  1. Oh yeah, not for everyone, but it has a good rep. Horses for courses.
  2. Haha, that was quick. At this rate we will be on version 3.0 by next week lol https://line6.com/support/page/kb/effects-controllers/helix/helixhx-291-release-notes-r940/
  3. It didn’t take me a year of using it to find the tone, I had it a year before I started using it after the first gig (the only gig I’ve ever done without back line, which is why I brought it). Tried it on and off over the following year, but only made 6-7 times. Back then I didn’t know the benefit of using a pre amp in front of a pre amp, so I’d just use it every now and then but it mostly stayed in the bag as a back up if needed. I must admit the VTBass DI is more immediately satisfying, but I also found it more of a tone changer, which is why I loved both but kept the BDDI.
  4. Pretty much spot on. Took me over a year of hating it to figure out the Blend is the key. As you say, it can be used to just bolster the tone without too much noticeable change. I like to think of it a bit like Turing active mode on a bass. The latest incarnation is the best yet, and it’s a shame Line 6 didn’t update their version of the BDDI in the Helix. Still good as an always on for me though.
  5. Doesn’t matter, just put a BDDI in front of either and you’re good to go 😂😂
  6. Thanks 😏 I do all my home practice sitting on my bed or couch, with my iPad and stomp sitting next to me, both going through the headphone out. If I record I see no reason to change any of that. Can’t see why anyone would put their computer on the floor. How do you control it?
  7. Totally agree. I make a point of not using the software so I get to know the box. Makes it handy for live tweaking. I don’t do a lot,of tweaking, but I like to know where everything is in case it needs changing on the fly.
  8. So now I have my Stomp on the floor, and my iPad on the floor. Explain that logic please. And I supposed to sit on the floor when playing?
  9. It was a good idea. Going back and forth between minor differences makes sense. I was just wondering what happens once you find the right setting. Looks like it’s easy to do, so good to know.
  10. This is exactly what I was asking about, thanks. Now I’m home I can see a number which I hadn’t really paid any attention to before, but understood it to be to do with snapshots. As I don’t use them I just ignored it. As said, I dont want to do this, at least not at the moment, but was just wondering if it was possible. The Helix stuff seems to be the system that just keeps giving and giving lol.
  11. How would I get that running on my Zoom R8 or iPad Pro 😂 I thought it would be clear that my first comment was just an example though, pointing out the big size difference which not everyone would welcome. Saying that, I don’t use a computer for recording at home. My iPad Pro is way more powerful than my PC, and my Zoom R8 is a much more traditional recording tool, which i still prefer over using a computer.
  12. Cool. Can you tell me how I can do this? Not copy and paste to a new location, but to overwrite the basic settings using a variation. Cheers. EDIT: I’m replying while I’m out and about, so I’ll figure it out when I get home. It’s not something I need to do, just wondered if it’s possible.
  13. Thanks. I understand what snapshots do, my question is can I make one of the variations (snapshots) the main patch if I’m not using snapshots? For example if Im in snapshot mode and just trying out variations, and I prefer snapshot 3, can I apply that to the main patch? I don’t use snapshot mode as I like to tweak on the fly. As to the last point, well not if I don’t have a computer to run the software 😏
  14. On that subject, and bearing in mind Ive never used them, can you set any one of the 3 snapshots as the default settings when not using snapshots?
  15. You ever tried getting a Helix Floor up on your desk for home recording 😂
  16. I agree. The HFX is more a pedalboard rather than do it all. Also a few pre amps are in the HFX. I’ve used a BDDI for years and having it in the same box as other effects was a huge draw. A lot of people use preamps in to power amps so the option is still there, just not as versatile if you want a specific tone I guess. We are getting spoilt 😬 I’d also like to see a bit more of the control centre added to the Stomp, specifically the ability to change amp channels. That was the killer feature for me when I had my HFX. Saves having two pedals on the floor.
  17. Ive come so close to getting a Genzler a few times. In fact it was having owned a Streamliner when they first came out that put me off. Nice amp but I didn’t really like the voicing. I do still want to try one at some point, I think I’d lie it more.
  18. And that’s the sad part, we all have fantastic gear sitting around at the moment 😬
  19. I’m talking bout those that have had class D and still have class D, only not the one they rate as the best.
  20. Even Billy has been posting about how he likes it over on FB. He even posted a video earlier today in the Helix for bass group.
  21. I came so close to selling my Stomp, so glad I kept hold of it. The new update has given me a new enthusiasm for using it live again. Live 😂😂😂
  22. Yeah, it’s like a reminder you have edited but not saved the patch. Another small but cool update.
  23. Haha, yeah, that’s what I meant. Why not buy another?
