  1. I sure this a very small number, but i also think its a worry that it could happen at all. Never had a set of string with rust on them before, let alone brand new ones. I’d also like to think that although we are a large community there must be 1000s not on web forums, sp who knows how widespread it is. It does seem that those who got a bad string/set got them replaced with good ones, and if you do get a bad one just send the set back. Nothing to lose really, other than maybe time, and not liking them.
  2. This is my reason as well. That and YT videos. I’d love to be able to do it well, but if I’m honest i have no need to play it, so I’d also be one to use it just to show off. I also find a lot of it quite repetitive. Nothing against hearing it in the right context though.
  3. I got mine from Amazon so was easy to send back. In the short time I used them i was really impressed with them. I will definitely try a set again when i can afford it.
  4. Im fine at home, at least, I can play along to Spotify etc ok. it’s probably my drummer playing too fast or just different to how it should be. Need to practice finger playing more with the band than on my own. Not likely to do that for a while though.
  5. I’m the other way. Been playing with a pick since I started. Sometimes I struggle with the tone I get, not so keen on the thinness a pick can give not the higher strings, upper notes, but overall it works for most things we play. I don’t try and emulate the original tones unless it’s really needed. I do tend to play a lot of the side of my right hand muting the strings a bit, which gets me a bit more thumpy At home I hardly use a pick, as I do try my best to get up to speed with fingers, but with the band I try a bit and then get the pick out. I just can’t get the speed and syncopation with the band.
  6. I had a set earlier this year (or around that time). The D had rust spots on it so I sent them back There is a nice thread about them already
  7. Wow, i didnt know this. I brought a bass of them just before lockdown, and sent it back due to me not knowing my future financial situation. Had to chase them a bit but glad i did now. What a shame. EDIT. Their website is still active.
  8. Mine as well. In fact top of a very short list of bass heroes.
  9. I saw DD on thier first major tour with Hazel O’Connor at the Dominon. They had tartan on and a lot of people thought they were Spandau Ballet lol. Even back then i thought they had an amazing feel to their songs. Nothing flash, but everything’ seemed to be where it needed to be to support the rest. Not a huge fan of the over produced stuff though.
  10. I’m not sure he is underrated. Everyone seems to rave about him. Not bad for a pick player 😂
  11. I only just got around to watching it. Meh lol. I love JT’s playing, he is a big influence on me, but the video was boring. I also cringed when he did what Ronnie Wood does, that head wobble when explaining something musical. Still, not everyone is cut out to be a YT sensation. Guy=3, JT=0 so far.
  12. I think, as with bass cab, we will have different preferences and shouldn’t rely too much on YT, etc. As you said, in the flesh might be very different. You cant really portray the kick and punch you will get in the room. I’d say the review are helpful to point out negatives, like not being able to handle certain things. As with headphones some are better than others with different genre’s. im starting to warm to the MTM’s now, but cant help feel they are over priced and you are paying for the compactness and fancy DSP. I cant get my head around them being good for accurate recording though. I know you wont need that feature, but they seem to be sold as such. End of the day, we have an abundance of EQ options so i don’t think you can go too far wrong. I do like the idea of slightly larger speakers on small stands either side of the desk. This is will cut down on any vibrations.
  13. Yeah, i cant imagine David liking too much of it 😁
  14. No problem. I dont watch s lot of his videos as its guitar based, but he knows his stuff. Did you know the stock presets that have JS in the name are his? Probably did, old news lol. Not sure if we have this one posted already. Shame he wasnt using a bass.
  15. We were recently talking about using the Helix as an audio interface. Came across this from Jason. Thought i might help and clear some things up.
  16. Was going to say that but thought I’d get shot down. I thought it was quite pedestrian, but I realise he isnt known for his slap.
  17. Get a Q/strip pedal and have loads of options 😉
  18. I’m going to spend the weekend practising 🍻
  19. Oops, will fix it now. That what happens when i type and drink at the same tomb....😏
  20. I also have a feeling the surge in new instruments might come from the fact that we cant go and try them out now, so the only option is to buy. Less time wasters i guess. Just noticed Spain is reportedly going to allow outdoor concerts with 200 or less people from Monday. That wouldn’t effect my audience 😔
  21. Live music is going to sound bloody awful for the first few months lol.
  22. I know we have a short thread about this already, but its now live. What a lovely bass.
  23. Yeah. Like you say, things are changing, although i doubt live music will ever die, its just going to change a bit for while. In a few years time i tihnk we will be back to normal, assume the virus is under control. To be honest all those acoustic versions of songs are draining me and i hope this is not the way forward.
  24. The 1x15 on there is also very good. I do think a BDDI or the much cheaper Behringer BDI-21 would be a better option, as you will have more control over them. This scenario is exactly why they were developed.
