Using a JCM 800 head last night. Exactly my same thoughts as you, really sounds damn good. Weighed about the size of Jupiter though so can't see me gigging with it. Back to the OBT for me I think!

Thought I was GAS free until someone decided to send me a link for some Ibanez basses. No money though, maybe it's for the best however!

[/quote] I didn't realize this, my apologies for bad advice. Just searched a few threads on the Orange forum. Apparently it's not possible to DI straight from the amp. (I've just tried it with my OBT and it hasn't worked) E: Was referring to doing it without a cab. My mistake and error for wording.

You'd still need a cab to plug into as the amp requires a load. Also, there's a type of preamp tube that you could change it too as it's supposed to help, but I can't remember what it is of the top of my head though.

Great advice. Thanks! I feel silly for not asking this sooner, but I've just received my bass terror and noticing the speaker outputs are a different type to what I've used before. What sort of type are these and where can I get some? Also are there any where one half of the cable is the type for the bass amp and the other is a standard jack so I can plug into a cab that's only a jack if needed (The rehersal places only have cabs that have 1/4 jack slots and not this bizarre alien type.

As someone that's had a little experience in this area, I think it's important to get someone that is at least knowledgeable, but most engineers should be experienced enough to know what they're doing. However if you're working with a producer that calls the shots on everything from what mics you use to placements and arrangements. I think it's best to get someone that understands what you do.

Should have specified in the OP that it was more about the electricity used and keeping you and your fellow bandmates safe if somewhere has potentially dangerous/unclean electricity. Maybe it's something slightly paranoid, but I've heard stories about people getting electrocuted onstage and I want to try and prevent that from happening.

That first album is a cracking little album and it was a risky move giving it away for free with Terrorizer but it paid off bigtime. They were ace opening at Bloodstock last year. Evil Scarecrow are worth a watch live also.

Some great advice, just concerned because I saw an orange promotional video in which Doug Doppler claimed that it would do 500 Watts on either ohmage setting. I'm assuming that's when the cabs at 500W plus or am I wrong?

Use anyone except Hermes and Yodel. Also, I love stores using DPD but I think you need a business account to use them. Fisheth.
