1. That's a big bang for not many bucks - GLWTS
2.
Have to confess, I've not read this entire thread, but does anyone here know where in Poland Maruszcyk are based? I'm going to Krakow and wondering if there's any chance of getting to try some basses.
The factory is in Poland but Adrian M himself and his trading company Public Peace are based in Aldenhoven, Germany (that's why the factory address doesn't figure on anybody's radar). My understanding is that he was planning to either move his demo facility to the factory or build another, main demo suite there this year. In any event, you'd be better contacting the man himself at "][email protected]
3. I've heard their lead guitarist plays a Fender Strad
4. I was a Volvo man myself - complete with pipe, slippers, black lab, and Trace Elliot rig
5. So, I went for it - and I absolutely love it! Just received this morning a mint and boxed example from 'starless', who replied to my 'wanted' ad on the forum. Thanks to all who aided and abetted me with my latest GAS raid. (Tried Gilly's TH500 first btw).
6. Thanks mate - e-mail sent.
7. Just got a Magellan 800 from Graeme. Arrived mint and boxed - how good is that?! Everything went as smoothly as you could possibly wish for, so no hesitation in echoing the other positive comments about this top Basschat-ter. Oh, and I absolutely love the amp btw. Mike
8. Bump time for this lovely lump (2 lumps to be precise) of Brit-amp heritage.
9.
I know there are a few helpful shortscale threads on BC - worth a look through. However, to answer directly here, I simply find shortscales easier to use (reduced tension, increased compliance), usually lighter, ergonomically efficient (less stretching for arms and fingers), and the tone lacks nothing - at least with a decently built instrument. I find that shorties are fun - quick and light - easy to pick-up and wander around with
+1
10. Hey Scott! That doesn't look like a short-scale to me
11. The MK link is a bit tenuous! This bass was never owned or played by him but the owner allegedly knew JD and MK personally - which does make it expensive IMHO.
12. Thanks for info Hellzero and M@23.
13. +1 for Bass Soul Food
14.
Used this last night, having not gigged it for about a month. Didn't even engage the EQ, it was wonderful. Bump
The Glockenklang amps are fascinating but a bit of a mystery to me - and maybe other potential buyers on the forum. Do you know, are there any essential differences (e.g. in core tone) between their 'Blue Sky', 'Blue Soul' and 'Heart Rick' (IIRC) amps?
15.
I played this bass a couple of days ago and it is the easiest bass I have played since trying out a mate's Alembic Stanley Clarke a while back. There are two contrasting Scott Whitley vids that show how versatile these basses are. I hope you don't mind me hijacking your thread Mike?! 17. That is an absolute beauty! If I had some money spare to invest, I would invest it in this.
18. I had a play on one of these in my local shop a while back - DEEPLY impressed by the quality, play-ability, tonal range - and just the overall presence of this bass!! If I hadn't gone the s-s/lightweight route, I'd have this in a heartbeat. Also, knowing the seller, I know this will be dead right. GLWTS
19.
A sack barrow isn't much use for stacking them though. I think my V8 was only a couple short of 30kg and it sat about four and half foot off the ground.
That calls for some personal 'heft' (and a safety net).
20.
PM sent
And replied.
21. Post script: I sold the AH500X for a nice profit and have been gigging my beloved 300 replacement ever since. (It's only worth a single hernia compared to the full double its predecessor was capable of.)
