1. most welcome.
2. i may just set up an ebay alert...
3. Now I really /do/ like that
4. Yes quite cheap also
5. I really really like relics, especially if they have parts like underside of the upper horn that no one can quite believe would relic naturally Phew - NOW we are back on track Has any of the naysayers thought that maybe the grain would pop the paint there (and in other non obvious places ) through expansion and contraction, rather than wear ? Adam Claytons 73 P has paint loss there on that horn
6. They are very "clicky" too
7. I've tried regular electric strings on an electro acoustic and they sound far too bright
8. It's that a metal flake finish ?
9. Coke is good for the can's metal
10.
Knock yoursel' oot.
I may need more popcorn...
11. can someone please pass the popcorn ? This topic will run and run and I may be here for some time. Its lucky we never discuss relicing and its relative merits (or not) so it could be an enlightening debate
12.
Personally I don't like relicing but I think a naturally worn bass increases a players credibility no end.
That's one bass that I really like the look of.
13.
But IIRC the "wear" pattern is exactly the same on all the Flea Jazz Basses which doesn't makes them unique at all ;-)
It's like they were all made in a factory or something
14. i have a fake relic and I've done some of it myself. I rounded the neck edges and sanded the back down a bit and its a lot more comfortable to play. I refuse to baby a bass, it s a tool and I'm not going to wrap it in cotton wool. As long as I don't damage its working parts I really dont see why its a problem to have it look a certain way.
15.
This morning I heard a radio ad. Declaring EBay as the place to sell your old stuff to clear a bedroom. So maybe that business model is getting shaky? I always thought eBay was good for selling nationally and Gumtree for sellimg locally. This weekend I put up an electronic piano on Gumtree. Folk were calling from up to 70 miles away!
I had someone drive all the way from Tooting to the yorkshire border to buy something, On a friday night. In heavy rain. In principle however, I would agree with Mr G. Its very noticeable how the bargains have dropped off, I was doubting my sanity and thinking I'd been missing them,.
16. Nice I'd like it in sunburst
17. He does say that in his listing to be fair
18. Update us ? I quite fancy one myself
19. i like that - but I must not walk to the Dark Side
20.
ETS do a piezo although it may only fit their own headless bridge system. I'll be following this thread as I've had similar intentions bubbling away.
https://m.thomann.de/gb/abm_3710c_p_single_bass_piezo_cr.htm?o=4&search=1486675894
21.
I spent all day looking at piezos but they don't fit the headless system I have. If you can point me in the direction of a system that would fit I'd be very appreciative..
Just bury an Acoustic piezo under the nut ? You'd need to extend the cable
22. Piezo in the bridge ? Piezo bridges are fairly easy to find If you mean in the nut, can't you use an acoustic guitar piezo? They make quite small ones for use and mandolin that would likely fit and they're only a few quid
23. If you look at the p bass listing from same seller he says it's real celluloid
24. Journey and Don't stop believing
25.
Maybe there's two gnomes, right hand gnome to strike the strings and left hand gnome to run up and down the fret board?
Isn't that dusty hill of zz top?
