1.
I wish i could afford this, it's just so nice! Best of luck with the sale, hope it goes to a good home
thanks! I'm adding to the trade list too (+/- cash etc): A decent acoustic guitar. A Fender US Strat Ibanez Gary Willis fretless (any model) or feel free to make other suggestion...
  2. EDIT: resurrecting this thread from the dead... I've a couple of these strapps in the same size, so I'm selling one of them, as I've just replaced it with a longer version. My measurement give a length range of 37" to 42.5" which doesn't quite tally with the specs on their site, but it does fall approximately into the "long" category. I guess they stretch a little when theres a 10lb hunk of wood attached to either end. http://www.comfortstrapp.com/products.htm Otherwise £15 posted ok? (p.s. both the straps I have show pretty exactly the same amount of wear, so I don't think it makes any difference as to which one you will get i.e. they are showing some normal signs of wear, but are is a good condition - used not abused). EDIT: I'm now sorted for a mono strap, so just looking for a straight sale on this.
  3.
Really nice to see such detail in the for sale thread.. That's a very classy looking bass Gwil, and the U-Retro makes it look even better IMO. Good luck with the sale...
hi Nik, thanks It certainly is a lovely bass looks wise and sound wise (esp with the new addition of the U-Retro). I've already got 6 basses including this one, and plenty of GAS, so something has to give, if I'm to allow myself another bass. Luckily, 2 of the basses I was aiming at have sold, so theres not a great rush now. cheers Gwil p.s. bump! p.p.s I know I said no trades, but i would certainly consider trades (+cash either way where appropriate) on any of the following: MTD 535's fretted or fretless, F Bass BNF5, an NS CRM5, Celinder J5, Atelier Z, Ken Smith 5 Marin Mount Vision 2008, Specialized Stumpjumper Expert 2008 Nikon D200/D300 digital SLR
  4. awesome - nicest vintage Fender I've seen (possibly)
  5. Medium set of Elixir Nanoweb Strings to trade for another 5 string set. 1 x 4 string set 45, 65, 85, 105 1 x B string 130 taperwound These might not be appropriate for 35" scale (they are not the XL set) - although I have used them on 35" they are very slighly too small. Nothing wrong with these strings but I've realised I prefer a narrower gauge and/or nickel strings. My preference gauge wise would be: 40, 60, 80, 100, 125 Looking for: La Bella Slappers La Bella Supersteps DR Fatbeams DR Sunbeams What have ya got?! ps. - will sell these for £30 all in, if anyone wants to buy them. That looks like about 8 or 9 quid cheaper than new.
  6.
Done! I'll send you my details etc. How about i just send you a kebab and a can through the post? Salad and sauce on your kebab?
Sorted! LOL It has to be a very special kebab - like from here, my local kebab shop http://www.london-eating.co.uk/4694.htm - well, Turkish Restraunt actually. Awesome stuff
  7.
haha bollocks, i wanted to use that with vista too
yeah it's a bugger
  8.
What sort of price were you looking at? I'm interested but have no clue as to what to offer Need a USB interface for my laptop as i have really bad latency problems using the onboard sound
hey lemmywinks - ok, how about £20 posted, and paypal on me. I just wanted some kebab and beer money
  9. hello chaps I have a M-Audio 4in/4out audio/MIDI USB interface "for sale". These are discontinued as far as I'm aware. I think all the detail you could want is here in the manual at the M-Audio web-site. http://www.m-audio.com/images/global/manua...Plat_Manual.pdf I bought this 2 or 3 years ago from Birdy if I'm not mistaken. My memory ain't so good these days Anyhow - the reason I'm getting rid of it is that my old laptop (XP) was nicked (all backed up though! phew!), and my new laptop (which is Vista) is not supported by the drivers as far as I can tell. Compatible with XP, 2000, ME and 98SE and Mac OS as 10 and 9 too by the looks of it. All drivers can be downloaded from M-Audio's site. It took me sometime to get this up and running on my old machine - I had to download update drivers etc etc from the M-Audio support site, and it was a bit of a pain. So I'd recommend that you are a little bit savvy which it comes to IT/computers In fact I'd not recommend using the installation disks it comes with, just get the latest online driver installation exes - which as I recall is what sorted it all out for me (on XP at least). So, make me a reasonable offer, and I'm unlikely to refuse. If you want to hear what it sounds like, you can listen to the sound clips attached to my Sei Jazz sale thread. They were recorded direct via this unit into Audacity. It's all in the original box and driver installation disks with power supply, and in good condition, and working too - although I haven't used it for 6 to 8 months, maybe more. There you have it, could by a good "buy" for someone!
  10.
don't get me on to F Bass; I played one in the Gallery the other day and it was everything I don't want in an instrument; I haven't liked any of the others I've played either
wow, what didn't you like? and which F bass was it you tried? please forgive me if this is slightly off-topic
  11. pictures added showing the new U-Retro installed, also the following detail: "34" scale, 9lbs 5.5oz on my scales, 17mm string spacing at the bridge. Small hairline crack in the wood facing just above the controls, only visible close up, and is cosmetic rather than structural. ie, it does not go through to the control cavity." and loads of links to all the pictures I have of the bass. any questions etc, don't hesitate to ask. cheers G EDIT: sounds samples now also added - recorded when the bass still had passive electronics.
  12. I've had this up for sale before and decided to keep it, but GAS is a terrible thing. Here's the [topic="11018"]original sale thread[/topic] Since I had it on sale I've had it fitted with a U retro deluxe by Martin Petersen at The Gallery, and that is about 1 month old, it sounds like it did before, a warm woody tone, and the URetro adds a bit more beef, and a lot of tonal options. Controls now are: Volume/Pick-pan Bass/treble Mid/Mid-frequency sweep Vintage tone active/passive switch another switch that either enables the pickup-pan, or sets a passive equal mix of the pickups. Looking for £1100 ono, cash for this, as I've a number of specific basses I'm GAS-ing for at the moment EDIT: 34" scale, 9lbs 5.5oz on my scales, 17mm string spacing at the bridge. Small hairline crack in the wood facing just above the controls, only visible close up, and is cosmetic rather than structural. ie, there it does not go through to the control cavity. Pictures of the bass with the U-Retro installed: Here's some old pics of the bass (pre the new pre-amp) - I'll get some more up to date ones up here tomorrow evening. The bass comes in a tatty old gig bag, so I'd rather not post. I'd rather sell to someone who can try before they buy anyway. If anyone wants to view/play the bass, you're very welcome. I'm based in west London near Hammersmith. cheers G Here are the sound samples that I recorded direct from the bass into an audio interface when it was still passive: Here are links to all the pictures: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN2251.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN2252.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN1664.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN1663.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN1662.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN1661.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN1660.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN1659.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN1658.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN1657.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN1656.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN1655.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN1654.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN1653.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN1652.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN1651.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN1650.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN1649.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN1648.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN1647.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN1646.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN1645.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN1644.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v722/Gwi...ei/DSCN1643.jpg

  17.
Tried a few Sandbergs whilst I was out buying strings yesterday and I was well impressed. I tried a PM4 in droolsome white and a PM5 in sunburst. They both needed a set up but both sounded fantastic - nice build quality too and I mucho preferred 'em to the Musicmen (?) and Warwicks I also had a dabble on. What's the general concensus on Sandbergs? I have to admit I came away with some GAS fellas.
hi Alan I've had this for some years now - one of the best fretless basses I've played. A very woody and warm tone. The only fretless I've played that has given me GAS for another is the purple F BN5 at the Gallery, but the tone on that is quite different. For me, it's a "keeper". Live, I played it in a indie-rock three piece, and it really filled out the sound. It was a special moment that I recall with great fondness Anyway, all the Sandbergs I've played are great basses, although I've only played one of the fretted variety - a Ken Taylor 5 string model at the Bass Centre. It was a tone monster, and IMHO was vastly better sounding/playing than the Lakland 55-02 that I played immediately before it. There was some debate a couple of years back about whether they were slightly "over-priced" in the UK, given their relative cost on the continent. That may have changed now? Or maybe not, given the weakness of Sterling vs. the Euro. Cheers G
  18. bump, there has been some interest and I'm waiting to hear back from someone, but at the moment this is still available. not sure why this has been moved to the effects section either. Last time I looked this was a profesional bass preamp
  19.
Cannot wait for this gig! Bringing a few friends along too.
hi Syed, i'm going to this too - Reuben Wilson is awsome... I will look out for you cheers G
  20. forgot to say, no trades, cos I need the money for a new cab G
  21. more details here: http://www.ebs.bass.se/2007/microbass.htm now surplus to requirements and in very good condition. in original box, not sure if I have the manual, but it is available to download from the EBS website, and I also have a pdf copy I can email. £180 posted in the UK (incl paypal fees on me). i will get some pictures up when I have some time, but that may not be until next weekend. cheers G
  22. bump! Platypus very kindly let me go round his gaff today to check out this bass (and a lovely Spector too...). It was just as I as expected, very very nice indeed. The passive sound was great, and with the eq on it just sounded monsterous. Nicely balanced, not too heavy - I'm sure whoever picks this up will be very happy! I'm just happy that 6 strings is 1 too many for me, and that Platypus doesn't take credit cards
