  1. it says Sold out so no one need sell off a limb or two.
  2. You know you will be welcome to try mine out Bas, and yes, ill give you first refusal when I sell it 🙂
  3. Yep, lots of nice Pre amps out there but untimely most are just replicating EQ that I have on my amp, but with an added ‘feature’, normally OD. My dirt comes from my COG Knightfall 66, which I find amazing both for OD and just thickening up my tone, but it seems to lack the real tube girth (love that word). I’m hoping the BW will just stay on all the time doing that, and leave the COG to do what it does best. Coupled with my Jack Casado I think I’m going to have a lovely fat tone. My next rehearsal isn’t until 23rd Jan. Until then ill only be able to use it with headphones so not really a good test, although I will post my thoughts on using it like this.
  4. As long as its not Hermes 😒
  5. i agree, its not a unique tone, but in my situation i have always used something like a BDDI to warm up my SS heads. This has always worked well but ive always felt i wanted the warming without too much colouration. Ive gone through a few Pre amps/EQ's but keep coming back to the BDDI. I could hear shades of the BDDI in the video, but without the bit i dont always need. I always play with a pick and tend to not move my hand position much, so im hoping it will fatten up things a bit. To me is a bit like the Aphex Big bottom pedal i had years ago, but with a bit more 'magic'. We shall see. im not looking for dirt or OD as such, i have a COG for that, just looking to add a bit more width to the tone.
  6. Never heard of this before, but because you posted about it i went and had a look. Damm if this isnt what ive been looking for (but didn't know it). I can see me getting one very soon and finally getting away from my BDDI. EDIT: What the heck, just ordered one from BD. i hope this is 'the one' lol.
  7. The latest BDDI has a mid knob, with selectable freq (only 2 though). It does make a big difference over the older versions. I loved my VTBass DI (never got on with the stomp box version), but i keep going back to the BDDI as it has a warmth i just couldn't get out of the VTBass.
  8. I know many like GG but after the issue with my GK head and the response i got i wouldn't use them again. I just dont have any faith in their customer service.
  9. Thanks Peter. I went for the 20th Anniversary JC mainly for the fact that it came with a gig bag, but the front pocket is useless so id like something a bit better.
  10. That was the first promo video for the SD. IIR it got slated a lot back then, for not really showing off the features. Lovely looking bass though.
  11. I found it very good for headphone practice, but Al is used to Zooms and they have proper amp/cab modelling, so i didnt want to go overboard on the SD praise as i know its not as goods as he already has. The killer feature for me is having 80hz boost on the low knob. I love that freq (80-100hz).
  12. Bas, its very good for me. As you might recall i had issues with the previous one (not my first one), it hissed a lot, but the replacement is great. I only use the SD on my pedal board but as its at the end it makes a great home practice tool. I’d say the amp sim is just an EQ curve, its not like a cab sim on the digital pedals. No adjustment whatsoever, its just always on when using the headphone out (and only on the headphone out). Aux in from my iPad Pro is also good. Very solid tone. Obviously its bypassing everything in the SD, just in and straight out.
  13. Get in touch with GG and demand a uk one. Thats what i did with both of mine (first one from G4M). Both did arrive with adapters though, it wasnt that i couldnt use them, i just wanted proper UK ones. I spoke to TCE and they said the uk purchased ones should come with proper UK adapter.
  14. My point is there used to be a larger group of mature minded posters, which gave a better oval feel to this place. it seemed a closer community back then.
  15. It left when a lot of the long standing members left. Still one or two that think they are the dogs nuts, but should know better. Not a great place here these days, although it still has its uses.
  16. Musicians friend have a pre order price of $899.99
  17. wow, that is quick. Seeing as im putting an hour or two each day playing at the moment i think i best plant a tree in the window box lol.
  18. Agree, i prefer the Orange to the yellow, although i love my red F1 even more. i wouldn't let the look put me off, but i know the price will.
  19. Not sure if this has been posted yet, bu ti came across this new MarkBass head just now and it looks rather interesting, http://www.markbass.it/product-detail/mb-stu-amp-1000/ On paper it looks very impressive for what i would need, but its early days and price seem to be quite high (based on pre order in the USA). Preamps: Solid State / Tube Power Amp: MPT (MARK PROPRIETARY TECHNOLOGY) Power: 1000W@4Ω / 600W@8Ω Controls: Solid State Gain -Tube Gain- Volume 7 BAND GRAPHIC EQ (LEVEL ±16 DB): 40HZ, 80HZ, 250HZ, 400HZ, 1.2KHZ, 2KHZ, 4KHZ OTHERS: PASSIVE/ACTIVE INPUTS XLR LINE OUT WITH PRE/POST EQ AND GND LIFT SWITCHES FX SEND/RETURN TUNER OUT
  20. Ive just seen the new STU amp from MB. SS and Tube pre amp. not cheap so probably not something ill get, but it looks nice. http://www.markbass.it/product-detail/mb-stu-amp-1000/
  21. Thanks mate but i think ill forgo the wooden ones for now. I think you mentioned those Dava picks in another thread, and i did get a pack of them. I have been using them since but want to try some thicker picks. Ive also got some Wedgie 3.1 rubber picks arriving next week. Ill have another look at the Dava range if the Wedgies dont work out. I did get a pack of Jazz 3 carbon picks that were so small after 5 second i gave them to my son.
  22. The guys clearly sates he is looking to start a band, so why would he provide mics for everyone? Where do you get the idea he wouldn't have a mic? He says if others have a microphone.
  23. it was a lovely bass, but i had (still have) a Squier CV Jazz which i love the tone of, and the DJ5 was just not that tone. Even with a pup change (Nordy's) and the PJ conversion it sounded too warm for me. That was back then though. listening to live recordings of it i made a bad decision getting shot of it. No GAS for basses these days though, so im happy to talk about them 🙂
  24. Wooden ones are/were next on the list, but if they wear down quickly maybe not.
  25. Very nice. my first encounter with Lakland was a 55-01. I had never heard of them before but saw about 10 of them in the Bass Centre when i was out looking to get my first real gigging 5 string. I got this over a Sandberg. It was a nice bass and my first time gigging with a 5 string. I had three Duck Dunn's over the years, and a DJ5 that i got converted to a PJ. I really didnt get on with the DJ5 though, but wish i had kept it. i found the DJ5 to be a bit dark and warm, which wasnt what i was looking for at the time.
