1. And here's another s-s bargain: "]http://[IMG]http://i1149.photobucket.com/albums/o598/scrumpymike/003_zpsd4rfyoav.jpg Better positioning/balance on the strap than the stock SWB-1 too (I've modded mine)! 2. Just a few words of encouragement to anyone interested in SWB-1 basses and this one in particular: mine is now my main gigging bass thanks to its great quality, sounds and compact, light-weight design; the weakness of the pound following the Brexit vote means that prices for imports will go up - including bass guitars bought in USD from China. In other words, now could be a good time to buy this one and bag a bargain! In fact, if my Fender Rascal sells, I'll be very tempted to add this active mahogany bass to my passive ash one.
3. Not very original or the pinnacle of absolute excellence but definitely the bassists that influenced me in my formative years, namely: Jamerson Macca Bill Wyman Andy Fraser Jack Bruce And the five that I feel really bad at leaving out are Chas Chandler, Chris Squire, Pino, Phil Lynott and Nick Seymour.
4.
Truth and Beck Ola, real rock and roll! Blue
They certainly are that! I like the way that he's always just got on and done his own thing. In his later years, he seems to have developed the happy knack of surrounding himself with hugely talented female musicians (lucky bugger).
5. Thanks for that Pinball - always rated him highly but hadn't heard anything from Loud Hailer. My vinyl copy of Truth (Jeff Beck Band with Rod Stewart on vocals) still gets a regular play.
6.
Good call on the Pitch Black - best tuner I have had, tiny current draw when not in use, and true bypass (to which it also defaults when the power goes down).
Wasn't sure following multiple recommendations on this forum for Boss and TC, so pleased to get your feedback. Must say that I was impressed with it anyway after unpacking it (looks/feels bomb-proof) and first gig.
7.
It lets you have one less link in your signal chain, and if the tuner output is buffered and always on, will allow you to keep the tuner on permanently whilst you play. Which might be useful for long sustained notes on fretless!
Thanks for that Danny.
8. Me too! Certainly not a make I'd buy based on their current s-s offering.
9. OK, so we're two-thirds of the way there - darn useful these things! "]http:// Just reading stuff on volume pedals and I see some of them have a dedicated socket for a tuner - what's the difference between using that and just having everything daisy-chained in series?
10.
Wish i'd the cash for this...
If you're playing the lottery this week I'll have my fingers crossed for you!
11. Come on guys - I see Scott's sold his!
12. Thanks guys - looks like a TU-3 and Pedaltrain Nano with rechargeable power supply! The Zoom looks brilliant but way too complicated for me.
13. OK, so I've finally succumbed to 'pedal envy' and decided it's time to drag my ass into the 21st century (or even 20th??). Nothing extravagant mind - I've just bought the Bass Soul Food overdrive from Electro Harmonix, to which I plan to add a chromatic tuner and volume pedal. Questions: The Boss TU-3 seems to be a good bet but it looks expensive at only tenner below the Soul Food price - if all I want is a basic tuner, am I paying for stuff I don't need? Then, can anybody recommend a good volume pedal? And finally I'll need a small board/case to suit - maybe with enough room for future expansion. (From zero to a 4 pedals? Surely not!). Cheers guys.
14. That's beautiful and re-awakens the adolescent desires I had for semi-acoustic basses (especially Rivolis) back in the '60s.
15. OK, £50 price drop to £545. You guys don't know what you're missing - as Scott Whitley says in the demo vid I've linked above, this is the best 'off the peg' s-s bass out there. If it weren't for my shoulder injury, it's the last thing I'd be selling!
16. I was so impressed with my fretted SWB-1 that I bought this ash-bodied passive with flight case from Scott in Spring for a one-off fretless project. Offered in totally as-new condition, this lovely bass is an easy player thanks to its compact, light-weight design, 30.75" scale length, slim neck and flat-wound strings. Buy new today and you'll be paying £508! That's real value for money, so my price must be a bargain. "]http:// "]http:// My asking price is collected but I can arrange delivery at cost.
17. Thanks for that lojo - interesting indeed and I enjoyed looking thru all the rest on their website.
