Well i do but by that time i had taken my shirt back so i'd better not post that one, although those eggs didnt half look tasty just sitting there, with those come to table eyes
-
Thanks Bluejay. The shirts are actually quite nice, very soft and comfortable. I'll definitely be getting another one in a month or so, think ill hang on to the girlfriend for a while though. If a thread does get going im sure ill be able to offer one of me wearing one, i might even put the shoes on, just for Linus27
Are those shoes available with the logo, size 9 ?
Dunno but they fit me ok
-
These are the shots i took of her on Sat morning. She had taken the shirt to slip on while making breakfast so i made her pose in it. Yes, i asked her to put the shoes on, this is not the usual way i get my breakfast lol. Im happy to move these in to a show your polo thread once it gets going but didnt want to have just these shots in it.

I think the 900 is a better bet, especially if you want a clean tone. I had the 600 and was quite surprised to see the overload LED on the power stage come on quite a bit. I know this isnt a real problem but it did seem strange, especially as the input level was low. I would be worried about louder gigs.
And kudos (and big thanks) to you for the hard work.
Agreed. In a way we are all Ped's little children

That reminds me, i still have a Smugmug account. Ill do it through that tonight. Shirt ordered, gone for boring black again :-). Once the summer arrives ill get a lighter colour. These polo shirts make me look important at work lol.

Good work Ped. Thats a fantastic way to spend money, hope he does well in life, thanks to you. Sounds like you are working on your retirement plan ;-) I might hold off on the pic posting until i can find a new hosting site that i dont plan on using much. I'll place an order for another shirt now though.

I know what you mean. Although i have a P i dont think i have ever achieved those moments where the bass just sounds unmistakeably like the perfect P tone, which for me is when its played up the neck a bit.
-
To my ears a lot of these examples could be just about almost any muddy bucker bass.
There you go, the perfect P tone description ;-) The thing is "traditional" will mean different things to different people. There is no "one, traditional P tone" as far as i can see, and its even harder to hear in a band context. As we all say, its not the bass but the player who makes the tone. Pick up a P bass and play a few notes, there you go, the P tone. What you make of it is up to you and as we have seen, a lot of people can come up with vastly different tones, all from the same bass.
theres a thread I started not too far away where I asked pretty much the same questions. Follow it and you will be on the road top enlightenment.
....and within that there's my thread lol. Lots of great info, mostly from Mr icastle IIR. -
Christ, that recording has got a shedful of bottom end on it! It's rattling the cutlery drawer downstairs!
LOL, its even better in DD5.1 :-)

There is also some nice P bass, courtesy of Duck Dunn in the Blues Brothers film. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qE41YPdPuis
Haha I'm sure they did! Did the first gen Highways have a nitro finish as well then? As I always thought they were poly? There has got to be more Highways on this forum than this!
To be honest i cant remember what the finish was on the HW1, your probably right though.

Some more up to date, better recorded live P bass tone in the Standing in the Shadows of Motown film. Classic film IMO. This wont play here, it will open a YT link.

Brass Bridge vs Std Fender bridge.
dave_bass5 replied to KennysFord's topic in Repairs and Technical
You should only replace the bridge for cosmetic reasons. Any other differences will be imaginary. IMHO.
Although i didnt do a scientific test i've gone through 3 different bridges on my CVP and didnt notice any tonal differences between the Squier CV HB bridge (with brass saddles), a Gotoh 201 and a Fender vintage (BBOT) I did notice a slightly brighter tone when i put a BAII on my old HW-1 Jazz. Maybe the thin finish helped with this. -
What solder/iron.... for pick-ups and pots?
dave_bass5 replied to mckendrick's topic in Repairs and Technical
I totally agree with the above. especially the 60/40 solder. It is a lot easier to use than the 99% tin stuff.
Yep, same here. I was using some Maplins 99% stuff and not getting good results, went to a local hardware shop and got some 60/40 and never looked back. -
I wasnt really sure i would wear a polo shirt out in public but as i ran out of clean tops ive got mine on today and ive had two nice compliments and it feels nice so im going to be ordering another one or two. I got a shot of my GF with mine on yesterday but not sure if i should post it :-) I think i might actually go for the black non custom version next. I dont suppose there is any chance of getting a black with orange is there?

wow, i didnt realise Yoda needed used any FX pedals.

You know, i find the "traditional" P tone to be pretty dull, and a lot of P owners love putting flats on them to make them even duller, but there are many examples of P tone working in Punk (Clash, Stranglers etc) that sound completely the opposite. Plenty of modern bands also use a P bass. Maybe im missing something but when old Motown recordnigs are referenced for certain tones i've always thought that we are hearing a lot more than just a bass tone. Low fi recordings with a lot of compression etc, probably old (guitar?) cabs, all add up to that Motown sound but i doubt that gives an accurate representation of how the Bass actually sounded in the studio EDIT: How could i forget Bruce Foxton, doh.

If I had listened to what my ears were telling me, and not getting caught up in the "hype" I wouldn't have got my Streamliner. None of the clips really impressed me, but I figured this was just because of the way they were recorded and how I was watching them. Truth was most were pretty accurate :-( I did like it but not as much as I hoped and it seemed that I couldn't always get a good tone out of it, depending on the venue, whereas I rarely had that problem with my MB heads. The new Ashdown heads are getting some good reviews but there are also a couple of owners that are going from ABM to these and have said they seem to be missing something. I did feel that my SA450 was pretty close to my ABM, but the Streamliner is quite a bit different to the MB tone.
Been using one of these for well over a year now and wouldn't be without it. Significant reduction in booming on hollow stages, and I get a much nicer defined bottom end. I was incredibly dubious about the difference it was claimed that these pads had, but I'm completely sold now and wouldn't be without one.
Same here. We play the same boomy stages a few times a year but since getting my GP I've definitely noticed a clearer tone on stage.
That's fine. I think we'll just have to live with this - unless one of the admins knows of a solution?
Yep, it could well be that this is normal.
