I got my first real 5 string as i was playing in two different bands, playing very similar set lists but in different keys. The singer in the second band didn't have quite a range as the first, so they played a lot of songs quite low. For me it was easier to get a 5 string and just play the same way, but lower. The second band was just a dep gig so i didn't want to mess with my muscle memory for the first band. Other than that, and being able to play Superstition in Eb i cant say i need a 5 string, but i do enjoy messing about on them (and yes, i have two).

i had one a while ago and lost it, but got a new one yesterday. I mainly need it for playing the middle bit in All right now. Playing with a pick i find i end up letting the E string ring, when it should be the A. The FW works well for muting the open E. It also looks cool. i explain to people its a sweat band because i play so fast lol.

I agree. Mine work on all my basses but not 100% on the Yamaha 425, unless i press the transmitter in harder and dont bump the bass. You can feel like a double click when you push it in, but the jack socket is trying to push it back out to the first position, which cuts off the signal.

Yep, been using those Velcro ties for years. I insisted the band use them for our PA leads as they woudl otherwise get tangled up and waste too much time at gigs setting up. Then we all started using them. If we are talking cheap things then i guess its been Eneloop Pro batteries. Its all i use these days and never had one go bad (yet). A bit high and i guess the Zoom B1 Four as its something i use almost every day.

its such a shame Boss put that nice display on the receiver but didnt add a tuner to it. Would have been so easy to do.

Im the owner of @Al Krow’s other 425, and can only agree about how good it is. I also thought it could easily replace my Fender P, but as I prefer 4 strings most of the time I thought that now I know a Yamaha can work I’ll get something a bit premium. Would have liked a 1024 but none around, so bit the bull it and got a P34. Love the tone to bits, and the feel etc is great, but I’m with you on the snake oil thing. Never had a bass that had this and no way of knowing what difference it really makes. Still, as a complete package the P34 is amazingly perfect the for me, and has made me realise my use of pre amps like my BDDI’s etc over the years was to try and get the tone I now have with just the P34, so for me it’s money well spent.

Well i am wondering how it compares to a 734 in passive mode. A bit cheaper and with extra tone options if needed.

Yep, i got one last month. Lovely bass. Very easy to play (with the right action, which i cant quite get yet). Feels good in the hand and hangs well. Wasn't took keen on the VVT layout at first, i prefer a toggle, but ive got use to it now. Im not 100% keen on the finish on the back of the neck, i much prefer gloss, but again im getting used to it and its really a non issue now. Tone wise i find it quite nice using any pup combination, but even the neck pup has a bit of a jazz growl (to my ears). Its not quite 'Fender' P sounding, but has a bit of a freq hump somewhere that just helps it poke through. Quite funky sounding even when played with a pick. Ive always loved using a BDDI with my basses but this is the first bass in a long time that ive felt is just right without needing any help. in fact since getting this ive more or less given up on using effects, as i feel this bass just sounds so good on its own. Not sure id say it was worth the money, as Yamaha basses seem to be of a very high standard across the board, but i appreciate what's gone in to making this.

Bas, i never found the TI's to be floppy as such, they are just a bit more flexible and 'bendy'. I was impressed with the EB Cobalt flats i had briefly.

Cheers. Yes, it was spoken about when they first came out, and yes, there were variable responses to this, but my question was really to see if anyone found it to be a real problem and moved on. I do use a pick and so do get a more audible click, and I suppose this can be more noticeable if it’s delayed, but I agree, 8ms is nothing to worry about I’m definitely talking about pubs and small clubs, so not worried at all about the range.

Having seen and used one of these systems the other night (thanks to @Al Krow) iim considering getting one in the near future if i find my new-ish Boss WL20's dont work out. I like the idea of a more robust system, and have recently given my G30 away. The Boss system is good, but im a bit worried about how stable these small systems are. Ive already had more drop outs with it in a couple of months, over never with my G30. Ive ready all this thread and you all seem pretty happy with them. MY only concern is the latency. Now i know a lot of you said its fine, but that was a while ago. Has anyone changed their minds, found it a problem under normal gigging conditions? im not talking about recording etc, where it could be noticeable (not sure why anyone would anyway). Not looking for other recommendations, just asking about the SH system. Cheers.

I should add my comment above was just based on low volume home playing. Not side by side, just that the F112 sounded more to my liking, and that's what counts 🙂

Have you checked the dimensions of a 4 and 6U rack case against the amp? You should get a good idea about what it fits.

Oh yes, it was very impressive. Knocks the socks of the BB2 i had as far as playing at home. Cant comment on a gig situation of course, at least not until i get mine 🙂

We can talk later.. I am planning on selling it but not until I’ve gigged my BH800 at least once. This will be next month. Its been my fav small head, and in fact its the smallest I’ve ever owned, but I fell in love with the BH800 EQ ((via my Spectradrive)
