  1. Exactly. Just as an aside the number four player in this picture is Bob Upandown who, after suffering a career ending leg injury, went on to be Cardinal Robert Upandown The Venerable Cloister of Naseby until his unfortunate demise in an incredibly slow road traffic accident outside Penge.
  2. That was Lionel Macari, here he is on the cover of his 373rd album...
  3. Your ferret ate Len Macari who ran the Fish & Chip emporium on the Old Kent Road, Len’s Plaice it was called. It’s still there run by Len’s wife Mrs Betty Macari.
  4. Agreed. I would also recommend Empires and Dance, the album before S&F, It is absolutely bass driven. Forbes is a brilliant bass player and SM became a shadow without him.
  5. This thread is like trying to do a Rubik’s Cube on acid whilst riding a rubber roller coaster,,,
  6. I think I recognise that headstock!
  7. Lots of good ideas here…
  8. …and various clefts.
  9. Happy non-denominational tofu-filled unspecific not-for-profit winter festival.
  10. ☝☝☝ this. With (clean) bells on.
  11. My first bass in my latter period of playing was a Fender Modern Player Jazz, in fact I had a Mk1 and a Mk2. Once set up they were sublime. I got both for £375 each. They don’t come up second hand that much, I expect because it’s a shed load of bass for little coin. I swapped out the Mk2 neck for a fretless neck, it was lush. I think they were easily the best basses I’ve owned in a bang for buck sense, by miles.
  12. Couldn't agree more, they might cost a bit but they'll see you good for decades.
  13. Not satisfied with making the best live film ever (Stop Making Sense (1984) David Byrne is back with another brilliant live show David Byrne’s American Utopia. It’s on Sky Arts tonight (18th Dec) at 6pm, it’s technically astonishing and just brilliant.
  14. I'd read about @fleabag's experience of doing this before I sold a bass via BD.
  15. Isn't Al Trombone doing a five stretch for larceny in Wandsworth with the notorious French fence Stew D’Apples?
  16. Proximity… as any fule kno. Blue Bedford Crimson Cambridgeshire etc.
  17. Garth Brooks albums? Wasn’t his last album called Taco In A Tuba: Garth Brooks Live With The Tijuana Arrs.
  18. TBH we all usurp it every day, usurp being the operative here as that’s the sound of a pizza being rammed up a trombone. Just a shot across the bow there, if you want your brass instruments sullied by the forced application of sundry fast foods then don’t say you weren’t warned.
  19. I have had a few transactions with @Burns-bass and have failed to leave feedback on any of them! All these transactions have been absolutely smooth and easy. Lawrie is a complete gentleman and a great basschatter, deal with total confidence.
  20. I go through a Stomp into a QSC K12.2. It’s not the lightest but a K10.2 might be light enough.
  21. How important is gear to your sound? Well, the more you smoke the better you sound… Allegedly.
  22. Is it the gear or is it the room? A little out of column a), a little out of column b).
