Each time i come in to this thread im liking this finish more and more. Thats not a good thing for me to do.

Fantastic shot indeed. To me it has the energy of,a live performance. We had a good one. 60th birthday party in a bowling club. Could have been rubbish but we had a dep drummer who was really spot on. It's funny hearing songs played as the origial after so many years of doing "our version" I'm backs to playing my Squier Jazz with Dr Black Beauties and loving the change.

Why wouldn't he want to know you are committed at the start of something. Better now than to find out later you arent surely? As for the open mic night, he sounds like he wants to get out there and start playing (unlike the originals band by the sound of it), it might not be a good gig but its a start and might be good exposure. I really dont understand the have none of it responses. Hopefully someone will be able to enlighten me.

Its always going to be tricky. I expect both bands want to make it, do lots of gigs etc and i can totally understand some members getting jumpy about commitment. Its all very well saying you will honour the first gig in each time (if thats what you have done) but that then leaves the other band with a problem, especially if its originals and they need to get someone in to cover you. Personally i wouldn't be in a band with someone who was going to cost me loss of earnings, or at least extra hassle. To me its not worth it and un fair. This is not attacking anyone, and in fact i did it myself for a few years recently but these situations can become messy IMO. There is no straight answer as none of us can predict whats coming, but in answer to the original post, and in my view of course, if its a new band, with all of you putting in time and effort i dont see why its a problem being questioned on commitment. I would expect both band will want to be first place come gig day.

I really like the look (and price) of the jazz. I love blocks and inlays but not on a maple fretboard so i like the clean look of these necks.

I've played Lulworth Castle a few times. Lovely place. I always enjoy walking around it during sets.

We have a 40th birthday party to play on the above date, and while our drummer had booked a holiday before it came and cant change it, the drummer that promised to do it turns out to be a C%&T and has let us down so we need someone desperately. We just play the usual standards, nothing taxing at all. There is a song list in my sig (Blowup). 2x 60 min sets, finish no later than midnight. Pay is £150, cash on the night. Cheers.

Yep, believe it all. I had never heard of Lakland before getting my 55-01. I was in the bass center looking for a higher end 5 string and they had about 7-8 55-01's in there. I played every one and couldn't find any issues with any of them. All were set up perfectly (for me), none had any fret or buzzing issues etc. I was very impressed. I had a good budget that day but walked away with a 55-01, one of the cheapest 5 string basses in the shop. This was the first real 5 string i had ever owned and the neck was so comfy i went out and did two gigs that weekend (2 days to get used to it). The tone, as stock, can be improved but a lot of people dont bother. I found i could get almost any tone i wanted from it but did upgrade the pre amp to a slightly better one. I didnt find it made much difference though. The only reason i got rid of mine was i went back to 4 string so didnt need the 55-01 any more. I've been hooked on Laklands ever since, until i ran out of money.

Cheers guys. Fran, your photos are getting better every day but i think you have peaked with this one Gareth. I tend to spend more time on Off topic these days. At the moment i just feel what i have is doing its job so i tend to avoid seeing things that might upset the balance of just wanting vs real GAS. Ive also been spending more time with the camera stuff and rebuilding my PC so nt had a lot fo time to post on here, i still visit this site more than any other. Catch up with you soon.

Ive had both the very best, and very poor service from the Bass Centre in the past. One great, stand out member of staff and one bloke who wasn't really in to the whole service with a smile routine, so yes, its not just the shop itself.

Im just wondering if its possible, and if so how to go about it. Im aware of being able to EQ the whole mix but what i'd like to do is to take a bit of mid out of the bass part. I dont think its going to be easy, or possible but im sure ive seen something along these lines using the spectral wave form view or something like that. Anyone have any ideas, other than have me committed as being crazy.

Ah Ok, i understand. IM sure Strings direct will have them in stock soon. It might even be worth emailing them as they are very helpful, they might be able to get a set in for you. Ive had stuff from them in the past even though they didn't stock the things i wanted.

I was going to suggest Stringsdirect but couldn't see them on that website. If I've read it right the OP is asking about the Stainless steels coated strings, not the nickel ones. Edited to correct myself.

Thomanns have them by the looks of it.

I think its worth the 250mile round trip just to see the Dingwalls wall ;-)
