  1. Thanks. Yes, definitely going to see if the Stomp works before moving forward. The two options I have without spending is try the Stomp, and take one of our own PA cabs, as I know they are better. Downside to that is playing in mono (I’m not going to take two), which is fine as I can use it like a combo. I think this is the best solution anyway, as it will also get me used to using them for our gigs in the future. It will still need EQ so I’ll still need to take the Stomp anyway, and I do want to know if I can fix the issue with the studio PA. When I started the thread I was adamant I wasn’t going to use the Stomp, but with its headphone amp and separate volume control I don’t think there is anything else that can touch it.
  2. Whatever the email notification takes me to.
  3. On a slightly different note, has anyone listened to/seen the iHeart Radio Music Festival 2020 recordings on YT? Obviously done in a closed studio, but some idiot has overdubbed a large crowd clapping and cheering over all the performances. Its like canned laughter, only more fake.
  4. Sorry, I meant the B1 I already have is mono, so I discounted that.
  5. Thanks. I have a Zoom B1-4 which I had thought about using, but again it’s not stereo. I think I’m going to stick with the Helix Stomp for now. It already has all I need (the ability to chain up to 8 EQ’s must surely be more than enough lol). Not sure how a DAW at home would help me fix an issue at a rehearsal room though. I’m tying to Eden out the PA system, which can only be done at the venue. What changed my mind about using the Stomp from when I started the thread is it also has a headphone amp built in. I’ve been trying to work out how I can use headphones with the Synth without using yet another box for monitoring at gigs. The Stomp sorts this out as well so it kills two birds with with one stone, and I already have it.
  6. I had thought about that something like that but I want to get something that will sit on my keyboard so I can make adjustments while playing. I know I can with the iPhone etc, but it’s overkill and needlessly complicated for what I’m after.
  7. Yeah, gone off that idea now. Still looking like ill end up with the EQ2.
  8. Yeah, I mentioned that I’m a previous post. Shame it’s mono. Not to bothered about dials and sliders as such, as long as the adjustments are easy to accomplish.
  9. Ignore those questions. All the other answers are in the very well written manual. Bugger, looks like I’m going to end up spending more money than i thought.
  10. Ok, i must confess the EQ2 has been playing on my mind tonight. It does seem perfect, although the price is a sticking point. Nothing i cant talk myself around though, especially if my Boss EQ-200 sellls. Peter. Can I ask you a few questions about this? 1. Can I change the LPF and HPF freq’s using just the pedal? I wont have a PC or Laptop to hand. If I not can i use the Neuro App on my iPhone to do this? It looks like i might need to set the outer bands up for this first, but thats fine, as long as i can change the freq’s on the fly. 2. I’m assuming each of the 10 bands can have its freq’s changed, but are the numbers below the sliders fixed? 3. Looks like the Q can be changes for each of the sliders when used as a Graphic. Is that correct? 4. What type of indication on the pedal is there, if any, that the Parametric mode is being used. It looks quite complicated, although nothing i cant get my head around, but all the YT demos ive seen seem to concentrate on using a computer. I want to mainly use as a stand alone product, so i can tweak things at rehearsals/gigs. Although my needs are basic i do want to have access to the main features liek Freq, Q and amount for all bands inc LPF and HPF. If it works with my iphone then thats good enough. Sorry, i know thats a lot of info I’m asking for. We cold take this to PM if its easier.
  11. I used to have the old TC Parametric pedal. Got it for the exact same reason IIR. God that was a long time ago. Thanks for the suggestions. If i went rack i might go for the Behringer DEQ2496. looks amazing for £230. Even has a freq analyser built in. Not really keen on a rack unit though. I still think the Mooer is in the lead. I can get two for just under £220. I’m going to use my Stomp to see if EQ can fix the issue first. Its looking more like I should just use that anyway.
  12. Hmm, the Mooer Radar looks like it might work, and its over £100 cheaper than the SA. Other than its mono it looks like it might do the trick.
  13. Ah right, just had another look. Ok, yes, it seems to do all i need, but its a silly price to pay considering i have the Helix, and just need it to flatten the PA out. That was the reason I went for the Boss over that. Shame, it does look good.
  14. Ive seen this, almost considered it before getting the much cheaper Boss, but isnt the SA a graphic?
  15. Should add, the Empress looks the closest, and I’m sure that would actually work fine but it’s missing the LPF.
  16. I’m on the lookout for something quite specific. I want a small box (as opposed to rack) 3 or 4 band Parametric EQ. Each band with Q adjustment. Also variable LPF. Not worried about the cut amount, but need to be able to change the Freq. Would prefer real knobs over software, but not a big deal as long as it was well laid out. Battery operated would be great. Stereo would be good, although I could get by with mono if i had to and the price was right. All that is covered in my Helix Stomp, long with the option to add loads of other stuff, but i don’t really want to use it unless i have to. It must have ALL the above features. Ive seen loads that have most, but these are the features i know i want so anything missing is not going to work and I’ll keep on using the Helix. It can have more, but not too much as i don’t need more, so wouldn't want to pay more than i have to. This is for use with a synth, so no need for boosts, amp sims, any other effects etc. Just plain EQ. Cheers.
  17. I got this in Aug this year from PMT. Thought it would be handy for using with my keyboard, but turns out its not really the right tool. Going to need a Parametric, which i just so happen to have in my Helix. Ive only used it for 3 hours, at a rehearsal, with it sitting on my synth. Comes with box, all paperwork, sticky feet etc. £150 firm, inc 1st class post in UK. Wont ship off mainland. Key features. Class-leading sound quality with 32-bit AD/DA, 32-bit floating point processing, and 96 kHz sampling rate Dual 10-band EQs that can be used in stereo, parallel, or series Insert function for processing external effects with pre and/or post tone shaping Three different range settings: 30 Hz to 12.8 kHz, 32 Hz to 16 kHz, and 28 Hz to 14 kHz 15 dB boost/cut on each band, plus overall level control for each channel Stereo link function for operating both EQ channels together Intuitive interface with hands-on sliders and graphic EQ display Real-time panel setting and four memories for storing favorite sounds Panel Lock function disables controls to prevent unwanted changes Two onboard footswitches with customizable assignments Support for expanded control via external footswitches, an expression pedal, or MIDI Full MIDI I/O provided with mini TRS jacks (BMIDI-5-35 adaptor cable available separately) Micro USB jack for firmware updates Runs on PSA-series AC adaptor or three AA-size batteries
  18. Maybe not quite on topic but a few years ago a mate brought a Dingwall and an old Ibanez Roadster bass to one of my gigs. I used the Dingwall for the first gig (very nice bass), and the Ibby for the next two gigs. The Ibby was an amazing bass to play, and sounded much better for me.
  19. I did it twice at rehearsals only. Not a board, by my Helix Stomp. Xvive between bass and Helix, Boss WL20 between Helix and amp. I did it that way around as the Boss has the lower latency. Reason for doing it?, because I could. Not much point as the Helix still needed to be powered, so not entirely cable free. It worked ok though, at least to my ears.
  20. Ok, we have a winner. I got the m50x today (in blue for faster delivery)and it’s pretty close to what i was looking for. The low end is a bit more pronounced than i would have hoped for, but overall the tone is more ‘there’. The mids especially are in the right place. The DT770’s might be flatter, but not quite as enjoyable for daily playing. My brass patches have now lost the harshness, and the pianos have a bit more body to them. They definitely sound bright with music, but in a good way, unlike the DT770’s. My brass patches sound more real and less synthetic. This is the sound im hoping to get live. I did try the DT770’s again last night, I wanted to try again and i did get used to the tone, but after 40mins my right temple was in pain. For the next 2 hours i used my Bose and they worked (and sounded ) fine. I think because i have quite small ears the DT770’s were a bit too wide and sitting on the wrong part of my head. The m50x’ seem to be a lot snugger, and very similar to the feel of my HD25’s, although obviously these are over ear. Actually i must have a small head, as the m50x are perfect without pulling the camps out at all. Only issue i have is a high pitched whine, only slightly audible when nothing is playing, when plugged in to my JBL 1 speaker’s headphone out. I guess these being very low ohms and quite bright its just picking up mains interference that i cant hear normally. Plugged in to my ipad or MODX they are dead silent, so i wont worry about this, its not a faulty pair hopefully. So, I’m happy i tried the m50x, they do have the best tone out of all my head/earphones at the moment. Hoping they might benefit from a bit of burn in over time, maybe be some a tiny bit more even, but if not I’m still keeping them.
  21. Cheers guys. Its got more confusing now as I remembered my Bose QC35’s can work with a wire. Ive been going back and forth between the two and really dont know what to think. I’m now actually happier with (maybe more used to) the DT770’s today, i think im over the shock of them sounding so different. I can now hear the thicker low end, and i like it. For keys i prefer them slightly more to the harsher, more synthetic Bose, mainly in the top end, but for music the Bose is better. I still feel the DT770’s lack mids a bit too much for me. They maybe flatter than the Bose, but for music the Bose wins. The sound stage is also narrower, which helps my keyboard blend in more with the music I’m playing along to. Also, as comfy as the DY700’s are, my ears are sweating a lot, with only 10-15mins of playing. IF i didnt have the options already I’d keep the DT770’s. I know i could live with them, but the Bose are more comfortable, and more useful at all other times. THe DT770’s will go back. The question then is do i just stick with the HD25’s or try again with the AT’s.
  22. Ive never used any AT headphones. To be honest i like the description some of the reviews are saying, about them being warmer, but the DT770’s still keep winning out. I’m going to give them a few days and see how it goes. For live use ill use my HD25s. I’m going this route over using a stage monitor as ill get a proper stereo signal (we don’t use IEM’s), plus i can still hear the band. I know the HD25’s are better suited as they punch through better, and i do treat them roughly when i use them out of the house and they can withstand most things. This means robustness and compactness isnt a concern for the home headphones at all.
  23. Ok, just read about the Audio-Technica ATH M50x and i think these sound more promising. Thicker low end but still controlled, and not quite so fizzy high end, which is my main complaint. Same price as the DT770’s so nothing lost.
  24. Yes, they are nice and comfy, although my ears were a bit sweaty this evening after wearing them for about an hour. I can imagine they will be less fatiguing than the HD25’s have been. My other choices were going to be Sen HD280, and Tascam TH-02. In fact i have those in an Amazon locker but I’m not going to pick them up. The discomfort comment comes up too often. Ill spend a few days getting used to them and then decide. Beats lol, always good for a laugh.
  25. Thanks for the replies. I agree, its a preference thing rather than a fault, but i cant help think those that say it has extend bass are kidding themselves. They sound nice, but bland. I guess they are designed to be as flat as possible, but I’m just puzzled by the bass comments. I like the DT770’s, but I think I’m so used to the more ‘in you face’ low end and mid range that maybe I’m hearing my Synth properly for the first time and its a bit of a shock. These are only for playing keyboard at home, and so i want a pleasant sound, not necessarily a flat tone. Maybe i should have gone for a more coloured set. I dont mind V headphones, I believe the HD 25’s are described as this anyway, but the DT770 seems to be lacking punch compared to the HD 25’s. I’m going to run them in over night with some loud music and see if they warm up. Ive been using them for the past hour and getting used to them, but they still feel lacking. I got them on a whim so i dont actually need them, but i could do with something a bit more polite, but fuller than the HD25’s.
