try it out , considering that practise is the worst it'll ever be. It's a thought.
+1
 4. That's it, I'm off to cash converters this lunchtime.
 5.
looks like a decent enough bass in the pics so worth following up...IMO Zero feedback is the thing...so I'd want a face to face to make sure all is well.... Might look better with a white plate, as the black doesn't really work.. I would prefer 3 band EQ rather than 2, personally, altho some mids can be unusable..
I changed mine from a black plate to a white one and I reckon it looks great: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=505243 Got mine from ebay for £695 I think, it's a '96.
 6. I don't think the scissor sisters have one.
 7. I was in a field in North Yorkshire so I'm out.
 8.

Hercules Rockefeller
Rembrandt Q. Einstein
Handsome B. Wonderful
Or have I got the wrong name generator?
 9. The blue Jazz. I love sonic blue. If you happen to have a tort scratchplate knocking about I'd be tempted to stick that on for the video. Edited to add: I just noticed your black Jazz has a tort scratchplate! Mix and match.
 10.
Surely you do a cover of Rebel Yell by Billy Idol? One of my fave songs when I was in my earlyish teens.
Not my band I'm afraid, just some folks I've seen around.
 11.
Billy Idol tribute band?
Rockabilly / Psychobilly / Punk originals stuff.
 12.
Has anyone used an upright bass in a punk band?
In addition to what has been previously posted, I give you Rebel Yell (http://www.myspace.com/rockrebelyell):
and this is perhaps as much to do with the fact we have been together for a few years now and would struggle with anyone new, as it is to do with you.
If I were you, I'd ask them to clarify this point, preferably over the phone (show them the way it should be done), then I'd put it behind you and move on.
 16.
Hey, give him a break! He wasn't a bassist yet ...
From wikipedia: "...Prior to the end of the residency, Sutcliffe left the band, so McCartney, reluctantly*, became The Beatles' bass player". *Emphasis added by me A reluctant bassist eh? Never did like that McCartney none.
 17.
Smart casual works ... ... but the drummer got it wrong. Again.
The bassist forgot he was a bassist too! Looks like he's going to kill someone.

 19.
Indeed! Hopefully someone will have a space! Thanks again, Ed
You could try posting this in the Off Topic or General Bass Forums, they get more traffic.
 20. For our on stage vocal* monitoring we use a carlsbro powerline 300 power amp. Can anyone recommend any good monitor wedges to go with this? For info: Our FOH is a Yamaha Stagepas 500, we use Shure S55h mics and a Studiomaster 142 desk. Any advice gratefully received. *edited to add this word.
 21.
Shame but the better covers bands will be booking well into next year by now - it does show that we've not recommended dross though! Jon
+1
 22.
Hey, It's my brother's 21st Birthday on the 8th of August and we are looking for a covers band. I am looking for a band that plays mainly rock covers, has an edge, whether it be an image or style. Most of the audience will be around 18 - 25 years old. The band we wanted (http://www.mullit.co.uk/) were busy and couldn't do it. They played stuff from Rage Against the Machine, Green Day, Kaiser Chiefs, Video Killed the Radio Star (can't remember the artist!) and some older classics. They were all lively, young and a bit eccentric, and have spent the last 7 years gigging every night in a ski resort so they are good! We are basically looking for something similar. Something really special that will get peoples attention and have a great stage presence, and have enough chops to impress the metal heads around! I'm open to all options though. I saw a band in LA called the Spazmatics (http://www.myspace.com/thespazmatics) who were the funniest guys on stage. So anyone with a difference is good! Me and my brother play for a band called Elliot Minor (www.myspace.com/elliotminor) so we can help with backline, PA and staging if necessary. Thanks, Ed
Try Dr Coxx http://www.myspace.com/drcoxxuk
 23.
I was looking at the back of my P5 last night and noticed, in the right (or wrong) light i see lots of little scratches. Noting major and only in the finish. Im normally careful with my Basses but we do have to wear shirts at a lot of our gigs, and tucked in so exposing the belt buckle. I just wondered what others do in this situation. I dont have any sharp corners on my buckle but of course the bass is still rubbing against metal.
Braces?

 25.
I'm all in favour of working out what visual image will best support the music. But I always wriggle when someone talks about "Uniforms": Sven the psycho guitarist at far left
I think you've just solved the OP's problem!
